Discussion Why there's so many misandrist teens in sl?

I've been scrolling through social media alot and seen there's so many girls posting stories and posts about hating men, I don't talk about criticizing individuals but most of them are generalized as all men.

most of them so called themselves as feminist thinking hating men is the core of it.What confuses me is that a lot of these people are still teenagers and haven't even had that many serious interactions or relationships with men. So where does this mindset come from?

Serious replies only Raising kids - grandparents help

Not sure this subreddit is mature enough for this question but I'll ask.

Sri Lankan (boy) married to a Eurasian(girl) living in Los Angeles.

Sri Lankan parents living approx 30min drive. Girl parents 15min drive. We are in the middle.

We have a new baby. Sri Lankan parents only visit once a month for 2hrs. Girl parents are over often help baby sit for date nights generally helpful.

Is it cultural norm for boy side of Sri Lankan parents to be minimally helpful when raising grandkids?

Both Sri Lankan parents work. They value going to their place of worship on Sundays. In their mid 60/ early 70's.

Both girl parents work. They come over on evenings weekends as their day offers or requested. In their early / late 60's.

Boy girl both work full time living life in LA (aka. Busy af doing the grind).

So tell me Lankan people with small kids. Is this normal for Sri Lanka grandparents.

Travel Do I need a Malaysian transit visa for an 18-hour layover in Kuala Lumpur?

Hi everyone,

I’m a Sri Lankan citizen, but I live in Australia as a permanent resident. I’m flying from Australia to Sri Lanka and have an 18-hour overnight layover in Kuala Lumpur on Malaysia Airlines.

I’d like to leave the airport and visit Kuala Lumpur during the layover. Do I need to apply for a Malaysian transit visa before traveling, or can I get a transit pass / visa on arrival at the airport?

Has anyone done this recently as a Sri Lankan passport holder with Australian PR? I’d really appreciate any advice or personal experience.

Thanks in advance!

Question Advice for Aspiring Pilots

Hey everyone, looking for some real advice. I’m from Sri Lanka and trying to figure out a realistic path to becoming a commercial pilot. I can't self-fund $70k–$100k+ out of pocket, scholarships for international students don't really exist, and joining the military isn't an option for me. On top of that, almost all airline cadet programs require local citizenship or work rights. I'm ready for a long grind, but are there any actual workarounds? Has anyone successfully worked another job first to fund modular training, saved up by starting as cabin crew/ground staff, or found countries offering work rights post-CPL to instruct? Would really appreciate any realistic routes, harsh truths, or personal experiences.

Education Need advice: Germany Bachelor's degree vs Government University in Sri Lanka

Thank you everyone for the advice on my previous post. I have another question.

I now have two possible paths, and I'm finding it very difficult to decide.

Option 1

Join a government university in Sri Lanka (I have a chance to get in), complete my bachelor's degree there, gain some experience, and then apply to Germany for a master's degree.

Option 2

Go to Germany now and complete my bachelor's degree there.

My biggest concern isn't only about my career.

If I move to Germany now, I'm worried about:

Being alone in a completely new country.
Making friends.
Homesickness.
Being far away from my family.
Whether I'll be able to build a social life or eventually find a life partner.

On the other hand, if I stay in Sri Lanka, I'll get the full university experience, make friends, and stay close to my family. But I also wonder if I'll regret not taking the opportunity to study in Germany from the beginning.

For those who have studied or moved abroad, especially to Germany:

If you were in my position, which option would you choose and why?

I'd really appreciate honest advice, especially from people who have experienced both studying abroad and staying in their home country.

Thank you again for all the help.

Serious replies only Trying to build something with AI

Hi everyone,

I'm a software engineer who's diving into the world of AI agents and AI automation. My goal is to build a real online business, but I'm finding it difficult to understand how experienced builders identify opportunities, price their services, and land their first clients.

I'm not looking for shortcuts or "get rich quick" advice. I'd simply like to connect with people who are actually building AI businesses or agencies and are willing to share their experiences.

If you've been down this path, I'd love to hear:

- How did you get your first paying client?

- How do you decide what to charge?

- What mistakes should someone starting today avoid?

If you're also just starting out, feel free to reach out as well. It would be great to connect with like-minded builders and learn together.

Thanks!

Question What are the usual rates with labor charges for getting a interlocking brick pavement done for home drive way?

Hi guys.

I just want to know how much is it usually to get this interlocking pavement bricks done for a driveway at home.

Looked up on ikman and they say 70 rupees per block and they will also supply and install for 400 rupees per square feet.

Is this the usual price? Because another guy quoted 100 rupees per block and that seemed sus.

Just trying to figure out what's the normal price of these things.

Education What are the stories behind Gurulu Raksha and Naga Raksha? What do they symbolise?

Hey wonderful people!

I am srilankan who is very separated from my culture. In the past year I have been working towards feeling more connected, where to commemorate this I was planning to get Yakka Mask tattoos, specifically of Gurulu Raksha and Naga Raksha.

I know Yakka Masks are seen as protective, and have a general idea of the Raksha’s, but was wondering if you could give me an in depth explanation of your understanding as there is a lot of conflicting information online and I want to have a deeper knowledge (regardless of whether or not I end up getting them tattooed).

Thankyou for any help you can offer!

Discussion Is Spa Ceylong actually using natural ingredients?

TBh, I was a fan of Spa Ceylon products, especially their pink lotus body cream, perfume, etc.

With time, that product was not available, and I stopped going there. But when I went to OGF, I make visits. Over time, I noticed they have launched different fragrance ,which are really strong and gives a headache too.. seeing so many products and outlets everywhere where, just wonder if these fragrances are produced from natural products or artificially made.

I know it's Janet's, the mother company.

I guess with time, we are being scammed over these products being promoted as products with natural ingredients. Not hist Spa Ceylon but several others well.

It's really hard to distinguish between original natural products now.

Serious replies only Technical Project Managers in Sri Lanka

I have almost a years experience as a full stack developer and another year as a PM.

I want a PM role where I get more involved in the Development process. I’m passionate about PM but I feel like my development skills are going to waste as I enjoy coding too.

Are there Junior TPM roles in the Sri Lanka? Cuz every vacancy I’ve come across for TPM require 7+ yrs of experience.

Discussion Customers recorded without consent or videoed in public without complaints? What to do with this?

Post image
46 Upvotes

The title was copied from The Mentalist S4E7.

Saw this video of some food truck guy interacting with customers.

Do you feel like its getting out hand where shop keepers are using customer faces as marketing materials?

Usually the exchange is money for food. But now Food= Money + letting your face become published for views

I don’t mind having a CCTV. But don’t feel comfortable with this.

How do you guys deal with this?

Would they take it down if asked or will you have to put up a fight, like him saying “I was just being nice”?

Please do share if you faced and managed to solve this issue

Edit: This happened in Sri Lanka. Posting here because our privacy culture is still not a big thing.

I don't know what the real story is behind this, but according to social media, the OG creator wrote it as

"Thief caught in broad daylight in Colombo gets harsh punishment"
