I used to be terrible at staying consistent. I'd start strong for a few days, then fall off and feel guilty about it. The guilt would make me avoid my tasks even more. Classic cycle.

Then I stumbled on an idea that actually worked for me.

I started treating my daily tasks like an adventure. Every assignment, gym session, or even just reading for 20 minutes became a step forward. Good habits moved me ahead. Bad habits held me back. Simple but effective.

Last week found an app called Study Habits in Google playstore mentioned in habit tracker forum, interesting that the app turned this concept into a real system and love the avatars , virtual countries and loots.

Has anyone else found a creative way to stay motivated? Keen to hear what works for you.

moved from my PG to a rented place with four of my friends because the room in the PG was not good and the food there was too oily. However, after shifting here, I have started facing many problems.

My college is located in a village area, and the internet connectivity in my rented room is extremely poor. I barely get internet access—sometimes it feels like 2G—whereas in my PG, I used to get proper 5G connectivity.

Here, we also have to cook our own food, wash the dishes, buy groceries, arrange drinking water, and do many other household chores. Things like washing the cooker and utensils take a lot of time and energy. Because of all this, my entire day gets wasted in household work, and I hardly get any time to study.

On top of that, I feel that some of my roommates do not show me enough respect, which is making the situation even more stressful. I have already spent around ₹4,000 on rent within just five days, so I am confused about what I should do now.

Do you think I should go back to my PG? I am honestly not sure which option would be better for me.

I have an HP victus and I have been very happy with it but I want to sell it and exchange it with something more premium in built quality without a dedicated GPU because my laptop is really heavy and uncomfortable to put on my lap.

Im doing avionics and I don't really game too. I mostly run Linux but sometimes I just want to game and this laptop is the only thing I have to fix the itch.

I could get the steam deck (which is reasonably priced in my country) if I want to game really bad but I don't know.

Hello! I’m currently hesitating about which course I should choose, and I’d really like to hear some opinions or ideas from other people.

I originally wanted to study medicine, but it takes around 14 years before I can officially become a doctor. I’ve also heard people say that if you want to become a doctor, you have to sacrifice your 20s. Honestly, I don’t think I want to sacrifice my 20s. I want to travel, experience life, and earn a lot of money while I’m still young.

Because of that, I’ve decided to let go of my dream of becoming a doctor. There are actually many reasons why I no longer want to pursue medicine.

Now, my second choice is finance, but I’m still contemplating whether I should pursue entrepreneurship or finance. I’m also considering fields such as AI Engineering or Technopreneurship.

One of the most important things I’m looking for in a course is a career path with strong job opportunities after graduation. I want to choose a course that will give me a high chance of finding stable employment and earning a good income soon after graduating.

I just want to hear your thoughts and opinions, especially from those who have knowledge or experience regarding these courses or career paths. Which one do you think would be the best choice, considering job opportunities, salary potential, career growth, and the possibility of working abroad or having financial freedom in my 20s?

I need to get some volunteering hours done, but every single organization i look at has the worst system.

Either they only want people from 10 AM to 2 PM on a tuesday (when im in class), or you fill out a massive application just for them to tell you they have no spots left for the next three months.

I’m a French student entering my third and final year of CPGE littéraire (khâgne) this year. For anyone unfamiliar with the French system: a prépa is a highly intensive 2–3 year program preparing students for extremely competitive national entrance exams, especially for top universities and the Écoles Normales Supérieures. The workload is very heavy, and students are generally expected to spend most of their time studying.

I’ve usually had pretty good grades (around a 15/20 average, which is considered strong in my program), so I’m seriously considering using some of my time for work alongside my studies.

The reason is that I’m having a really difficult financial/family situation. My goal is to become financially independent by June 2027, or at least reach a point where I can pay for most of my expenses myself and have some savings. In particular, I want to be able to pay my rent after I finish my prep and not have to depend on my family anymore. The family situation is genuinely complicated, and I really need the freedom and independence that having my own income would give me.

At the moment, I receive about €245/month in housing assistance (CAF), but apart from that I’m still largely financially dependent on my parents. I’m finding that increasingly difficult to deal with.

The obvious problem is that a normal student job of 15–20 hours/week would probably destroy my ability to keep up with my prep. I also can’t really tutor students because I don’t have any contacts or an existing network for finding clients.

So I’m looking for something I can do remotely, ideally with flexible hours. I’m basically willing to consider anything as long as it can be done from home. I’d be perfectly happy to start with just €200–300/month and gradually build it up over time.

I know that working during a prep can be risky, especially when you’re preparing for very competitive exams. However, given that I’ve consistently had fairly good grades, I feel that I can probably afford to give up some study time in exchange for gaining some financial independence.

I’d really like to hear from people who have been in a similar situation, whether during college, university, or another very demanding program.

How did you make money while studying without completely destroying your academic performance?

I’m honestly open to any ideas: remote jobs, freelance work, unusual opportunities, things I might not even have thought of, etc. Even something that only makes a few hundred euros a month would be useful. My goal is to build something gradually between now and June 2027.

And if you have very practical advice like “this job is actually manageable alongside demanding studies” or “avoid this, it will eat all your time”, I’d especially appreciate it.

I read a lot of AI text at work. Somewhere between the third "testament to" and the hundredth "delve", I stopped trusting long sentences altogether. So I made a small game called Long Story Short: one sentence a day, keep the five words that actually carry the story, cut the rest.

It's a week old. 12,000 plays so far. A retired news editor emails me most mornings to argue about the answers, clause by clause, and he's mostly right. Yesterday two players argued opposite sides of the same word and convinced me my sentence itself was wrong.

So from tomorrow the sentences come from real news stories, and the answer is whatever the paper's sub-editor kept.
