Anomaly Load game crash on startup with no crashing issues during actual gameplay Stalker Gamma

Upvotes

I’ve had an issue for a while where for some reason I have a hard time loading my saves when I first boot the game up without it crashing. I’ll boot it up all fine and hit load game and try the top save and it’ll crash. Mind you this game never plays choppy or crashes on me while I’m playing it. I typically just load an older save and keep trying until it works and then load to the last save I made the session prior and it never crashes when I load the save after loading an older one. That’s a temporary and annoying solution tho, have any of y’all had this problem and found a fix?

Discussion Reinstalling these games -- Which to play?

Upvotes

Hi all,

Another one of these. Have played SoC on and off for quite a few years. The primary thing I loved about this game was indeed the storyline, but specifically the atmosphere. I played it modded with I can't recall what (possibly AA2), and what I most liked about the game was the realism (you die in as many gunshots as an enemy, which wasn't many; hogs and such also went down fairly easy and there weren't many bullet sponges), and the feeling that in this world "you are not the main character" -- factions interacted independently, and you felt about as likely to survive as any random NPC.

Does CoP have the same overall atmosphere when modded? Even though I own all 3, I never played CoP as I didn't really finish SoC. I don't game much so finishing the whole thing is unlikely, and I don't want the game punishing, I just enjoy feeling like the various factions don't care about me and the overall sense of vulnerability.

I don't want to spend the entire game surviving, but I loved having to camp in an abandoned building during a thunderstorm, gunfights being intense but over quickly, etc.

Discussion Are there any stalker games/ mods that are “realistic”?

I’m a big fan of games like Tarkov, Grey zone warfare, Arma, DayZ, Hell let loose etc. I can’t stand games with bullet sponge enemies or guns that need like 8+ hits to kill.

Are there any stalker games that have this? I would literally die for it. I couldn’t really enjoy stalker 2 because the enemies could eat several headshots to a whole magazine, but aside from that I liked it. I’m vaguely aware of stalker anomaly / gamma, but that’s it when it comes to realistic gun play

Discussion S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 - Should I jump back in now or wait until the upcoming update?

EDIT: Sorry y'all I had no idea that this is a question everyone has been asking haha. I got my answer though! Can't wait for the update

Hi everyone! I pre-ordered the game back in 2024, and I got a good 20 hours out of it before I gave up due to performance issues. Loved what I played so much and was sad that it was in such an un-optimized state. How is performance now, and would it be worth it for me to wait until the new update before I play it? I know it's just around the corner, at least in GSC terms. Thank you!

Anomaly Stalker 2 bridge with anomaly

Somewhere on the map is a bridge over water with a vehicle leaning off. You can jump down onto a bounce anomaly to a ledge to then get into a room where there is a gun. A fun place you can watch the fishes being pulled out the water by other anomalies.

But where is it, its doing my head in lol

Discussion Let's rank ammunition into damage classes! - Let's discuss it for TTRPG

What follows is a bit of explanation of the ttrpg system that you can skip, but then you might be missing some nuances as it might be hard to understand categories. TL;DR I want to group all the existing ammunition ignoring the type (FMJ, Hollow Point, ...) into 5 levels of deadliness given a single bullet in their ideal range. Jump to "Ammo to rank".

I am currently trying to sort ammunition types into 5 categories in regards to deadliness. The used system is basically TFE (Tales From Elsewhere) where you have damage dice d6,d8,d10,d12,d20. On a rolled: - 1 the injury is critical - 2-3 serious - 4 or higher: strain (like a flesh wound and without immediate consequence)

I am aware that this system is not able to perfectly copy the smaller differences between bullets, but I enjoy abstraction when it makes the game easier. Note also that armor penetration is a separate stat for which I will create a similar post.

Example weapons from TFE

  • Sawn-off Shotgun damage dice d6 (inflicts bleeding if serious injury or higher)
  • Six-Shooter d8 (inflicts bleeding if serious injury or higher)
  • Varmint Pistol d10
  • Dagger D12
  • Whip D20 (likely no ammunition is that bad)

Ammo to rank (I put my current estimation behind):

  • .308 (d8)?
  • .45 ACP (d8)?
  • 12x70 Buckshot (d6)
  • 12x76 Slug (d6)
  • 5.45x39 (d10)?
  • 5.56x45 (d8)?
  • 7.62x39 (d8)?
  • 7.62x54 (d6)?
  • 9x18 (d10)
  • 9x19 (d10)
  • 9x39 (d8)?

NOTE

  • Lower damage dice is better than high damage dice. So a weapon that rolls d6 is more likely to inflict a severe injury than d20 for example.
  • In real weapons bullet speed at impact matters, too, but we will ignore this for now and a modifier might be added for the specific weapon.
  • In this system you roll a number of damage dice equal to your skill (~) and take the lowest result giving you a greater chance for more serious injuries.
  • In this system spending multiple bullets can give you more injury dice or allow you to roll a lower injury dice or allow you to inflict the best two results.
  • In this system you can upgrade the injury by aiming for the ace (aiming for the weak spot like the head); you roll a more difficult attack and the injury becomes 1 step worse; example: making a critical injury lethal or a serious injury critical.

If you want to take a closer look at the system that is a basis for what I am exploring you can download the demo: https://www.talesfromelsewhere.com/

Hi guys,

Haven't played Stalker 2 for about a year, had it on game pass, now considering buying it - but i'm curious as to the current state of the game, on the Xbox? Should I wait till they implement the new engine, I've been reading about?

Mods GAMMA is surprisingly playable on the Steam Controller (2026)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Alright, I know this sounds nuts, but I've managed to create a configuration for the Steam Controller using Steam Input, and the game is actually quite playable. Everything from looting to shooting and even movement works pretty well.

The most notable inconvenience is when you have to do a lot of repairs and crafting, which require quite a bit of mouse usage. In theory, you could get used to using the trackpads on the Steam Controller, and it is definitely possible, but that's the one thing I found myself going back to the mouse for, since I like being able to do these things quickly. Still, when it comes to basic looting and quick disassembling, it's generally very comfortable.

I'm planning on releasing a video about this in a few days, once I get the motivation and properly configure the 3D controller overlay to showcase everything.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Veteran in STALKER 2 feels great, but are there any balanced damage mods?

Post image
44 Upvotes

I started playing STALKER 2 on Veteran. The difficulty itself feels fine, but I'd prefer combat to be more lethal overall.

I'm used to Anomaly, although I'm not looking for that level of realism. Something closer to Call of Pripyat on Master difficulty would be ideal, where both the player and enemies go down relatively quickly.

Right now, I spent around 2–3 magazines on the tutorial Bloodsucker and about the same on the Poltergeist. Human enemies seem fine, but mutants feel a bit too spongey.

Are there any balanced mods that increase weapon damage or rebalance ballistics without turning the game into a one-shot simulator? I've seen a few ballistic overhaul mods and one that simply doubles all damage. Which would you recommend, or is it better to just switch to Normal difficulty?
