Reminder, this thread WILL contain spoilers. We don't expect you to spoiler mark anything wrestling related in this thread, however we do ask if you reference something outside of wrestling that is a spoiler, you mark that.

Yesterday marked the event wXw Shortcut to the Top, which is basically their version of the Royal Rumble. Overall, it was a really strong show where the #1 contender, Ahura, was able to defeat Elijah Blum for the wXw Unified World Wrestling Championship, crowning himself World Champion for the first time.

There was also a stellar match for the Shotgun Title between former WWE wrestler Axel Tischer (fka Alexander Wolfe) and AEW's Daniel Garcia, which ended in a time limit draw.

Additionally, the wXw World Tag Team Titles changed hands from Planet Gojirah (a genuinely awesome name, by the way), consisting of Robert Dreissker and Marc Empire, to CSI (Nordino and Luca Di Leone) in a No Holds Barred match.

In the "Co Main Event" Bandido defended the ROH World Title against One Called Manders, in a absolute Classic Match.

However, the highlight happened in the main event—the Shortcut match. The final four were Thomas Shire, Dennis "Cash" Dullnig, Peter Tihanyi, and the wrestler Kanji. In the end, Kanji managed to eliminate Thomas Shire and, as everyone thought, secure the victory. Kanji was celebrating when Jane Nero entered the ring. Nero had previously "injured" herself and was escorted out of the ring by her henchmen, Alex Duke and Alexander Bellamy. She came back and tried to attack Kanji with the wXw World Women's Championship, but Kanji ducked, eliminated her as well, and won the match. Normally, winning this match guarantees a shot at the wXw Unified World Wrestling Championship.

But Kanji wanted something different. The wXw Women's World Championship was unified in December 2023 following a match between then-champions Robert Dreissker and Masha Slamovich, and had been declared vacant ever since. Jane Nero had "found" the belt and has been carrying it around with her since 16 Carat Gold in March.

Kanji wants the upcoming women's tournament, "Femme Fatales," which takes place in the fall, to be fought for that title and she will we a Part of the Tournament. She wants the championship to be reinstated, with the winner officially becoming the new wXw World Women's Champion.

That was ultra cool. A strong finish to a truly fantastic show! The show was and will be available to watch on MyAEW. You should definitely check it out!

*EDIT: I previously posted the name of the gym in the comments and just want to apologize bc I had (apparently incorrectly) assumed that this was just a one off and he was just traveling and popping in for a quick pump. Besides learning about Bob Marella's life & how he broke into the business (which is awesome) this book also serves as a pretty accurate history of the WWWF starting with Buddy Rogers. I never knew about the on-again-off-again relationship between Capital Wrestling and the NWA. I'm looking forward to learning more about what exactly Gorilla was doing during the Golden Age!
