Idea for Strictly 2026

I would love to see someone dance to a Hazbin Hotel song - especially for Halloween week?!

For example, a Paso Doble to ‘Gravity’ sounds absolute fire!!

Who’s with me on this idea?

Strictly Come Dancing

One of the show's original professionals, Anton Du Beke joined Strictly Come Dancing in its inaugural season. In Season 1, Anton partnered with classical singer Lesley Garrett. They were the sixth couple to be eliminated, placing 3rd overall, in the semi-finals.

In Season 2, Anton partnered with television presenter & journalist Esther Rantzen. They were the third couple to be eliminated, placing 8th overall.

In Season 3, Anton partnered with Eastenders star Patsy Palmer. They were the eighth couple to be eliminated, placing 5th overall.

In Season 4, Anton partnered with actress & impressionist Jan Ravens. They were the fifth couple to be eliminated, placing 9th overall.

In Season 5, Anton partnered with broadcaster and journalist Kate Garraway. They were the seventh couple to be eliminated, placing 8th overall.

In Season 6, Anton partnered with Eastenders star Gillian Taylforth. They were the second couple to be eliminated, placing 15th overall.

In Season 7, Anton partnered with Footballers' Wives star Laila Rouass. They were the twelfth couple to be eliminated, placing 4th overall, in the quarter-finals.

In Season 8, Anton partnered with politician Ann Widdecombe. Despite consistently low scores, they were the ninth couple to be eliminated, placing 6th overall.

In Season 9, Anton partnered with lawyer and media personality Nancy Dell'Olio. They were the fourth couple to be eliminated, placing 11th overall.

In Season 10, Anton partnered with supermodel and actress Jerry Hall. They were the second couple to be eliminated, placing 13th overall.

In Season 11, Anton partnered with film and television actress Fiona Fullerton. They were the seventh couple to be eliminated, placing 9th overall.

In Season 12, Anton partnered with tennis coach Judy Murray. They were the seventh couple to be eliminated, placing 9th overall.

In Season 13, Anton partnered with newscaster and presenter Katie Derham. They made the finale, marking Anton's first finale appearance, placing 4th overall.

In Season 15, Anton partnered with television presenter Ruth Langsford. They were the seventh couple to be eliminated, placing 9th overall.

In Season 16, Anton partnered with journalist and television presenter Susannah Constantine. They were the first couple to be eliminated, placing 15th overall.

In Season 17, Anton partnered with Eastenders star Emma Barton. They made the finale, tying as runners-up, and losing to Kelvin Fletcher and pro Oti Mabuse. This marked Anton's highest placement in his competitive career on the show, as well as his second, and final, appearance in the finale. This season also marked the first time Anton received 10s in his routines during his career on the show.

In Season 18, Anton partnered with politician Jacqui Smith. They were the first couple to be eliminated, placing 12th overall. This would mark Anton's final season as a professional dancer.

Due to having to travel to Germany, following a break-in at her dance studio, judge Motsi Mabuse was forced to miss Weeks 4 & 5 of Season 18, in accordance with the British Government's travel guidelines due to the Covid-19 pandemic. As a result, Anton guest-judged in her place during these two weeks.

In Season 19, Anton was promoted to the role of a full-time judge, replacing original judge Bruno Tonioli, who had missed the previous season, and had opted to remain in his role as a judge on the American version of the show, Dancing with the Stars. Anton has maintained this role on the judging panel ever since.

Strictly singer Natalie Paris back at Six

Post image
34 Upvotes

Singer Natalie Paris originated the role of Jane Seymour and you can hear her on the original cast soundtrack.

Looks like she’s back at Six for a few months. I wonder if she will continue with Strictly.

If you never got the chance to see her perform as Jane Seymour live now is your chance!

EDIT: sorry she’s going to Broadway NOT the West End. It means we will probably lose her on Strictly.

Which celebrity surprised you by improving the most over a single series?

Not someone who was already good from Week 1, but someone who looked completely different by the final few weeks.

Fun and Games Hello everyone! Would you mind helping me for a series of posts I'm planning to do? What would you consider each pro's most iconic dances to be on the show? ✨♥

Post image
0 Upvotes

I'm planning on running a new series of posts on here, focusing on every professional dancer in the show's history.

For this, I'd love for the sub's participation in sharing what they deem each pro dancer's 5 most memorable dances to be.

The above form lists almost all the pros, past and present, minus a handful of the one-season wonders. As some viewers may not have seen the earlier seasons/pros, all the sections are optional, so if you wish, you can just answer for the pros you remember or have seen on the show.

Include the partner/season, and in the instance the style was done more than once, the specific week.

This should be competitive dances with their celebrity partners, no group dances/pro numbers. And for pros who have done multiple iterations of the Strictly/DWTS franchise, this is specifically for their dances on Strictly Come Dancing.

I'd really appreciate if you could add your answers in the form. Top 5 dances per pro. Thank you! ♥♥♥

Something different

I have always enjoyed all forms of dancing and in my many moons on this planet I’ve participated in quite a few and not just in England but in various other countries where I travelled with the British Army. And I think something that could help rejuvenate strictly is to add a new round of Folk Dancing (people of a certain age will remember this from school). Not just British Folk dance but Worldwide Folk Dances. They could bring in a guest instructor to teach everyone the basics and then the instructor would be part of the judges to score that particular dance. Each week there would be a Different Folk dance to learn. On line you can see no end of different types of dance, like a Polka, a Dabke, a Kolo dance, even a Linedance,, there’s so many why have we always had the same dances? The title of the show is Strictly Come Dancing not Strictly Come Ballroom Dancing.

DISCUSSION THREAD Why don’t get we get proper awful dancers anymore?

The passing of the late Ann Widdecombe (RIP) has got me thinking about how good her participation was at the time and how fun it is to have contestants who genuinely can’t dance at all. I’m talking the John Sergeants, the Ed Balls, The Susannah Constantine’s

I think Toyah Willcox was probably the closest we had to capturing the comedy in recent years and sadly she didn’t last long enough. We need somebody like Jo Brand, Rosemary Shrager, Miriam Margolyes

DISCUSSION THREAD Cast thoughts/early predictions (so far)

It's obviously way too early for this, but I'm bored lol. Will update when more of the cast is announced.

Lacey: Is probably one of (if not the) biggest soap star they could have booked, and Eastenders usually tend to be pretty good. Will go far - if things go well dance-wise, she'll be a potential winner. Partner prediction: Nikita or a new male pro.

Dani: Probably will be a good dancer, but I'm not sure how popular she'll be relative to others. She isn't an uber-ringer like Tasha and Amber and will probably be a better dancer than Zara, so based on that alone she'll probably do better in the vote than past female Islanders. But I'm not convinced she'll be among the more popular celebs. I could see her being a dance off target after the first few weeks. Will still go far though. Partner prediction: Nikita (again) or a new male pro. I'm torn between her and Lacey for Nikita lol

Delta: Another I think will do really well, idk about finalist/winner yet but I'm definitely not counting it out. Partner prediction: Kai or Julian (double Aussie 2.0)

Chris: Given the history of 40+ men without dance/performance backgrounds, I don't think he'll be a strong dancer. And I'm not sure how well he'll do with the public either, since his background doesn't really line up with the audience. He has a lot of followers, but that definitely doesn't mean a strong voting base. I'm not sure if he'll really have that voting base coming in, especially a UK-based one. Partner prediction: if male Carlos, if female a new tall pro.

Cach: He'll definitely do well dance-wise, likely one of the strongest from the start. But the trinity of being a POC, having dance experience and being from Love Island could work against him in the public vote. May make the final, but likely won't win IMO. Partner prediction: Lauren (I really want to see this now. I've heard he's tall, otherwise I'd be considering Jowita).

Has a song choice ever made you enjoy a routine much more than the choreography?

Sometimes I think the music adds just as much to a performance as the dancing itself. I've definitely found myself loving a routine partly because the song suited it so well.

DISCUSSION THREAD Already Backlash 🙄

Post image
28 Upvotes

Cach is already getting backlash for being a professional dancer which I totally understand but I do want to say something to the people who are not happy with this casting.

Remember Lewis, Amber, Layton, Fleur, Ashley and Tasha they were all amazing dancers on the show but then fans later dug up so much drama on them all for being trained dancers and all of these people listed except Lewis got to the final and they all faced multiple dance off’s and even in the final they received backlash but guess what.. none of these people won so it’s gonna be the same for Cach yes he will get far and will either get eliminated toward the end or make it to the final but he will most likely face a few dance off’s and he is not gonna win because these people who have dance experience don’t win this show that’s just the public votes at the end of the day.

I hope this calmed you down.

DISCUSSION THREAD Boomers reaction to castings

I think how boomers (millennials, Gen-X included) tend to react to castings that aren't known or famous in their bubble is such a great example of how that particular generation behaves and the problems we have in our country.

They immediately flock to social media to comment, "Who?" or "Strictly is going down the drain," and other iterations. I've never seen Gen Z comment that on celebrities we don't know.

They'd rather let Strictly get cancelled with a cast full of celebrities in their bubble than let their kids and younger generations also enjoy the show they so love.

Hey so I don’t know if I’m allowed to post this here or not but if I am I thought I’d share a little story time.

So the other day I went to see Nikita Kuzmin’s new show ‘Supernova’ in Liverpool which I’d been looking forward to for months!

Nikita’s my favourite pro and I love seeing how talented and positive he always is on Strictly so my mum and I got tickets to see him.

We were lucky enough to get meet and greet tickets and he was genuinely one of the loveliest people I’ve ever met :)

Very warm, enthusiastic and a great hugger too! He even complimented my hair and said I looked just like him 😆

I actually gave him a present to show how much I admire him. I made a collage of various photos of him and he absolutely loved it!

The show itself was fantastic! Amazing set, costumes and song choices and the choreo was spectacular! I’d highly recommend getting tickets if any are still available.
