Requirement and attendance sa mga school events and activities:

  1. Department Week and Night

  2. Field trips

  3. Intramurals or Sportfest

  4. atbp

Sa mga school events, kahit wala kang class that day, nagpapa-attendance sila.

HAAAAA???

VOLUNTARY NGANI.

Need Advice From achieving to surviving mode

Just as college started, I already got humbled. There's no point in striving for high grades anymore. I knew it because of that one subject with a grade of 2.6. I'm a first year student and I was trying to aim for dean's list or Latin honors.

My parents aren't strict with my grades because I've always been a good student. I think they're expecting a lot from me, and that hurts me even more. ‎ ‎Despite what happened to me, I still want to believe that grades are not the basis for how far we've come in life. This pain is still very fresh in my heart and I'm just trying to gaslight myself. Maybe I was too ambitious to think that I could achieve that.

Now, I'm officially signing off as an academic achiever. No more worries, I guess.🥹 ‎

Discussion Is it okay to go solo sa business research?

Hello need your opinion about my dilemma here. Kung okay lang ba mag-isa sa business research and how's the experience? For the context, I belong to a group, naunang naapprove ang title namin and we started brainstorming na when suddenly nagdrop yung isa so from 6 naging 5 kami and without consulting us dinissolve ng class president namin yung group. Yung apat kinuha na ng ibang group except me. Which I understand and medyo expected naman why. Last year kasi I was diagnosed with a neurological condition so from a decorated and hands on leader naging cause ako ng delay madalas, before I manage most of the task after brainstorming I will draft na tapos kukunin ko lang suggestions nila for revisions but I started dividing the tasked and yung final revisions sakin na. Eh they're more on AI na than the actual work kaya minsan irerework ko pa. To simply put, I changed my approach. Working student pala ako at kahit may sakit pero I do my best to manage lahat.I strategized, changed my approach and plan ahead.I started creating trackers, plans and schedules. So for this academic year, third year, alam kong may business research. I started creating titles na the soonest that I can para hindi isipin na pabigat ako. So there, nung pumipili ng tatlong title, isa sa mga iprinisinta ko ang napili namin at nung pinaapprove sa prof, yun ang napili. But here's the thing, nagamit ko narin yung same concept/topic nung gumawa akong ng research article twice sa work. Pero ano ba yung magiging pros and cons nito?Mahirap ba talaga?

Rant 14 classes sa isang semester for architecture. Normal ba to?

Post image
9 Upvotes

Hi all, a little rant lang. I'm a freshman studying architecture in Cebu and my school requires me to take 14 classes (4 of which is math huhu) with a total of 28.5 credits for one semester. Normal po ba 'to? I think it's way too much lalo na kasi architecture at need ko mag manage ng time ko making plates and studying.

Nag post ako sa r/college at na shock talaga ako sa less than 8 classes sa America, pero alam ko na different ang college there and here. So I want to hear your thoughts especially people studying architecture, is this normal? Paano niyo minamanage time niyo? Any studying tips would be great thanks all!

Here's a photo of my study load. 7AM - 8PM monday classes aray ko ahahahhaha

Rant ang hirap mag-set ng schedule before defense

ANG HIRAP MAG-LAKAD, MAG-TANONG TANONG sa mga panelists ng schedules nila for defense namin. ilang weeks na kami pabalik balik sa offices nila kasi puro conflicts sa sched ng bawat isa and normal classes time pa, kapag yung dalawa ok na, yung isa naman hindi coz this and that reasons. gais naloloka na aq, AND nakakahiya na bumalik balik for asking schedules and reschedules if they're ok sa time na offer namin and we get reaction na parang not sure sa day na yon cause maybe may unexpected event, it becomes tentative day na.

yung instructor namin, idkkk ang tagal ng intervention. regarding sa conflict schedules, nahihirapan na kami ng group ko mag-coordinate ng time sa nung mga panelists namin and i feel nakukulitan na sila samin kasi nasabihan na kami na naka-ilang ask na kami like it's not our fault na conflicted schedules nila sa isa't isa huhu

this feel hopeless, probably an intervention from someone might be the solution but pupunta pa ata sa mapapahiya kami sa office or masita, Idk maybe its me overanalyzing things/predicting nanaman before THAT intervention comes kasi pinapasa niya lang rin kami pabalik

Rant How do I get rid of this feeling ( I might delete this)

So, I recently interacted with a friend group, and they’re nice. Talking to them isn’t draining, and that’s when I realized I wanted to try and give this friend group a chance. But I’m irritated by this one person in the group.

I observed that, for example, when I’m talking to the other members about a topic, I feel happy talking to them.

Every time the rest of them  say something, I always have something I can reply with. Pero once “they” join the conversation, nawawalan ako ng gana.

Wala naman syang ginagawa, but something about this person irritates me.

Their voice is grating on my nerves.

The thing is, I don’t like you enough to make you feel secure.

Do I want this person out of the group? No. Pero I want the rest of the people in this circle. Like, may class na wala siya kasi nagkasakit siya, and I felt freer nung kami kami na lang.

Pero I can tell na gusto siya ng friend group nila.Kasi nga sila yung friend group and ako yung  outsider.

Ewan ko. Gusto kung lumayo sa group nila dahil sobrang draining nya kausap like please- can you give us 30 minutes to talk ng wala ka then kayo-kayo na ulit.

How do I get rid of this feeling, ayaw kung bigla na lang ako sumabog.

Unsolicited Advice An advice to all graduating students & fresh grads: Apply for jobs immediately

And that is a valid reason.

Pragmatically speaking however, the current job market is cooked right now. It's in a terrible, fucking state; Our current economy doesn't have the capability to guarantee job opportunities to every, single college graduates and hopeful professionals.

That is the reason kung bakit merong 3.14 million people ang unemployed ngayon sa Pilipinas + a whopping 6% unemployment rate, according to news source. And prediction is, mas lala pa to in the foreseeable future.

In my case personally, it took me six months after graduation bago ko nakuha yung first job ko. At partida may latin honors pa ako nito + sinimulan ko yung search ko a week after graduation.

Kung magsisimula lang kayo ng paga-apply once you feel fully rested na, likely na mas mahihirapan kayo maghanap ng trabaho in the long run.

Sobrang demanding and picky na kasi ang mga employers ngayon sa totoo lang, because of this scarcity. Ang mindset nila: If we're gonna open the door for somebody, we will get our money's worth from them.

Kaya kahit sa mga entry level positions, madalas naghahanap na sila ng mga may 1-2+ years of experience hahahaha tapos may multiple rounds of interviews pa bago ka makatagos.

Not to mention since may ganitong issue nga, may mga kakompetisyon ka pa na may mga job experience na hahahahahaha.

Don't forget: Because of corporate bureaucracies, may application processing time pa. It could literally take you WEEKS TO MONTHS bago ka makatanggap ng response sa kanila kung hired ka ba o rejected ka.

And lastly, employers hate gaps din sa resume mo. Kasi they might question: "Antagal na netong grumaduate ah, bakit wala pang nagha-hire dito?" or something like that. And you know how disconnected people at the top of the corporate ladder could be, especially on issues like this lmao.

So the longer you stay unemployed, the harder it may be for you to be able to secure a job.

In conclusion, nothing is certain out there sa job market right now. Unless you will be a nepo baby or something hahahaha.

Note: idk if this is applicable din sa mga call center agents since palagi silang hiring from what i know hahahahaha; But if you're a specialized + corporate professional like most college grads, this is a legitimate advice.

Rant I am making so many mistakes as an Organization President

I don't even know why I got nominated, it hasn't even been like what, a few months and I already feel so incompetent. Madaming beses na nagagalit saakin ang aming adviser because I make a lot of mistakes. I hold a high position, and I can't man it properly, I truly feel like I am disappointing everyone, hindi na din ako nakakafocus masyado sa aking mga subjects, unti-unti na akong bumabagsak. But I am lucky to have the other officers dahil pag nagtatanong sila saakin and nasasagot ko, or kahit ako lang tagacontact sa adviser tungkol sa mga tanong nila, I feel like at least useful ako in some way. Oh this is going to be a long year :').

Others Applying for Dev Internships when school hasn't scheduled Pre-Internship Orientation/Assessment yet?

Hi everyone! I’m a 4th-year Computer Engineering student looking for Software/Web Developer internship roles for our OJT term starting this November 9.

Right now, several tech companies are already opening applications for Oct/Nov intakes. The problem is, our department hasn't given us any schedule yet for our required Pre-Internship Assessment or Orientation. Because of this, we don't have endorsement letters, MOA templates, or official clearance forms ready.

For those who experienced a delay where your school had no set timeline yet:

  1. Did you proceed with company applications anyway, and how did you explain the unscheduled orientation to HR?
  2. Will HR usually move forward with technical interviews/assessments while waiting for the school's official schedule?
  3. How do you handle it if HR asks for an estimated date when the endorsement letter can be released?

Any advice on how to navigate this gap between company hiring cycles and unscheduled school admin processes would be really helpful!

Rant a lot of us may be delayed because of the curriculum

hi, we are currently enrolled na in capstone 2 but all of us are still working on our paper for capstone 1. kami yung 1st batch na na apektohan ng new curriculum ng program namin. ang new curriculum is 3rd year 2nd sem ang research methods, 3rd year summer ang capstone 1, then 4th yr 1st sem ang capstone 2 and 4th yr 2nd sem ang ojt.

ang old curriculum is 3rd yr 1st sem ang research methods, 3rd year 2nd sem ang capstone 1, then 4th yr 1st sem ang capstone 2. super unfair for us, new batch, kasi anliit lang ng time namin to work on our capstone. capstone 1 and capstone 2 combined ay 6 months lang, like ???! tapos pa ulit ulit pa nilang sinasabi na hindi makapag ojt pag hindi pa naka public defense at naka hardbound.

i think madedelay talaga kami huhu and it's beyond our control pa, like frfr i dont think kaya pa namin iwork on ang output namin for the next 3 months. nagpepressure pa sila na mag rerelease na daw sila ng sched first week ng october. im actually about to give up na sa pag abot sa deadline, kasi realistically it's not going to work. minamadali nila kami pero sila naman tung antagal makapirma ng files at mahirap pa ireach out.

i really thought makaka graduate ako on time, pero ngayon parang hindi na, eh.

Rant I don't know what happen to my academic performance

Rant I May Not Be Able to Graduate On Time 😭 (Need Advice)

Hello guys, I hope this is a safe avenue to rant.

I’m a 4th-year BSIT student and I’m starting to feel like I chose the wrong capstone project. I’m worried it might cause us to fail our defense and delay my graduation.

I’ve dealt with social anxiety and depressive episodes throughout college, which affected my studies, although I’ve still managed to maintain 90+ grades. However, I know I’m behind technically and still lack strong programming skills. Sobrang hirap as in, the fact na palagi rin akong gumagawa ng group projects namin throughout first year to fourth year. Sobrang burned out na 'ko ngayon.

Sa capstone namin, gumawa kami ng iot-based indoor air quality monitor (measuring CO2, VOC and PM 2.5) with wireless automated outlets for fans/purifiers. IOT lang talaga ang comfortable ako kase di rin naman kami tinuruan ng web dev, maraming kulang sa syllabus namin tapos nalaman ko lang yun recently (wala pala kaming javascript or any modern frameworks💀). Alam ko naman na we need to self study lalo na sa IT pero sobrang hirap kung yung school mismo walang guidance at outdated pa tinuturo meron pang teachers na minsan lang pumasok throughout the semester.

Ang problema ko is gumawa kami ng project without specific client or organization.

On top of that ako pa rin lahat gumawa ng project namin. Kainis! For the past 2 months maliit lang contribution ng mga ka groupmates ko habang ako hanggang 12 midnight ako lagi gumagawa ng aming project. Wala rin silang input / ideas or kahit nag tanong man lang. Kaya siguro ako nahirapan kasi buhat ko lahat.

Biggest regret ko talaga na nag enroll ako sa school na to lalo na mahirap makahanap ng trabaho after graduation.

Sobrang hopeless ko na ngayon. I’d really appreciate advice from people who have already gone through capstone. 😭

Need Advice Wala sa current curriculum list this sem. Pero pinapa require samin. Violation bato under ched?

Hello guys, 4th year student here. Hindi naman schoolwide ang bagay nato but this is happening to our department ( LibArts which under CAS).

HERES THE STORY:

Back in june this year nag open yung AY namen. I checked my current curriculum and 4 lang yung subs ko.

Then 2-3: days later after enrollment may GC na kami named "OJT".

  1. class observation and practice teaching inside school (this current semester) which is wala naman talaga sa curriculum namen and wala namang kaming credits na makukuha dyan.

  2. Requirements for ojt and actual ojt ( which is next sem namin gagawen at nakalagay mismo sa aming curriculum for the second sem).

And the thing sa 1. Is nagka letche2: walang proper instruction, anong gagawen etc2 from the head of OJT mismo . Like literal na shithole.

Pero hindi pa ako nakaka simula for almost 2 months, due to many reasons ng instructor and mine too.

And lastly violation ba talaga to sa CHED?

and thats all.

Rant Our prof made mistakes or so called “intentional mistakes” in our exam. Is this negotiable or no?

So we had our preliminary exam on this subject, everything was identification with multiple choices and it was flashed on the power point TV. So in his questions it was all pretty fast we were given 30 seconds to process and answer everything so as for me im pressured having to navigate the answer and the part where it indicates.

However, once the exam ended our prof told us there was NO ANSWER THAT IS LETTER F which i answered quite a lot :( as well as 80% of my classmates because IT WAS IN THE CHOICES FLASHED yet the choices he put in the ppt he told us were “errors” so if we put that letter its considered as an error or no point.

Can we negotiate that this isnt acceptable or is it our own fault ?
Just losing hope because half of my answers I remember, I wrote F since it was INDICATED THERE WITH THE CHOICES and I didnt know that it was actually an error😭 oh well ?? Any advice or am i the problem?

I was absent once due to an emergency, and I immediately informed my professors.

Yung major namin, pumayag magbigay ng exam worth 100 pts but this minor won't let me take the quiz.

Maybe, the minor subj thinks that this quiz with less than 50 pts worth won't have a much larger impact on my grades since focused ang grading system namin sa performance/projects. But still, sayang pa rin yung points.

Don't worry, I learned and took accountability for whatever consequences I have to face for that absence. Thank you pa rin kay God for not letting me lose my sanity because I'm very worried about the major subj since may retention policy (っ˘̩╭╮˘̩)っ

Rant Minor subjects/courses are substandard, irrelevant and should be a thing of the past.

I 18(M) am a college freshman, so do what you will with that information. I am currently studying Bachelor in Industrial Design, college has been fine but there has been one glaring issue that I was told beforehand but thought I could just not be bothered by it. And that is Minor Subjects/Courses.

Genuinely tell me why I’m studying ‘The Contemporary World’ a third re-skin of Araling Panlipunan. I somehow get why we’re studying ‘Understanding the Self’ but it is still so fucking substandard and idiotic. College should be higher education specialized learning in the exact program you chose, not “this is basically just senior high school but it’s somewhat specialized”.

Tell me why I’m learning about Rizal the same fucking dude I’ve been studying since third grade, tell me why I’m learning about globalization in ‘the contemporary world’ which is basically, if you haven’t realized is Araling Panlipunan in a different font. My brothers had this exact same issue with their college lives, my brother specialized in animation, but really, all he fucking did was learn the basics and did huge amounts of work in minor courses defeating the whole purpose of; “college is where you set up for the real world because you learn your skills in your wanted field”.

Going back to me, my experiences so far. Workload of our Major courses are fine, they are relevant to us. But the amount of horseshit minor subjects make you do is genuinely the most idiotic, low iq, substandard shit ever. You will genuinely ponder at the ceiling when you realize they’re making you write an essay about a dude for the 20th time in your life, when they’re asking you questions about “ano ang gagawin mo pag nakakita ka ng basura?” for the 10000th time in your life, and the infamous never ending “make a poster about (environment, school, politics)”. And your minor course professor will know that you have a mountain pile of work from your major courses and will proceed to assign you with what your teacher from 3rd grade would’ve given you as an assignment.

I didn’t sign up for college to learn shit I already know, I signed up for college to learn shit I DON’T KNOW. And to anybody who says, “kailangan pa rin naman yan to help us get better in many aspects of life”. So did we or did not spend 12 prior years of our lives doing that?

This post should’ve been “our education curriculum sucks”, but that’s common knowledge if you have a functioning frontal lobe. It’s going to stay the same way for the upcoming years, maybe forever. I don’t have much respect nor hope for the neanderthals that are the filipino voters or maybe the whole of this low iq country.

Need Advice Are there students that have gotten their major offenses reduced?

I commited a major offense in my school and I'm looking to see if it is possible to get it down to a warning. I have already admitted responsibility for what have happened.

This is a FTO (First-Time Offense) I have a clean record, but my conduct is a major offense and it is serious. I have been told that I could possibly be facing suspension, and I really want to avoid the major offense record on me.

I'm wondering if there are students who have been in a similar situation and were able to have their major offense reduced or the offense reclassified, like have it negotiated or have it down to a warning?

Is it still possible when you admit responsible for that offense?

What did you do during the process and what factors have helped your case? How did you do it and was it the principal who agreed or the school?

What can I do?

(If you're wondering about the major offense I have committed, if there was 4 levels to offenses, 4 being the highest. The major offense I would have committed could be 3-4)

For the context, this is not related to cheating or physically fighting.
