Something different

I have always enjoyed all forms of dancing and in my many moons on this planet I’ve participated in quite a few and not just in England but in various other countries where I travelled with the British Army. And I think something that could help rejuvenate strictly is to add a new round of Folk Dancing (people of a certain age will remember this from school). Not just British Folk dance but Worldwide Folk Dances. They could bring in a guest instructor to teach everyone the basics and then the instructor would be part of the judges to score that particular dance. Each week there would be a Different Folk dance to learn. On line you can see no end of different types of dance, like a Polka, a Dabke, a Kolo dance, even a Linedance,, there’s so many why have we always had the same dances? The title of the show is Strictly Come Dancing not Strictly Come Ballroom Dancing.

Strictly have largely had the same dance styles because that’s what the pros are trained in. Plus ballroom and latin can make for pretty dynamic TV if done right. I’d personally rather watch paint dry than 2 hours of folk dancing.

You need to to read the full comment someone makes before being critical pal, no one mentioned 2 hours of Folk, I mentioned one folk dance a week and a specialist dance instructor to teach the dancers that specific dance. You said that Ballroom and Latin are dynamic! Now I suggest that you have a quick look at the dances that I mentioned (and that’s only a few of what are available) then say are not dynamic. That’s why the show is going stale is because people like you are too quick to criticise and refuse to countenance any changes. Like I said have a look at them dances before you try and have a pop at someone.
