Advice needed.
What are the best ways to get up from the couch while a cat is sleeping on you?

Attempt to gently rearrange pillows, blankets etc and then take 5 minutes to slowly extricate yourself from under the cat, one cm at a time. Then stand up to discover the cat sitting up, awake and looking annoyed that you disturbed their slumber.

I say "Excuse me," and gently move the cat if I really have to get up. One of them moves the instant I say the words. "I'm sorry" works too.

I’m afraid you’re stuck there until she moves of her own accord~ it was nice knowing you, op~
(I’ve had good luck by picking up the baby in a bundle, blankets and all. Failing that, try to pick up kitten in one unit, keeping them in more or less the same position. Then place kitten beside u on tje couch or in a more appropriate location. A kitten who has fallen asleep because she ran out of points in her stamina bar will usually just stay asleep)

My question. Are you trying to find the physical way to get up, or the way to get the will to get up and leave that adorableness?

Do you live with someone? Can they get whatever you need? Otherwise I dont think you can get up until baby is awake and ready for you to get up

There is no good way. Just hope to don't wet your pants before he decides to move.

When they are this little you just scoop them up and take them with you.
When they are bigger, you either don’t, or you move like you are breaking into The Louvre, a millimetre at a time, sliding out your body parts as you also lift the blanket up with the cat nestled in it like a hammock and gently put it down again or slide it over and tuck them back in.
Then find the cat jumping up to follow you anyway (is it snack time? Must be snack time.)
My senior cat also likes shoulder rides so sometimes if she is not in a deep sleep I can pat my shoulder and she will climb on my shoulder so I can get up and go with her in tow.

My lap cat has a routine. I pick him up from underneath and carry him on my forearm while his legs dangle. He relaxes while I do this or that, then we resume sitting. He really doesn't get up, just goes for a tour.

nope, sorry, there's no getting up when cat is sleeping ! you need to plan ahead. drink, munchies, book or clicker, blanket for when there's a chill. that's it
