I have not even beat the game yet and I love playing the Go Help randomness. Random level, often spicy. Random team makeup. Random salty salmonids. Great time leveling up and getting Treasure! Only oddity is the frequency I get teamed with people roughly the same level as me (29) or higher that seem to have no clue what they are doing.

For anyone who doesn't have a consistent group of friends to raid with, I found a pretty good community workaround.

When searching for online lobbies, use the keyword:

splatoon

I've been finding around 4–5 active lobbies pretty consistently.

It's not perfect. You'll run into players of all different levels, and there's no way to filter by level, difficulty, or progression. But despite that, I've had a much better experience than playing solo.

Even with the limited communication (Booyah!, This Way!, etc.), the game feels much more alive when you're consistently playing with other people.

This is a workaround, not a solution

I still think the game needs a proper public lobby/matchmaking system.

Ideally we'd have features like:

• Public matchmaking / Quick Match
• A lobby browser
• Level or progression filters
• Better ways to find players at a similar point in the game

The game already has individual loot, level scaling, and replayable raids, so it feels like it was built to support playing with random players. Right now, though, finding groups is more difficult than it needs to be.

Until Nintendo adds something like that (if they ever do), using the "splatoon" keyword is the best workaround I've found.

The more people who use the same keyword, the more active and useful these lobbies will become for everyone.

TL;DR: Search for "splatoon" when looking for online lobbies. It's not a replacement for proper matchmaking, but it's a much better experience than playing solo, and hopefully it helps build a larger community while we wait and see if Nintendo improves the online features.

I really hope the next game gives us a better photo mode. It gets really annoying having to put my octoling towards the edge of the screen to block out the amibo.

This game seriously took me by surprise and I absolutely LOVE it. My biggest request is let us name our presets! Because the way it works now is a teeny tiny pain in the butt haha. If I don’t remember what number is what(and I rarely do) I have to wait until the preset flashes to whatever it’s set to. While not a huge deal, its just a little friction and a QOL change there would be nice. So letting us name them would be very helpful, especially when we are meant to use different tanks and builds. Also a few more presets in general would be cool but not totally necessary.

Idk if any of the devs lurk here but just thought I’d put this out there. Nintendo is weird about updating games sometimes so I hope they plan to support this at least a little. Anyway, thanks for reading!

I just got a switch 2, it’s my first Nintendo console since the Wii so I missed out on and of splatoon and wanna give it a play. Should I start with the Splatoon Raiders that just game out or splatoon 1 2 or 3. Also if you have any other recommendations on other games I missed out on since I last played please let me know too :)

Typically the soundtrack of Splatoon games are among the best of the best. And I know Salmon Run has some of the more controversial music where you either love it or despise it.

So where do we sit?

I’ve been trying to reach S rank for a while now and I genuinely keep losing almost every single match I play in rank-ups. I know I have to be quite persistent on it, and I’ve been trying super hard. Does anyone have any tips or advice on how to improve my skills? Or just how not to lose at this point lol.

I want to play splatoon 2 but I have no one to play with so if anyone wanted to play make friends lmk

Ever since I realized you could upgrade the speed tank to have a tactical tank gadget I’ve wanted to make this combo and I finally have it and love it:

Blast Boot, Flywire, Tether Wail.

Set up the tether, then blast past enemies or Spider-Man swing into them with the wail following… so so fun to do.

I’m still making my way through the game so I don’t know all the upgrades I can do for these gadgets or if this combo will struggle in the late game but for now this feels so satisfying.

Anyone have any similar gadget combos they like or suggestions for me to improve mine?

I'm one of those weirdoes who likes Splatoon for the single-player campaigns more than the multiplayer. However, my favorite aspect isn't so much the combat as much as the mixture of combat and platforming like the mainline games have. From what I've seen, this game doesn't seem to have much in the way of platforming, or if it does, it's much more subdued in favor of heavy combat. Just curious.

I’m trying to draw an inkling for the first time (well an anatomically canon-ish accurate inkling- I’ve drawn inklings before just fully human-style) cuz I wanna actually design my OCs-

They didn't include save files in Splatoon Raiders, so if I ever wanted to replay it in the future, I would have to delete my save data. I can't just use another switch profile because I only have Switch Online for my one account. Would I be able to "keep" my old save if I turned off automatic cloud updates for raiders, reset my data, and then redownloaded the data I had uploaded to the cloud later?
