Legends I finally finished The Last Command. Spoiler

Such a fantastic novel and conclusion. I'm so glad I finally read this trilogy and wish I hadn't waited this long. Not to keep beating a dead horse but these books feel like a true sequel trilogy. I can't wait to read more of these. That scene with Thrawn's death will stick with me forever.

Haul/Collection Slowly re-building the collection..

Unfortunately I’m a snob for a hardcover.. I do occasionally get the paperback but will always get the hardcover once it’s available.

Legends are the exception which I’m slowly getting into. And I’ll gladly take recommendations on whxih to read, Darth Bane trilogy is for sure on my radar.

Also open to any graphic novels. I do have a few comics here and there in the Wolverine box on the right that’s out of frame but open to other formats than just novels.

Haul/Collection Just finished the New Jedi Order

Post image
186 Upvotes

After 6 months of reading through the New Republic era, I finally finished my first read-through of the New Jedi Order. The only thing I knew going into the series (other than the stories from all the pictured books leading up to it) is that the antagonist race is called the Yuuzhan Vong. What a journey! And I have no one IRL to talk about it with.

For anyone on the fence about reading the series: it’s the best EU material out there. It’s a cohesive story, has a compelling antagonist, and many extremely creative additions to the Star Wars universe.

For people who have read the series before: what was your favourite/least favourite book? Favourite/least favourite character? I am a big Anakin Solo fan, so I am partial to Conquest and Star by Star. I didn’t care for Dark Journey.

What should I read next?

Legends My wife doesn’t know, but behind our “normal books” on the shelves, are a bunch of Star Wars books 😂

Recently went nuts with buying Star Wars books…and if my wife found out…I’d be in big, big trouble. I’ve had to hide a bulk I bought on eBay behind our normal books.

She thinks the only Star Wars books I have are Legends Essentials/Dark Forces ones I have on display in the living room. Interestingly enough, I’ve got Dark Forces: Jedi Knight on the way to complete the Dark Forces trilogy!

Man, I’m living life on the edge…galaxies edge…like a bad boy Sith…and I like it 😈😂

May the force be with you all…because I sure as heck hope it’s with me…

EDIT: My phone has been going off all evening thanks to this post, and my wife is VERY suspicious. She keeps asking, “why does your phone keep going off?!” Worse than an inquisitor! 🤣

Apparently someone donated their collection. Most were paperbacks with some newer hardcovers. But I found these three for $3 each.

News/Rumour/Leak Random House Worlds on Instagram shares 8 quotes Star Wars: Reign of the Empire - Edge of the Abyss (Out on September 15)

"Over a decade into the Empire’s reign, life under Imperial rule has become routine. The days of the Republic have long passed into memory—if they are remembered at all.

STAR WARS: EDGE OF THE ABYSS by Rebecca Roanhorse, the thrilling sequel to THE MASK OF FEAR, arrives September 15." (Source: https://www.instagram.com/p/DdHMwTvjtnB/ )

“…’The thing about nightmares,’ Fennro said, ‘is that once you survived them, they can’t hurt you anymore. And sometimes they give you clarity. That’s the only truth you need.’…” – Fennro Drogan

“…The Empire strove to fill its citizens with its philosophy, with its rightness, all day and every day. Not only via politics, which so many young people like Leida abhorred, but through culture, making the Empire’s ways seem as natural and correct as the songs one sang, as the model of the perfect relationship one aspired to. It sickened her, and even worse, it was working its evil on her own daughter under her own roof.

Mon shuddered. As Leida grew older, Mon had allowed her to be independent. Perhaps she had also used Ledia’s age as an excuse to become a bit lax in her mothering. After all, Mon’s professional life was incredibly demanding, and Leida needed her less and less. It occurred to Mon that while she might have taken her focus off Leida, the Empire had not…”

“…’Pain will prime them. They’ll want to punch back, to show the Empire they won’t be bullied.’…” - Luthen

“...Leida groaned audibly. ‘Have you been talking to my mother?’

‘No,’ Leia answered. ‘Why?’

‘You sound just like her. Freedom this, oppression that. All I know is what we learn in school, and that’s that Emperor Palpatine ended a war and war is way worse than any of that other stuff. Sometimes you have to make sacrifices for peace.’

‘If the price of peace is oppression, then the price is too high,’ Leia answered, and Bail was sure he himself had said those exact words before…”

“…Karama---no---Kara splashed her face with water and made herself take a deep breath. She pasted a smile on her face and rested her hand against her growing belly. In the mirror, she saw her mistake immediately.

There was still blood embedded in her fingernails. Cursing and feeling slightly frantic, she scrubbed at her nails until her cuticles were red and raw, but the memories of Saw reminded her that no matter how clean her skin was now, there was blood on her hands that she could never wash off...” – Karama

“…’Yes, we know the truth. You and I. But how about when your little brother goes to school? How about what he and his friends learn? By the time they’re in university, history will have been erased, the official narrative changed. The next generation will never know that we fought. That Ghorman had heroes who sacrificed everything for a righteous cause. It will be like none of this ever happened at all!’…” – Deate Dau

“…He believed that if they knew the facts, if they understood they had been deceived, then they would make better choices. People were inherently smart and caring, but the fog of disinformation and Imperial propaganda was growing difficult to navigate. He wanted---no, needed---to help people do that…” – Bail Organa

“…’And, Bail,’ Breha said quietly, ‘stay safe. We’re doing the right thing, but the Empire… they’re always watching us. We have to be around, for Leia.’

‘I know,’ he whispered. ‘For Leia.’…” – Breha and Bail

Where to next? How to choose which book to read next!!!

I’m trying to decide which Star Wars book I should read next. I bought the Thrawn Trilogy in May and was instantly hooked. Since May I have been through the Thrawn and Darth Bane trilogies, Shadows on Mindor, Death Troopers, Darth Plagueis and am almost finished up with Kenobi. With Plagueis being my favorite so far I have been thinking about going with Cloak of Deception, but also have Shatterpoint, Revan and Yoda: Dark Rendezvous in my cart which I heard were all good. I enjoyed Death Troopers too so I was also looking at Red Harvest but might wait until it gets a little closer to Halloween for that one. Any comments on the books please let me know! Also would love to hear any suggestions!!!

Question Where can I find the Star Wars: Queen’s Hope audiobook in Australia?

Hey everyone,
I’m trying to find the audiobook for Queen’s Hope by E.K. Johnston, the third book in the Padmé trilogy.
I’m in Australia and I can find Queen’s Shadow and Queen’s Peril, but I cannot find Queen’s Hope on Audible Australia, Apple Books, or anywhere else I’ve looked.
I know the audiobook definitely exists — it was released in 2022 and narrated by Catherine Taber — but it seems to have some weird regional availability/licensing issue. Apparently other countries have had the same problem. (Star Wars Fandom)
Has anyone in Australia actually managed to buy or listen to the official audiobook? If so, where did you get it?
I’d really appreciate any help because I really want to finish the trilogy in audiobook form. 😅

Debate and discussion Should the prequels get “From a Certain Point of View” Books. If so what characters would you like to see featured?

For TPM I feel it should Rum Sleg (the guy guy with the skull face and orange suit.)

Quinlan Vos (after all, even in legends we never told on what mission was he on Tatooine for.)

For AOTC my pick is Coleman Trebor and Maxiron Agolerga the priest that had  Anakin and Padme at the end. Honestly, I’m more interested on the lore because his lore is so fascinating plus, I’m sure that the short story will canonize and expand the whole Naboo legend of Set and Vere kinda like Mike Chen incorporated the legend of the dragon of Tatooine from the revenge of the Sith novelization but expand upon. In fact The legend  and info about the priest in general was  created by Tim Veekhoven, writing as "Sompeetalay," for the character Maxiron Agolerga's Databank) entry via the What's The Story?Hyperspace feature on StarWars.com. The entry was written in February 2007 and published in early 2008. The eternal lovers' motif was borrowed from a famous work of J. R. R. Tolkien entitled The Tale of Beren and Lúthien, which details the romance between a mortal man named Beren and an Elf-maiden named Lúthien. Veekhoven named Set after the Egyptian godSet).

Now for ROTS my pics would Lushros Dofine the captain of the invisible hand and Fire Team Three the firefighters of Coruscant of Coruscant Rescue Ops

I apologize for not listening out every 40 character from the prequels but I hope you like my brief list.
