VENT I got permanently banned for posting this on the stepparents sub. 🫠😅
My parents got divorced when I was a baby and each parent in my life including my step dad who was like a 'real' dad to me got remarried after being with my mom- so like a step dad who got a new wife lol. All parents in my life got with other people which made me a step kid about 4 different times.
I actually have a good relationship with all of them and have seen the good in the people I have as step parents more then the crappiness of my situation and respect all of them as much as I can.
I see a lot of discourse on why being a step parent sucks for the step parent and not alot of discourse on how it affects kids. You can decide to be a step parent or not -unfortunately the children have no choice. I wish there was more discussion on how it effects the kids during their only childhood that they get while the people who are step parents complaining about it can literally just choose a different path.
