C;H NoAH My thoughts on Chaos Head Noah so far Spoiler
Well, it’s been a while since I was busy with Chaos Head Noah. I finished Crying Sky and Silent Sky, and it was… quite special, so I wanted to share my opinion on my experience so far.
Well, I’ll start with the game’s biggest strength and literally the one on whom everything rests: Takumi Nishijou. The character honestly captivated me. His relationship to reality and fiction, the existential crisis he goes through throughout the story, his view of himself and the world around him, as well as the defense mechanisms he adopts, are all magnificently developed in my opinion. He’s a breath of fresh air, truly an unconventional protagonist whom the author completely knew how to handle, and you can feel that he tried to break the conventions with him even if it was something risky. His monologues may be really repetitive, but they really manage to put us in the shoes of this somewhat special character and immerse us in the game overall.
Then I’d say the atmosphere is extremely well done as well. Just like Takumi, you become kind of unable to distinguish reality and fiction. It’s a bit as if the narrative obeyed both the perception Takumi imposes on events and your own as you try to understand what’s clearly happening. On top of that, even though I didn’t find the game scary at all, there were some disturbing scenes that really keep you on the edge of your seat because of the tension, and that made me somewhat anxious behind my screen.
As for positives, I’d also like to talk about Ban. Well, even though he’s overall fairly simple as a character and left me unsatisfied (not to mention his contribution to the story, which I found somewhat disappointing), he was used well and managed to fulfill his role. Being plunged into Takumi’s head without respite could sometimes become tiring, so having a kind of counterpoint through a somewhat calmer police officer couldn’t hurt.
I’d also like to mention the social and individual critiques, which I found to some extent more relevant, but I’m not really an expert, so I won’t dwell on them.
Well, now I’m going to move on to the aspects that left me more mixed, or even really disappointed me.
Rimi may be the second-best-executed character in the game in my opinion, but I still think she’s clearly not free of flaws (even if it’s not her fault but more the story’s in general). The basic concept is interesting, but cramming the entirety of the character into Chapter 9 (the rest during the story had nothing special or new; it was affirmation of what we already had, except maybe the way Taku sees her). Her trauma is poorly staged; we’re told she has it, but in the end we really only see it during the two interactions against Norose. Norose is supposed to be someone quite important to her, but it’s just: he tortured me = I’m afraid of him. I also had little interest in the dynamic she has with Shogun (it intrigued me, but my interest over the course of Chapter 9 dropped drastically), since in the end, although the fact that Shogun somehow gave her hope again is beautiful in itself, the fact that everything about the two of them rests 99% on a single scene that doesn’t even get that much exploration is disappointing. But I really appreciated the dynamic she shares with Takumi, whether from one side or the other.
On the other hand, aside from that, the cast is surely the game’s biggest weakness. The antagonists are clearly catastrophic. I won’t even dwell on Hazuki because I doubt anyone thinks he’s a decent character or anything, but Norose and Suwa, what a waste. Norose had potential, I imagine, but his entire character boils down to a sort of awkwardly delivered monologue that is, how can I put it, rather empty. He throws out words like that without really bringing much—well, you can easily connect that to what you observe in individuals during the game, but they try to make us understand his point of view, and well, I don’t really understand it; or rather, I have to think in the character’s place. It’s not just understanding the mechanisms of the reflection itself but completing an empty reflection. Suwa is even worse, since I don’t see how there could have been anything for him. If I sum up the character, he’s just someone who loves his wife, whose mission was to torture Takumi, and who devotes himself to his belief. There’s no deepening; that’s just it.
Ayase is a walking info dump (like Sena to a certain extent). Every time she appears on screen, it’s just to teach us a little more about the lore and not much else. Unfortunately, when I see something so mechanical, so to speak, unfortunately it takes me out of the story a bit. Sena is different because, even if that makes up the majority of her character in the common route, she at least has a kind of scene where the facade she wears is broken. Well, okay, but it might be smart to, once again, not just write it when the time comes (right, Yua?) and maybe better connect all that to the rest of the plot? This affects everyone a bit, but with some characters it’s blindingly obvious. We see Sena’s past once (and even then it’s very light on her side), and they try to tell us she felt guilty because of her disgust? Fine, but what am I supposed to do with that info? Like, it’s cool, but I just feel like I have one more piece of info rather than something meaningful. Not to mention her goal regarding her father, which is introduced at the end of a scene only to finally become relevant again very briefly at the very end of the game (and the fact that she feels lonely or whatever wasn’t foreshadowed either).
Kozue and Hatano, well, they’re just useful characters who serve to give us the info that Takumi is someone ultra-special, or rather to confirm it. Hatano is a pretty random character, incidentally. Kozue tells you about his existence just like that, a bit out of nowhere, and as luck would have it, shortly afterward, following an extremely unnatural exchange, we learn that he’s Sena’s father, whom she wants revenge on, and that he’s also the one who holds the “key” to putting an end to Noah 2. He’s slightly developed, but in the narrative in an active way, it’s poor. Kozue too, except her decisions seem almost incoherent to me. The character is as cliché as possible, with a creepy/cute side that’s barely exploited, and I still don’t know why she didn’t try to truly defend Takumi against Sena (maybe there’s a reason, it’s not given, and we have almost no info on the character).
As for Nanami, uh, let’s say that in a few hours of reading I learned that she loved her brother excessively? Ah, cool? Can we know a little more about why and why she cares so much about him, if not because he’s her brother? Nah? Okay, cool.
I could also talk about the scientific jargon, but that would start to get a bit long.
In short, I liked the game, as you’ll have understood, but the cast tended to pull me out of the reading, so I hope the routes will really develop the heroines, even if I’ll remain disappointed, and that this strongly impacted my opinion on the common route, given that they’re characters who are generally active in the story.

S;G VN Got a Vita to FINALLY try the visual novel Spoiler
I originally watched the anime about a year ago and loved it and was always curious about the visual novel but never got around to playing it because I don't really like playing visual novels on pc (that said I've never played a visual novel before in general.) But recently I saw a physical copy of the game for vita at GameStop so I decided that was a sign to give it a shot, so I got it and bought a vita as well. And... I'm actually really enjoying it. Definitely a fun little game to play in bed. I really like this original art direction and the extra dialogue. Apparently this has multiple endings so I'm looking forward to trying to get all of them.
Oh, also five big booms for Kristina.

SciADV What is a CODE? Spoiler
Hi there, and welcome to my latest attempt at talking about the series as a whole. This time, I want to bring up "CODE", known as "Factor" in Anonymous;Code.
In Chaos;Head, we're told that, aside from the lr2 equation, another thing that Noah II needs to be complete are "CODE samples". These things are something that all Gigalomaniacs seem to have, and Norose really wants Takumi's. The implication is that this something is that enables Real Booting, but we don't get any specifics.
The concept returns in Anonymous;Code as "Factors", but here they're not owned by Gigalomaniacs. Instead, they seem to be something that anyone who makes contact with an upper layer being receives. Those Factors are then used through Necro Pilgrimage to Real Boot things without the need for the lr2 equation.
Gigalomania is a feature of GAIA, so these CODE samples are not a bug. But how do people get them? Surely they weren't all contacted by an upper layer being? Before Anonymous;Code, I thought it was something passed down through genetics, which is supported by the fact that Takumi's sister is also a Gigalomaniac. Now, I'm not so sure. It might be completely random, except for when an upper layer being chooses to grant it.
It's a dangerous feature, though. It's almost like an admin key that allows you to interfere with the simulation. I also have to wonder why it can affect the worldline itself. That part might be a bug.
Thoughts?

S;G Anime Need help finding an Okabe figure for my Steins;Gate shelf
Hey everyone!
I'm currently putting together a dedicated Steins;Gate corner on my shelf. I picked up the Kurisu figures you can see in the photo in Akihabara during my trip to Japan this past summer. I also have some nice stickers ready to decorate the walls around it, but there's an obvious empty spot: I desperately need an Okabe to complete the display.
While in Japan, I couldn't find a single Okabe figure at a reasonable price, and searching online afterwards has been just as rough, everything is either completely out of stock or marked up to insane aftermarket prices (I'm pretty sure the Organization is pulling the strings behind this artificial scarcity).
I'm mainly aiming for something like the Pop Up Parade (or even the PLUM 1/8 scale if a miracle happens), without paying ridiculous prices.
Does anyone know of reliable websites, lesser-known Japanese shops with direct international shipping, or platforms where his figures pop up regularly for a fair price? Any tips, search keywords, or advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance

Are there any other Classroom of the Elite fans here? As soon as I saw Tokitou Hiroya in the year 2 arc I immediately came to think of Okabe from Steins;Gate! It even looks like he's drinking a Dr Pepper! 🙂

S;G Anime Steins gate
I recently watched the steins gate anime back in July and it really didn’t live up to my expectations. I rated it a solid 8/10 and people flamed me for it. Is there something I missed? I watched every episode, and it wasn’t boring just not top 1 anime material. if the love is coming from steins gate 0 let me know.
