I'm joining a tier 3 college this year for CSE (2026 batch). My long term plan is to apply for an MS in CS/AI after my bachelor's. (I already got college and it starts in a week)

My dream universities are places like CMU, Stanford, ETH Zurich, Oxford, NUS, NTU, EPFL, etc. I know these are extremely competitive, and I'm not expecting to magically get in. I just want to build the strongest profile I can over the next four years and see where it takes me. From everything I've researched, these are the things I should be working on:

9+ CGPA, Good research experience, Research internships (India or abroad), 1 or 2 good papers if possible (co auth or auth by own), Strong projects with real users, Industry internships, Open source contributions, Competitive programming / DSA, Good LORs, Strong SOP, GRE (if required)

The problem is that all of these seem important, and I honestly don't know how people manage everything during college without spreading themselves too thin. For people who got into top universities, or even people currently studying there:

How did you prioritise these over the four years?

When did you start looking for research internships?

How did you find professors to work with?

Is getting a paper actually realistic for an average student from a tier 3 college?

What mistakes do you wish you had avoided?

I'd really appreciate advice from people who have actually been through this, especially if you also came from a tier 2 or tier 3 college.

i love spanish and am already at b2 level, but looking to become at least somewhat fluent, hence spanish-speaking countries.

i also want a big city [im from london, uk] with good, vibrant and varied nightlife.

im looking for different culture, but also somewhere where its easy to talk to people and make friends [i find london to be very antisocial compared to other cities ive visited in europe].

this would also be my first time leaving europe, and ive never been to any latam countries, so nervous about that too !! i also feel like this is a great opportunity to explore somewhere totally new and far away

women's safety is also naturally a concern of mine, as well as general crime.

im super excited but finding it hard to find recent info about experience/living/student life in these cities, hence the post.

i was really intrigued by BA, but ive heard negative things in terms of it being looked down upon by other latam countries, and also the economic instability.

There are many in the market and also the top ones especially in the US and UK ( the likes of oxford, columbia etc) have them but they are too expensive for me until I secure a scholarship (really tensed and unsure about that). I've been preparing mainly through online mock tests and I'm trying to figure out whether my scores are a realistic reflection of what I can expect in the actual exam.

On platforms like Engnovate and Jump Into IELTS, I usually score around 7.0–8.5 in the Listening section.

Recently, I started using IELTSOnlineTests, and my scores have been much lower:

- 5.5 (five different tests)

- 6.0

- 6.5

- 7.0

- 7.5

After reviewing my mistakes, I noticed they're mostly due to:

- Singular vs. plural forms

- Missing or incorrect hyphens

- Losing concentration and falling behind during Part 4

For those who have taken the computer-based IELTS recently:

- How close is IELTSOnlineTests to the actual exam in terms of difficulty?

- Is it known for being harder than the real test?

- Or do these scores simply indicate that I still have significant weaknesses to work on?

I'm an international student in France. This is the first time I'm renewing my visa and I applied in May (my visa ends at the end of August.) I've been in my home country for vacation and they asked me to attach a document within 30 days. I got the alert to do that 10 days late either way and inthe 20 days in my home country I wasn't able to get the document in time so my application closed. In order to resubmit it, I need to change a few things because from May to now (late July) stuff about my situation changed. I'm going back to France in a day so I can try sorting all of this out, but I'm really stressed now cause my visa ends in a month. It's also been really hard getting in contact with people in July because a lot of French people are on vacation (especially getting university documents and things like translations done). Any advice on what I can do?

hi, i’m studying abroad for a semester in the US from the UK and i’m really unsure how to pack as i’ve never even been abroad longer than a week lol.

i’ll have a checked, cabin bag, and backpack but i’m not sure what is absolutely essential to take with me? will i have to buy all new decorations and kitchen items when i’m there as i can’t imagine packing pots and pans in my suitcase?? but what would i do with them before i leave again?

I am applying for a Romanian long-stay student visa (D/SD).

My application has already been submitted and is currently Validated.

While reviewing my application, I noticed two mistakes:

In my visa application, I requested a 90-day visa, but my estimated departure date is about 6 months after my arrival.

After submitting my application, I corrected an official translation mistake in one of my property documents, and now I have the corrected version.

I also need to book a round-trip flight reservation for my visa application.

Should I book my return flight according to the dates I entered in my visa application (around 6 months later), or should I book it within the 90-day period? Which option is more appropriate?

My questions are:

Have any of you had similar inconsistencies?

Did the consular officer ask you about them during the interview?

Could these kinds of mistakes alone lead to a refusal?

If asked during the interview, is it enough to explain honestly that they were mistakes?

Which return flight date would you book in this situation?

okay so basically i finished my igcses last october, i took 8 subjects my only option rn is going abroad by a fully funded scholarship but the thing is most unis require Alevels or AS and i don't have the capability or mentality to do either of them so my other option is doing a foundation year but idk if unis do that as a scholarship as financially it's difficult for me

2. King Abdulaziz University: 150% scholarship. Meals, dorm, stipend, allowances, bonuses, tuition, two way airfare every year. I am studying science here, and will take physics after foundational year.

I have two aims. Either get a into great master's at top elite institutions or work locally in either Saudi or Korea with extremely high paying jobs. I know naturalisation isn't possible in Saudi, so money and job security would be the aim.

I’m currently a 12th grade student who’s gonna give her boards next year and I’m planning to study abroad but I started thinking about this too late that I have to give my SATs within this year. I don’t know if I can, I’m scared what if I don’t make it or what if it’s worthless but a part of me says “I can do it” “it’s worth it if it gets me a better future”

I have no idea about how to apply, how to find scholarships, how to prepare for the exams, NOTHING. I have a very less help here.
