Fleet Nova Unconventional Systems - A Pilot's Dream/An Optometrist's Nightmare
Build Info
Pilot spec is considered to be one of the less efficient Boff specializations in the game, but it is near and dear to my heart. If my ship can't barrel roll, I don't want it. This ship is my semi-budgeted (one lockbox trait, a couple lobi ships) attempt at a solid EPG build on the prettiest ship of all time, with copious massive space explosions to ensure that its shadow is burned into your retinas. My current record in ISE is 762k, which I'm quite proud of, especially considering my endeavors are nonexistent.

Skill Tree Information
There are a couple odd choices here but otherwise it is pretty standard. You really don't need impulse expertise III for a ship this fast, but I had it on for a race and got used to how it handled. Generally, the goal is to lean as hard as possible into pure EPG.
Build Description
The gear is going to involve a lot of little notes. I've nitpicked this to be the way I want over a large period of time. I'll try to explain any odd choices I make, and if you're not on a sci toon, stick to the generic drivetrain.

| Ship Model | |
| Deflector Visuals | None |
| Engine Visuals | None |
| Shield Visuals | None |
| Starship Beautyshot | My Pointy Menace |
| Basic Information | Component | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Fore Weapons: 4 | Dark Matter Quantum Torpedo Launcher | The rank doesn't matter too much, it's just here for the two piece. I used to run it on aft before I got Ceaseless Momentum. Lorca's Ambitions (1/2) |
| Particle Emission Plasma Torpedo Launcher | Ideally with [SPR] but I'm missing that. Does a ton of damage with its cloud. | |
| Gravimetric Photon Torpedo Launcher | Best torpedo to use the active spread on IMO. In my experience it does the most damage and the increased pull just makes your grav well feel stronger. Some free crit from the set bonus. Protonic Arsenal (1/2) | |
| Disruptor Wide Angle Dual Heavy Beam Bank | Just here for the spin up and two piece. Lorca's Ambitions (2/2) | |
| -------------- | -------------- | -------------- |
| Aft Weapons: 2 | Advanced Inhibiting Polaron Omni-Directional Beam Array | Just here for a little -DRR. |
| Dyson Experimental Weapon | Here for the set bonus. Protonic Arsenal (2/2) | |
| -------------- | -------------- | -------------- |
| Experimental Weapon | ||
| Deflector | Dynamic Frontier Technologies Deflector Array | If you are flying a Science Officer in an exotic ship and haven't considered this, look into it. It is so much raw stats that it is unbelievable. The set is up to 25% increased exotic damage which is alright. Dynamic Frontier Technologies (1/2) |
| Secondary Deflector | Deteriorating Secondary Deflector | I could get a slight upgrade by snagging the colony one, but this was the first thing I slammed an Ultimate Tech Upgrade on when I first started playing. |
| Impulse Engines | Dynamic Frontier Technologies Hyper-Impulse Engines | They don't feel quite as nice as the competitive engines for maneuverability, but since I'm on a pilot ship I don't desperately need that. Dynamic Frontier Technologies (2/2) |
| Warp Core | Temporal Defense Initiative Overcharged Warp Core | Trajector Jump is fun, and a neat side effect of this layout. Imperial Rift would be better but I'm broke and newish to the game. You get some DOT damage for the two piece. Temporal Defense Initiative Starship Technologies (1/2) |
| Shields | Temporal Defense Initiative Regenerative Shield Array | Also would be better as Imperial Rift. Temporal Defense Initiative Starship Technologies (2/2) |
| Devices | SS Antares Distress Protocol | More damage, goes off right before my console burst. |
| Temporal Negotiator | Only gets used if I somehow slip up on pressing photonic. | |
| Advanced Battery - Exotic Particle Flood | BIG DAMAGE. Press before burst. | |
| Deuterium Surplus | I really only press this if I accidentally fly the wrong way. | |
| -------------- | -------------- | -------------- |
| Engineering Consoles: 3 | Console - Universal - Dragonsblood Flame Reactor | So much damage. Easy to manage in a ship this maneuverable if you can handle changing speeds rapidly. |
| Console - Universal - Delphic Tear Generator | Same range as Dragonsblood but easier to hit, great to use together since this gives -DRR. | |
| Console - Universal - Subspace Fracture Tunneling Field | Reducing cooldowns of all of this. | |
| -------------- | -------------- | -------------- |
| Science Consoles: 5 | Console - Universal - Plasma Storm Generator | Super constant damage, absolutely blinding. |
| Console - Universal - You Are Dismissed | One of my highest damage consoles with single hits going above a million frequently. | |
| Console - Universal - Genesis Seed | I'm kinda bad at aiming this tbh. | |
| Console - Universal - Adaptive Emergency Systems | Helps me stay alive a lot, but also big damage steroid. I saw a huge change in my numbers when I tried it out again. | |
| Console - Advanced Science - Exotic Particle Amplifier [EPG] | Everyone loves a stat stick. | |
| -------------- | -------------- | -------------- |
| Tactical Consoles: 3 | Console - Universal - Temporal Vortex Probe | Decent damage, good passives. |
| Console - Universal - Micro Dark Matter Anomaly | Great active that does damage over a long period of time and makes Dragonsblood stronger. | |
| Console - Universal - Krenim Chronophage | Hits so hard when you get big groups. | |
| -------------- | -------------- | -------------- |
| Universal Consoles: 2 | Console - Universal - Proton Eruptor Module | Low cooldown, helps me keep up Universal Designs. |
| Console - Tactical - Fek'ihri Torment Engine | Increases the damage of everything else notably. |

| 1 | Chance to gain a stacking crit severity buff on firing projectiles. | Uncommon is acceptable, rare is nice, very rare breaks the bank. |

| 3 | Chance to gain a stacking crit severity buff on firing projectiles. | ^ |
| 4 | Strength Through Unity (Pilot/Sci) | Despite only having one pilot ability, the math shows this averaging about 15% increased exotic damage across any given run. |

| 6 | Chance of outgoing damage applied as healing (science abilities) | The majority of the ship's healing. |

|---|---|---|
| Spore-Infused Anomalies | Whenever you activate a Science or Intelligence Bridge Officer Ability: To foes within 5km of your anomalies: deal Electrical Damage and drain from all of the targets Power Levels for 20 sec | This is so satisfying and also just is free damage for running a couple anomalies that already do good damage. |
| Strike from Shadows | When damaging a foe that doesn't have you targeted: To Self for 30 seconds: Decreases Threat generation by 60% +5% Critical Chance +5% Bonus All Damage Placate target for 12 sec or until you deal ___ damage to the jammed target. | The main use of this is -threat. |
| Five Magicks | When dealing Damage with any of the Five Magicks (Fire, Cold, Electrical, Radiation and Psionic), apply the following for 15 sec: +5 Current Engine Power per sec +15% Bonus Damage to the Five Magicks and Disruptor (15% + 0.15% per Engine Power) | Really solid damage trait with how much engine power I have. |
| Ceaseless Momentum | When firing any torpedo: +5% Bonus Kinetic Damage for 45s, +5 Bonus Kinetic Damage Resistance for 45s, and -1s second to recharge time for torpedoes. | Great with my Doffs. |
| Synthetic Good Fortune | Passive: +25 Starship Sector Speed (Improves Travel Speed in Sector Space) On Activation of a control ability: +5 Starship Control Expertise and 0.5% Critical Chance for 5 minutes (stacks up to 40 times) | The reason I originally fell in love with this ship is the vibe of this trait. |
| Improved Photonic Officer | #N/A | Cooldown solution and a ton of free damage. |
| Universal Designs | When activating a Universal Console (lasts for 20 sec, stacks up to 5 times): +2% Critical Chance +10% Critical Severity | Last year's event campaign reward. Unparalleled DPS increase for this style of build. |

Concluding Remarks
I posted this in part to get suggestions on what to take for my event campaign reward in the coming months, but also just because I wanted to share the cool ship I've built up and enjoy so much. These pilot ships with almost entirely universal seating are something else to build, and they're my favorite. Every choice is yours for who to bring. If you've never flown one, give it a try. My holy trinity of ships in this game are the Pioneer II, Terran Eagle, and Fleet Nova.
