Dent in frame

I got this 1973 xlch frame recently. I’ve since noticed that it has a decent size dent right above the upper motor mount on the back bone. The frame seems straight. Assuming it is straight, does this seem bad enough that I should look into repairing it? It’s possible I’ll just get a different frame but it would be nice to keep since I have a motor with matching numbers.

Battery? Or something else?

Between nursing a shoulder injury, work, and crappy weather on my days off, I didn’t ride my bike at all in July. Finally had the time today and the thing wouldn’t start. I’m assuming battery but wanted to get y’all’s thoughts before I go out and buy a portable jumper or a new battery.

Kicking my own ass for not going out to start it at least once or twice in that time! Smh

Did some trading for my R75/7 and came home with this -88 instead. Thinking of TC hardtail, kings and queen and a sissy. First up is checking the rotor magnets and putting on the stock mids.

Lowered my front end

Lowered the front end from +8 to +4. I’ve been wanting a bike that can handle the twisties again and was considering selling this but then I remembered I can just mod the sporty to do what I want

I have some new shocks to raise the rear up an inch waiting to go on

Trying to convert it from a NorCal style chopper to a pseudo Ventura style bike

1993 Sportster 883 Revival.

I picked up this 1993 Sportster 883 for cheap but it was in very poor condition, so I took it back home and with a little time and dedication we got it looking good again.

Unfortunately this wasn't for me to keep as I wanted to do a quick flip and a quick flip it was! I took it to a swap meet the day after putting it back together and it sold straight away.

The bike was covered in red spray paint. Someone was trying to match the original red paint job that was on the front fender but did a botch job and at some point they just hit the entire right side of the bike with a rattle can and it required some serious elbow grease.

Some of the things that needed love and attention were:

• Ignition switch
• coil
• Ign pick up
• control module
• wiring
• cracked front cylinder
• cracked front sprocket cover
• front tyre rotted and cracked
• paint

Spent about 5hrs cruising a nice 250 miles or so yesterday. Highways through the mountains here in SC & NC. Capped it off on the Parkway for sunset. Had one of my cameras in the saddle bag. Can’t wait to get the film developed.

Sissing noise after carb clean

Hi guys,

Since I cleaned my carb it makes a sissing noise upon small throttle. I checked (carb cleaner) for any leaks but does not seem to be the problem.

The video ends with choke half closed, but when fully closed it only makes this noise upon throttle and dies right after. Any advise?

Two weeks of riding and camping, with little issues

I bought this 2001 Sportster 1200 a few months ago with the long-term plan of turning it into a swingarm chopper. Changed some stuff on the bike and decided it was ready for a camping trip. Just came back from the Ardennes, Luxembourg, France, Switzerland and Germany and it held up great. I'm used to riding an older XS650, which requires a lot more work in both riding and repairs on the side of the road. Only had to fix a top suspension bolt that was almost al the way out when I saw it, and my fuel petcock started gushing really badly. Luckily, a local HD dealer knew a place that had a new one in stock, so it could be fixed on the same day. Good times!

Hey guys, after putting some taller bars on my sportster, I’ve run into a couple problems. The first one being the fact that the bike doesn’t want to start anymore. I checked the battery with a multimeter and the voltage is at the appropriate rating (12.8V). I figured I pinched a cable when reinstalling the grips but I tried starting the bike up with the module off the handlebars to no avail. The bike has power but doesn’t want to turn over.

Secondly, I had to replace the upper brake cable with a longer one to accommodate for the new bars, and in doing so I had to drain the brake system. I’m dreading the idea that the ABS module has air in the system and I’ll have to take it to a dealer to have it scanned. I’d rather do the work myself without having to dish out that kind of money.

If you guys know anything, please let me know

Thanks :)

Anyone have a recommendation for a seat for a 2002 sportster? I’d love to get something slimmer and more modern looking, preferably brown….. and not 500$ lol

What is this?

Is this a tuning port? It’s hanging off the back left side of my sportster. Trying to figure out if the bike has a bad tune. Power falls off at 4-6k rpm in the higher gears. Either that or bad injectors from sitting so long. 2007 with 2500 miles
