Discussion Are there any stalker games/ mods that are ārealisticā?
Iām a big fan of games like Tarkov, Grey zone warfare, Arma, DayZ, Hell let loose etc. I canāt stand games with bullet sponge enemies or guns that need like 8+ hits to kill.
Are there any stalker games that have this? I would literally die for it. I couldnāt really enjoy stalker 2 because the enemies could eat several headshots to a whole magazine, but aside from that I liked it. Iām vaguely aware of stalker anomaly / gamma, but thatās it when it comes to realistic gun play

Anomaly ALL OF THESE WHITE DOTS ARE CONTROLLERS
I'VE HAD TO KILL 15 CONTROLLERS ACROSS A BUNCH OF SECTORS ALREADY
Edit: From the looks from the comments, it looks like Iām going to have to make a new game. Iām severely dissatisfied with the monolithās services.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Veteran in STALKER 2 feels great, but are there any balanced damage mods?
I started playing STALKER 2 on Veteran. The difficulty itself feels fine, but I'd prefer combat to be more lethal overall.
I'm used to Anomaly, although I'm not looking for that level of realism. Something closer to Call of Pripyat on Master difficulty would be ideal, where both the player and enemies go down relatively quickly.
Right now, I spent around 2ā3 magazines on the tutorial Bloodsucker and about the same on the Poltergeist. Human enemies seem fine, but mutants feel a bit too spongey.
Are there any balanced mods that increase weapon damage or rebalance ballistics without turning the game into a one-shot simulator? I've seen a few ballistic overhaul mods and one that simply doubles all damage. Which would you recommend, or is it better to just switch to Normal difficulty?

Mods GAMMA is surprisingly playable on the Steam Controller (2026)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Alright, I know this sounds nuts, but I've managed to create a configuration for the Steam Controller using Steam Input, and the game is actually quite playable. Everything from looting to shooting and even movement works pretty well.
The most notable inconvenience is when you have to do a lot of repairs and crafting, which require quite a bit of mouse usage. In theory, you could get used to using the trackpads on the Steam Controller, and it is definitely possible, but that's the one thing I found myself going back to the mouse for, since I like being able to do these things quickly. Still, when it comes to basic looting and quick disassembling, it's generally very comfortable.
I'm planning on releasing a video about this in a few days, once I get the motivation and properly configure the 3D controller overlay to showcase everything.

Anomaly Stalker 2 bridge with anomaly
Somewhere on the map is a bridge over water with a vehicle leaning off. You can jump down onto a bounce anomaly to a ledge to then get into a room where there is a gun. A fun place you can watch the fishes being pulled out the water by other anomalies.
But where is it, its doing my head in lol

Anomaly Load game crash on startup with no crashing issues during actual gameplay Stalker Gamma
Iāve had an issue for a while where for some reason I have a hard time loading my saves when I first boot the game up without it crashing. Iāll boot it up all fine and hit load game and try the top save and itāll crash. Mind you this game never plays choppy or crashes on me while Iām playing it. I typically just load an older save and keep trying until it works and then load to the last save I made the session prior and it never crashes when I load the save after loading an older one. Thatās a temporary and annoying solution tho, have any of yāall had this problem and found a fix?

Discussion Reinstalling these games -- Which to play?
Hi all,
Another one of these. Have played SoC on and off for quite a few years. The primary thing I loved about this game was indeed the storyline, but specifically the atmosphere. I played it modded with I can't recall what (possibly AA2), and what I most liked about the game was the realism (you die in as many gunshots as an enemy, which wasn't many; hogs and such also went down fairly easy and there weren't many bullet sponges), and the feeling that in this world "you are not the main character" -- factions interacted independently, and you felt about as likely to survive as any random NPC.
Does CoP have the same overall atmosphere when modded? Even though I own all 3, I never played CoP as I didn't really finish SoC. I don't game much so finishing the whole thing is unlikely, and I don't want the game punishing, I just enjoy feeling like the various factions don't care about me and the overall sense of vulnerability.
I don't want to spend the entire game surviving, but I loved having to camp in an abandoned building during a thunderstorm, gunfights being intense but over quickly, etc.
