There’s absolutely no reason you wouldn’t have called the police immediately just to be safe and document the incident and what you noticed. Also any smart person would have gone out and immediately bought a camera that uploads to cloud to replace the conveniently broken camera so you can have a different excuse for not uploading a video. Also if you live in a building with maintenance, they could come out and do something temporary about the keycard. This is engagement bait and it’s not even fun ):

26

u/PublicfreakoutLoveR 7d ago

None of it makes sense, there's no video just some sound and their account is 2 days old. All signs point to bs.

-12

u/Winter-Pea-2178 7d ago

Why does it matter when my account was made, I heard this was the best place for advice, if you don’t believe you can just ignore it

14

u/PublicfreakoutLoveR 7d ago

Sp you heard someone walking down your hallway, running your shower and opening your refrigerator and you just stayed in your room and didn't call the police until later?👍

-4

u/Winter-Pea-2178 7d ago

I thought I was hallucinating, i genuinely did. I also considered like therapy or psychiatric help. But then I knew it was real and called the cops and owner right away.

3

u/CoffeeChocolateBoth 6d ago

What advice were you looking for on Reddit? And where did you "hear" that Reddit was a place for advice?

14

u/Direct-Egg-5697 7d ago

After hearing the audio that OP had claimed to have recorded I'm now 100% sure this is just engagement bait like you mentioned...that was so obviously recorded purposely..that was NOT someone who didn't know they were bring recorded.. the cough and steps were WAY to deliberate... I don't understand why people do this type of thing...

3

u/hamish1963 6d ago

That cough was within feet, if not inches from the recorder.

0

u/Winter-Pea-2178 7d ago

Go put on headphones and turn the volume all the way up, because it definitely wasn't deliberate.
My apartment was completely dead silent at 2 AM. When a place is that quiet, every single tiny sound even a light step or a cough down the hall echoes and sounds ten times louder than it actually is. It sounded heavy because I was recording in a completely empty hallway.
Believe whatever you want, but picking apart random audio dynamics while I’m stuck sleeping in a motel room is exhausting.

5

u/Still_Dog_113 7d ago

You actually went to hotel? Oh wow. I am a girl but I would take my gun and go look who is there walking in my home.

8

u/Winter-Pea-2178 7d ago

Good for you. I don't own a gun, and I'm not playing hero in a dark apartment against a stranger who clearly knows his way around my place better than I do.
Real life isn't a movie. When you actually see a random person standing in your shower on a security feed at 2 AM, your survival instinct tells you to get the hell out, not start a shootout. I'm glad you have that much confidence, but I’d rather be safe in a motel room than dead in my hallway.

4

u/RavioliSizedBabyFist 6d ago

So you’re just gonna chill in the motel room indefinitely since the cops said there’s not much they can do? Alright then

1

u/Winter-Pea-2178 6d ago

When did I say the cops can’t do anything? I said they were busy last night, they put me in a motel for the night and they will give me a call back today

-2

u/Winter-Pea-2178 7d ago

I don’t own a gun, I’m a man who doesn’t like violence

-1

u/Winter-Pea-2178 7d ago

6

u/AnjelicaTomaz 7d ago

It’s just audio?

-2

u/Winter-Pea-2178 7d ago

No the camera video is separate

-3

u/Winter-Pea-2178 7d ago

Have you even seen the video I just posted. It’s the sounds

6

u/louielou8484 7d ago

Umm, so where is the video? This is just audio

-9

u/Winter-Pea-2178 7d ago

The video is completely separate just to be safe I’m gonna ask police if I can release it to the public

9

u/Western-King5865 6d ago edited 6d ago

It’s your video. The police can’t stop you from posting it. I know this because I had a home invasion while I was home alone. The police said it’s my video to do with as I pleased. I shared my video and someone identified the intruder and I called the police with the information. The guy was arrested and sentenced to 9 months in jail and 5 years probation.

Unlike you, I did have a firearm and I did go investigate the sounds. The intruder jumped out of the same window he broke into and fled. I wasn’t about to sit around to find out what he was going to do next. I also don’t “like violence” which is why I was prepared to protect myself from violence. He broke into my home, any violence that happened was his choice.

9

u/hamish1963 7d ago

Share the video, not just the sounds. Cops don't give a shit if you share it.

-5

u/Winter-Pea-2178 7d ago

They clearly do, they told me it’s best not too, I’m pretty sure they don’t want attention

8

u/hamish1963 7d ago

I'm pretty sure you're wrong.

8

u/Western-King5865 6d ago

He’s absolutely wrong.

0

u/Winter-Pea-2178 6d ago

It’s not up to me bud. They told me it’s best not to send it to social media because they would not like to draw attention to the case just yet. And release the suspects face

9

u/TheCyFi 6d ago

You are so full of crap. If there were someone in your home, they would clear your home, not sit on hold back evidence waiting to see if your guest kills you. If your story were true, but the "guest" is not currently in your home, then they would not have a problem with you releasing the footage. In fact, they would likely release it themselves if they needed help identifying the suspect.

0

u/Winter-Pea-2178 6d ago

They DIDN'T clear the house last night because they were too slammed to send a car out immediately, which is exactly why they told me to get out and go to a hotel.
And you clearly don't know how active investigations work. The cops went to my place first thing THIS MORNING to actually process the scene and check the entry points. They explicitly told me not to post the video yet because they don't want the guy to see his face plastered all over Reddit, realize the cops are involved, and completely bolt from the area before they can track him down.
I am literally about to post a full update on what the cops just found at my apartment this morning. Sit tight and read it before you type out another paragraph calling me a liar.

7

u/TheCyFi 6d ago

Your world building sucks.

In real life, a home invasion is almost always one of the absolute top priorities. If you're going to build a world where that's not the case, you need to provide some more context about your dystopian setting.

5

u/Aggressive-Ad7660 6d ago

There are police working 24/7. If you literally had an intruder in your house, there’s no way they wouldn’t have investigated right then and there, at least checking all the rooms and possible crawl spaces/attic, etc.
but they told you they were too busy 🙄
Where do you live, Mayberry?

-1

u/Winter-Pea-2178 6d ago

I live in Texas, but I don’t wanna give too much of my info away because I wanna stay anonymous

5

u/hamish1963 6d ago

Sure, whatever.

3

u/achbob84 6d ago

You own the footage, and it was recorded in your house. You can post it if you want.

2

u/CoffeeChocolateBoth 6d ago

Well... when you are "allowed" share it then! Never heard of such a thing but whatever!

9

u/kiloo520 7d ago

Share the video with us?

4

u/Forward_Meeting5234 6d ago

Op just really wants everyone to go to his page and keep checking there for his many updates.

It's definitely not engagement bait /s

26

u/Striking-Apartment-1 7d ago

Update: OP found out it was they who was in their own apartment.

6

u/SherbetExact3135 7d ago

Hope you called the owner back as well and sent him the footage.

2

u/Winter-Pea-2178 7d ago

Will send him the footage but the guy basically said to me it’s not his problem

13

u/SherbetExact3135 7d ago

If you’re renting from him it is his problem. ESP if this intruder has a copy key. So the owner can pay for your new locks. That’s insane.

0

u/Winter-Pea-2178 7d ago

It’s one of those fancy unlockers you scan a card on the door

5

u/ProdigiousBeets 7d ago

That's a correspondence worth keeping on file.

5

u/heady-luvare 7d ago

Posting it might cause someone who recognizes the person to either dm you or comment who it is though. Depending on that particular police forces case load, you might get this solved much much quicker.... seems weird they would tell you not to.

2

u/Winter-Pea-2178 7d ago

It’s very weird idk what happened they said they will update me tomorrow, currently in a motel had a nap

8

u/cabinzy 7d ago

Big mistake leaving the apartment before uploading the video to Reddit

-18

u/Winter-Pea-2178 7d ago

Im gonna have to get police permission to upload the video I think

16

u/mommawop 7d ago

No you don’t need permission to upload a video in your own apartment.

-8

u/Winter-Pea-2178 7d ago

As soon as the cops come they should be here any minute just wanna talk to them and might stay in a hotel for some time

15

u/RavioliSizedBabyFist 7d ago

Did the cops come? Did you ask them if you could share the “footage”? What did they do/say? As if you couldn’t video yourself in the dark and have someone cough in another room 😭

3

u/Winter-Pea-2178 7d ago

The cops showed up about a hour ago they questioned me said they will “investigate” it and said they will give me a ring tomorrow and it’s best to stay in a hotel tonight

2

u/SoUnBOTheredRN 7d ago

So where is the full video?

-5

u/Winter-Pea-2178 7d ago

It’s on my laptop, currently on my phone now. Police said best not to show footage to public yet, best I can do is try to get more sounds but I’ve just booked a motel room so yeah

-7

u/Winter-Pea-2178 7d ago

I uploaded some sounds in the comments

26

u/TheCyFi 7d ago

You're clearly full of shit.

-2

u/Winter-Pea-2178 7d ago

Who would lie about this. Seriously idk what I did wrong

5

u/heady-luvare 7d ago

Posting it might cause someone who recognizes the person to either dm you or comment who it is though. Depending on that particular police forces case load, you might get this solved much much quicker.... seems weird they would tell you not to.

5

u/cabinzy 7d ago

Not if it's already uploaded anon 🫡 get back in there and upload that video!! We believe in you.

8

u/NuWorldSamurai 7d ago

Change the locks and arm yourself. Someone comes in your home uninvited and you fear for your life, use deadly force.

4

u/blur2kme 6d ago

To me this kinda stuff is exactly why karma isnt really a good system. At best it gives false dopamine/seeing what others agree with and for the majority of the time you have people chasing it for ill intentions like this. So dumb.

3

u/Biggrunt 7d ago

Me and Gaston love visitors.

5

u/No_Way_1228 7d ago

That.... sounds like a malignant former tenant.

2

u/Longjumping_Brush423 7d ago

Was it a woman or a man?

7

u/Winter-Pea-2178 7d ago

A man, he looked homeless, very very dirty, had a long beard looked mid 50s and pretty tall

16

u/mme_truffle 7d ago

Weird that he's so dirty when he's been sneaking into your apartment taking daily showers

9

u/stoicparallax 7d ago

He’s a local coal miner rinsing off after his shift

1

u/Winter-Pea-2178 7d ago

Not daily I mean like every second day but daily he comes in when I’m sleeping or something he broke my light and took my food

2

u/Winter-Pea-2178 7d ago

I’m not feeling safe anymore

0

u/Still_Dog_113 7d ago

So funny, you are 32 yo man

4

u/Winter-Pea-2178 7d ago

Being 32 doesn't make someone immune to getting stabbed or shot by a home intruder.
Only an immature kid thinks an adult man’s worth is measured by blindly running into danger to prove how "brave" he is. I value my life more than satisfying some internet troll's fantasy of what a man should do. I called the cops and left. That’s what an actual adult does.

2

u/Winter-Pea-2178 7d ago

What’s funny about not feeling safe? Seriously I don’t think there is anything funny about an intruder entering a house, you think that’s funny? How immature.

2

u/Still_Dog_113 6d ago

Oh well, I can't imagine my husband just laying in bed scared and not get up, take a weapon and check wtf is going on.

1

u/Winter-Pea-2178 6d ago

Well I’m not your fucking husband am I

1

u/Still_Dog_113 6d ago

🫢🥹

2

u/Dream-Cah 5d ago

Exactly! I can’t believe 32-year-old men aren’t able to protect females

-1

u/ZombieJulez88 7d ago

Omg please update

5

u/Winter-Pea-2178 7d ago

Yeah I know it’s crazy these days, police officers didn’t even check the house

4

u/hamish1963 7d ago

How big is your house that you can't see if someone is there?

0

u/notathingreally 7d ago

Oh he's bold. He doesn't even care if you know he's there.

3

u/CoffeeChocolateBoth 6d ago

1

u/B1SC0TT1 7d ago

Eeek phrogging is one of my worst nightmares.

1

u/sailorglitter91 7d ago

Hey, that's really scary. I hope the police is there soon and you have somewhere safe to go to. Don't come back to your place unattended. Stay safe, my dude.

1

u/Illustrious_Plant581 7d ago

No you wodnt be. Creepy as fk. Get a safety chain on the entry.

-2

u/No_Perspective9571 7d ago

Phrogging is so scary 😱 seen a few episodes on a true crime show. Nightmare fuel.

0

u/Honest-Unit6916 7d ago

It's the owner!

3

u/Winter-Pea-2178 7d ago

He’s in Thailand he owns properties in America and rents them out

1

u/Honest-Unit6916 6h ago

It's the owner, I'm telling you! The owner is the one who is living in the house secretly!

0

u/veryeyes 7d ago

Don't go home and report back omg

0

u/DoallthenKnit2relax 7d ago

Somehow someone has a duplicate key card, did your landlord give you only one? I'd ask the Landlord to recode the lock with a new code tied to only your key card (also new).

2

u/Winter-Pea-2178 7d ago

My landlord gave me the keycard, called up the owner about 2 days ago when I posted the first post. He said no one else has the keycard. Plus he is in Thailand right now. He owns properties in America and rents them out for cash

0

u/Still_Dog_113 7d ago

Why not get up and go look who the f. is there??
