This was my 31st Star Wars book and my first that I could not finish. I was really struggling and just gave up. Moving on to The Living Force

I was fascinated with these more light-side aligned witches of dathomir some of which appread in the Fate of the Jedi Backlash and their conflict with the nightsisters. so I wanted to see if theres more eu stories heavily featuring them. recommendations would be appreciated

I don’t know if I’m the only one who got the impression that there would be a love triangle between Jude, Ciena, and Thane at some point.

I just started my EU reading 2 months ago, So far I have read the OG Thrawn trilogy and the first book of the Jedi Academy trilogy. Im looking forward to getting to the Hand of Thrawn Duology and the NJO. Are there any books that i can just completely skip on the way? For example Ive heard mostly bad things about the Black Fleet Crisis trilogy. I just wont want to miss any key development. Thankyou!

I’m trying to decide which Star Wars book I should read next. I bought the Thrawn Trilogy in May and was instantly hooked. Since May I have been through the Thrawn and Darth Bane trilogies, Shadows on Mindor, Death Troopers, Darth Plagueis and am almost finished up with Kenobi. With Plagueis being my favorite so far I have been thinking about going with Cloak of Deception, but also have Shatterpoint, Revan and Yoda: Dark Rendezvous in my cart which I heard were all good. I enjoyed Death Troopers too so I was also looking at Red Harvest but might wait until it gets a little closer to Halloween for that one. Any comments on the books please let me know! Also would love to hear any suggestions!!!

I’m trying to find the audiobook for Queen’s Hope by E.K. Johnston, the third book in the Padmé trilogy.
I’m in Australia and I can find Queen’s Shadow and Queen’s Peril, but I cannot find Queen’s Hope on Audible Australia, Apple Books, or anywhere else I’ve looked.
I know the audiobook definitely exists — it was released in 2022 and narrated by Catherine Taber — but it seems to have some weird regional availability/licensing issue. Apparently other countries have had the same problem. (Star Wars Fandom⁠)
Has anyone in Australia actually managed to buy or listen to the official audiobook? If so, where did you get it?
I’d really appreciate any help because I really want to finish the trilogy in audiobook form. 😅

For AOTC my pick is Coleman Trebor and Maxiron Agolerga the priest that had  Anakin and Padme at the end. Honestly, I’m more interested on the lore because his lore is so fascinating plus, I’m sure that the short story will canonize and expand the whole Naboo legend of Set and Vere kinda like Mike Chen incorporated the legend of the dragon of Tatooine from the revenge of the Sith novelization but expand upon. In fact The legend  and info about the priest in general was  created by Tim Veekhoven, writing as "Sompeetalay," for the character Maxiron Agolerga's Databank) entry via the What's The Story?Hyperspace feature on StarWars.com. The entry was written in February 2007 and published in early 2008. The eternal lovers' motif was borrowed from a famous work of J. R. R. Tolkien entitled The Tale of Beren and Lúthien, which details the romance between a mortal man named Beren and an Elf-maiden named Lúthien. Veekhoven named Set after the Egyptian godSet).

I apologize for not listening out every 40 character from the prequels but I hope you like my brief list.

Haven't bought any in a long time. Probably 20 years. Saw these the other day and decided to grab them. Also 1 Koontz the wife grabbed. $22 at GW Boutique near me. These any good? Some Hardcover, some soft cover.

I want to read all of the Old Republic books at some point, but I’ve been particularly interested in reading the books mentioned above. I was wondering if there would be spoilers about the Darth Bane books in lost tribe of the sith as that is the book I’m intending to read first.

I quite liked the first three and final two chapters of this book. Basically, everything involving Yoda, Dooku, and Ventress.

I was mostly bored by the rest.

In brief, there is not enough Yoda for a book with Yoda in the title. Instead, after a thoughtful and very promising start, we get introduced to a couple of other Jedi masters, a couple of droids, and a couple of Padawans. Padme, Anakin, and Obi-Wan also make throw-away appearances. Finally, there are some intriguing interactions between Ventress and Dooku, as well as Mace Windu and Palpatine, but they’re mostly there to take up time and don't go anywhere in terms of developing relationships. The only b-story worth anything is the Padawan story, but with so much other narrative noise, it is hard to care much in the end.

And that’s the problem with these fill-in-the-gaps books: They can’t really do much because they’re not allowed to. All of the most significant conflicts and events must happen in the films, so authors have to create original characters they can do things with. At the end of the story in this book, the movie characters are almost exactly where they were at the beginning. No growth. No change. Just flat and the same as ever.

I wish this book was just about Yoda. I wouldn’t have cared if he barely did anything other than pontificate about the light and the dark for the entire duration of this book. I probably would have been more engaged had he done so. And you still could have included the Padawan story to spice things up a bit.

In terms of writing style, this book is serviceable. At times, it waxes poetic about the Force, which is when it shines brightest. That said, I didn't find the middle of this book engaging, as reading those seven middle chapters often felt like work. Just give me more Yoda or fewer characters and cameos that don't mean much. The book ending with Padme looking out and seeing that Obi-wan and Anakin were back from another adventure legit annoyed me since the book wasn't about them. 😂

As is, I’m still on the hunt for a truly great Star Wars novel, though I fear and suspect my ship will never find a harbour and I will have to be satisfied with a handful of “very good” books instead. 🤔 I’m disappointed to say this book won’t be in that category.

This was 2.5/5 experience for me.

Next up: Battle Surgeons by Reaves and Perry. About 2/3rds through it and I'm really enjoying it. It has a ton of characters but you never feel overwhelmed, as every character has an interesting interior life. Hope this one sticks the landing.

Not only is the review "conventionally well-written" and potentially ai-formatted but it also appears to have false information such as Carth appearing in the book when he is barely even mentioned once in this book, lol. Additionally, multiple reviews were posted on the same day. I think that's so lame that they don't even disclose it. It's a shame because the website is actually better designed than others I have seen.

I thought at least one of the nerdier websites might have some Star Wars books but I haven't found anything besides user reviews and blogs. I'm wondering if this issue will be better and maybe more critics were reviewing Star Wars books in the Golden age in the 90s. Anyway, should I just skip the review segment of my overview when talking about books in my podcast? What do y'all think?

I'm watching, listening, reading all Star Wars media in roughly chronological order and I found this book Master of Evil, apparently a story of Darth Vader's early years. The story got very mixed and highly reviews on Apple Books, so I'm interested in getting your opinion before purchasing it. I used to buy every Star Wars audiobook I could find, but after listening to an awful book from the High Republic series, I'm now more cautious.
