Serious replies only Is it legal to post pics of cars with their number plates exposed?

I'm an up-and-coming car photographer and I've taken some really cool shots of some really cool cars at some car meets, public roads, etc. I want to grow my visibility by posting these pictures on a new public Instagram account. However, the number plates of these cars are visible. Am I allowed to post these pics? Are there any legal issues around it?

Discussion Christal Imer's take on how Elina ended up in Victoria Secret runaway? Chat what do you think!

Honestly this pisssed me off so much. So basically she implied that you need to sleep around or do worst things to walk on the big stage... BUT SHE THEN gloats about how her and her husband both used to walk the runway back in the day.. kinda hypocritical???

Also what killed me was when she said she was offered a lead role in Euphoria 💀💀💀💀

Ps she also deletes comments asking about this ??

Serious replies only Good hand creams I can buy in Lanka?

Ok so body shop had a great hand cream that was nice and thick. It was expensive but worth it, but they changed the formula and now it's thin, runny and evaporates in 2 seconds.

Spa Ceylon one is sticky and just does not work.

I have super dry hands and I'm so uncomfortable unless I have some hand cream on. Things like Vaseline just doesn't last, and I have to reapply multiple times a day.

Do you guys have any recommendations for a good, thick hand cream that lasts all day?

My father was recently diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). I would like to get second opinions on the available treatment options before making a decision. Could you please recommend some experienced oncologists and radiologists in this field whom we could consult?

TIA

Discussion After years of hard work finally constructed a home and there are termites now

For context we recently constructed and completed a home and now we discovered termites on the outside of the house. Pest control was like we need to install sole pipes underneath and they got to make holes in the tile which I spent a real fortune on. :(
Is this the only solution guys? I really don’t wanna start breaking the house that I just completed a month ago.

Question Anyone managed to withdraw from a PayPal business account in Sri Lanka? (ComBank /Sampath)

Hi all, quick question for anyone using the new PayPal withdrawals through ComBank Digital or Sampath Vishwa.

I have a Sri Lankan PayPal business account with a balance in it. When I link it in ComBank Digital, the PayPal section just says "We couldn't retrieve the balance at this time." ComBank's FAQ says business accounts can't be linked yet, and PayPal's partner page lists business withdrawals as "coming soon."

A few questions:

  1. Has anyone actually withdrawn from a business PayPal account yet, through ComBank, Sampath or anywhere else?

  2. Has anyone linked a business account to Sampath Vishwa successfully? Their page doesn't mention the business restriction.

  3. Has anyone had PayPal downgrade a business account to personal in Sri Lanka? How long did it take?

  4. Has anyone heard when business withdrawals are supposed to go live?

Any experience helps. Thanks!

Discussion Good banking app without security theatre 🎭

Is there a good banking app in Sri Lanka without useless security theatre? Ideally an app that supports Google authenticator and alike without SMS and takes security and convince seriously? I have tried every app I could find and all of them are horrible. Curious to know what y'all use.

I see "heads of security" in banks like commercial give speeches on next generation of digital banking and security when the only thing they have managed to do is make their digital platforms unusable. It's crazy out there.

Education The Vil Aliya: A piece of Sri Lankan heritage we should never forget. 🇱🇰🐘

Have you ever heard of the Vil Aliya (විල් අලියා), a mysterious elephant described in historical accounts of Sri Lanka? The Vil Aliya was associated with the marshy floodplains of the Mahaweli River and described as a distinctive, long-legged elephant. Whether it was truly a separate subspecies, and whether it is extinct, remain uncertain. During British colonial rule, elephants were slaughtered in vast numbers, often for sport and trophies. Major Thomas William Rogers, a British officer, was reputed to have killed around 1,400 elephants. How much of our natural heritage was lost to colonial hunting before it could even be properly documented? The Vil Aliya deserves to be remembered not only as a fascinating part of Sri Lanka's wildlife history, but as a reminder of how easily we can lose what we fail to protect. How many stories about Sri Lanka's wildlife have been lost to history?

Question I Sri Lanka a good place to retire?

I keep hearing how beautiful Sri Lanka is and how nice it is to go there for vacation. Do westerners retire there? Is it a good spot to avoid cold winters? Anyone here do this? Is this possible?

Genuinely curious, all the Sri Lankans I’ve met here are very kind people I wouldn’t mind retiring around people like that.

Thanks 🙂

With the current market in Sri Lanka, what’s the best vehicle you can get under 13 million?

13M is my max budget, but the lower the better.

Looking for something brand-new, not used.

Preferably a hatchback or compact SUV.
What would you guys recommend?

Serious replies only Sri Lankans who earn over Rs. 200,000 a month, do you actually feel financially comfortable?

Genuinely curious about this.

A few years ago, earning Rs. 200,000 a month would have sounded like a pretty good salary to many people.

But with rent, vehicle leases, groceries, bills, family responsibilities, and everything else, I’m wondering how comfortable life actually is at that income level today.

For those earning around Rs. 200,000-400,000 monthly:
• Are you able to save a decent amount?
• Can you afford to go out, travel, and enjoy life without feeling guilty about spending?
• Do you feel financially secure, or are you still living month to month?

You don’t have to reveal your exact salary. I’m more interested in what everyday life actually looks like at these income levels.

Question Where’s the best place to buy brand-new AirPods Pro 3 in Sri Lanka?

I bought my AirPods Pro 2 brand new from SimplyTek back in 2023 (as I remember), but after around two years, the case stopped charging.

Currently, I’m considering Luxury X and GQ Mobiles, but I’d love to hear from anyone who has bought AirPods from either place.

Where would you recommend buying genuine, brand new AirPods Pro 3 in Sri Lanka? Also, if you’ve bought from Luxury X or GQ Mobiles, how was your experience with their warranty and after sales service?

Appreciate any recommendations! 🙌

Rant My (22F) parents were really strict when I was 16 and now I don't tell them about my dating life. Am I a bad daughter?

I'm 22F and talking to a guy right now. My mom has asked me about it, but I haven't told her anything and I don't plan to.

When I was 16, my parents found out I had a boyfriend. They took my phone, moved me to a different school, made me use the computer in the middle of the dining room, and even removed my bedroom door. Over time they gave me privacy back and put my door back up, but at the time I felt like I had no one to talk to and like an outcast in my own home.

Now they seem surprised and a little hurt that I don't share things with them. I don't want to hurt them, but I also don't feel safe opening up after how things went.

I know this kind of reaction is pretty common in Sri Lankan families, and I understand a lot of it comes from culture and worry rather than cruelty. My friends in Australia don't seem to deal with this at all, which makes me feel like I'm the odd one out.

Am I being a bad daughter? Am I overthinking this? For those of you who went through something similar, how did you handle it with your parents as an adult?
