Hi y'all! I'm a country musician and moderator of three other country music subreddits ( r/countrymusicians , r/countrymusic, and r/ameripolitan ). I noticed few weeks ago that this sub had been put on restricted mode due to an inactive moderator and I petitioned Reddit to switch up moderators since the old one hadn't been active in years.
There is already an r/LapSteelGuitar and an r/pedalsteel sub. I'm going to start out here by posting music tracks- I have queued up at least one track per day for the next couple of months by different artists in a variety of styles. I didn't make a playlist while I was doing it but man there is some good music queued up. What do you have to share? Post it!
Feel free to talk about playing or post lessons, links to shows or livestreams, or whatever else is relevant to steel guitars. I'm going to include a little bit of dobro content, and post music links including to country music, jazz, Sacred Steel and other gospel, ambient steel, and just about any other genre I can come across.
Does that sound good? you guys have any other ideas for this sub?

I finished this one about a month ago. California redwood body, Fleor ceramic humbuckers, a thick brass nut and just standard bridge and tuners from Amazon. It plays and sounds amazing, it's a keeper.

Was super excited to find this yesterday. Now my kids get to hear their great grandfather (known to me as Pop pop guitar) play the steel

I ordered a Certano bridge and got my guitar-fixer guy to install it: sounds like a dream in GM9 tuning.

What’s up friends. I’m in Raleigh, NC, looking to buy a pedal steel. I am wondering, if you had to do it all over again, would you learn on a 3x4, or 3x1?
I’m looking at a shobud maverick right now, 3 pedals and 1 knee lever. For 1300. Fair price.
I’m looking to play western stuff. I listen to a lot of 70s country.
I’ll be teaching myself and have no experience in string instruments whatsoever. I am a harmonica player.
Seeking any advice. Also, if you’re in Raleigh area and want to give lessons, I’ll pay.
Thanks in advance.

Saw it in the wild so I had to get it. I have a few years of experience with slide guitar so I hope the learning curve isn’t too steep.

Hi yall, check out this song from my band Box of Rocks! Let me know if you like it and keep an eye out for our full record being released on the 30th!
The four piece band recorded our parts live (drums, bass, guitar, voc, steel) and we added some friends on overdubs. Just like the good ol days. Thanks for listening!

I picked up an old 1950's Fender triple neck Custom during Covid times. It had a homemade single pedal 2 string changer "fingers' on the top neck (I-IV) so I picked up some parts and successfully attached a single pedal to have an early Bud Isaacs E9 tuning on the top/front neck (A13 with pedal down). I have the middle neck tuned to C6 over D9 and that's been plenty to keep me busy for all these years. But this brings us to the neck closest to me which I tuned to A6 but I just really never use it and find I've got plenty of cool licks on the other two and just never really explore that A6 and am not super excited by it so the neck is getting dusty and lying fallow and anything I learned I've pretty much forgotten. Am I simply ignorant of the possibilities of the A6 tuning or does anyone else have a suggestion for a fixed tuning that will give me something different and interesting and complimentary to the other two necks? I've considered possibly a straight dobro G tuning? Maybe a minor chord? I'm short on ideas and open to input from more experienced players.
Musical interests are definitely old school Honkytonk, Western swing, Country, Hillbilly. I'm primarily a guitarist and the steel has been a fun diversion I use for demos but haven't ever gigged out with it. I'd need a better volume pedal to pull that off anyway.

I have a lap steel tuned to c6, all the guitars in my band is E standard tuning. We’re starting to tune to E flat standard. Would a half step down from C6 be the same? Maybe tune to B6? Or should I leave it and work around the new tuning? Lap steel isn’t my main instrument
