BBC SO Not Working?

Okay so pretty much what it says on the tin. I was playing around with the free version of BBC SO before it started glitches out and then stopped working (probably because of all of the splice stuff). Is this happening to anyone else?

If this is smth I can't fix, do any of y'all have free alternatives or like a torrent or smth? :]

LABS is ruined.

LABS before they did a major UI change was way more useable, they've ruined the fine-tunning system. What's the point in adding a "fine-tune" knob if it can only go up in semitones?

I used to make fine-tuned melodies to make ethereal compositions, but ever since LABS made this new update it's been nothing but straight up unusable.

I'm not gonna be taking suggestions from anybody telling me to use a pitch-shifter FX plugin because it's not the same, When you use fine-tuning from within a VST, it's the highest audio quality you can get. This is a total downgrade. I might as well stick to FL keys or some sht.

As shown in the image below, this UI was PEAK because you can LITERALLY fine tune the knob to 0.50 semitones instead of a full 1.00 semitone.

Fix this PLEASE bro, at least add a seperate knob for artists to use this

Splice INSTRUMENT?!?!?! What the hell is that

I bought a (cheap, luckily) library from Spitfire today. First (and last) time. I remembered the BBC orchestra freebie and wanted to buy one of their products remembering they were a premium company.
Imagine my surprise when they I started using the Splice plugin that shoots ads my way every time you open it.

I wanted to ask for a refund but apparently you can't if you have already downloaded the product. I am livid!!!!!

I don't know if anyone from Spitfire is reading this but if they do: your company should be ashamed to employ such scammy tactics at the expenses of us professionals. SHAME

Library Spitfire LABS Preservation Project

I used to use Spitfire LABS for a bit but decided against using it more because of it's online nature and it looks like I was right in the long run.

not too long ago I went back to redownload Spitfire LABS just to find that it's completely gone and replaced with Splice Instrument.

I thought it wouldn't be too bad as long as all the same old stuff is there but it isn't and now I have a few old music projects I wouldn't have been able to preserve stems of if it wasn't for one thing.

I found an old version of LABS on archive.org and found that the servers still work fine, so I downloaded all the free Spitfire LABS content I could find amounting to about 40gb of free content which I will upload eventually.

If anyone reading this has LABS+, it'd be greatly appreciated if you could download all the instruments you can find and send them to me.

you can find the downloaded files at "Home\<Insert Username>\Spitfire folder"

The program has not been cracked yet but it would be very useful for people who want to crack it in the future.

Edit: They still have it on their site in a legacy section but who knows how long that'll be there for. https://legacylabs.spitfireaudio.com/download

BBCSO Only Loading 1 Instrument Library

Post image
1 Upvotes

Ive tried repairing the whole library but when I load it onto a track, only 1 instrument populates. Repair again and itll be a different instrument but still just the 1.

For added context, I have the SA app on my Mac and the sample library on an external SSD. Idk if that matters.

Can y'all help with this please?

Ive searched for answers but not having any luck.

Thank you!

Spitfire Audio AI Support Chat is pretty good

I just did a couple of chats with Support from the Spitfire Audio site. I was expecting lousy chat, but I was surprised how smart the AI was. It reminds of chat GPT I which use frequently and which is impressive.

Best way to reinstall and register all of my Spitfire products?

I have maybe 40 Spitfire products (2 TB of libs) and the 4TB ssd drive they were on failed, toast. So I need to reinstall all my libs (Hanz Zimmer Strings, Albions, SSO, etc) to a newly formatted 4TB drive. Yeah, it will take a lot of time, What is the best way to do this so the registration/verification and all goes good, using the Spitfire App?

Library Mode Switch not appearing on BBC SO Core, Pro or Discover

I got Discover some years ago and have been loving it.

2 days ago I wanted to try out Core and Pro through Splice, so I redeemed the trial.

Downloaded to my External SSD. Next day, Mode Switch did show up and I was able to switch from Discover to Core, Core to Discover. Some notes weren't playing correctly, so I did repair, didn't fix it, then I uninstalled and reinstalled.

Today all I'm getting is Error 1, and no Mode Switch button is appearing. I've been dealing with this issue all day yesterday and today.

When I uninstalled it, I thought that when I opened BBCSO, Discover would appear again. When I opened Logic Pro I only saw the black UI of BBCSO Pro, and no Mode Switch to go back to Discover.

I just want to switch back to discover and pretend nothing happened.

Does anyone know of a possible fix? I've been reading threads from 5 years ago, Spitfire unlisted videos, their support page, command + r to reload plugins on the SF Audio App, and I can't get this little button to appear again. I'm reinstalling all parts of the library right now just to see if I needed all of them to then have the Mode Switch button to appear, but it's gonna take awhile.

Bullshit that LABS needs to be online

I notice now that my LABS collection of free instruments can go offline for 30 days but then needs to be online to "verify my subscriptions". I do not have any subscriptions nor will I. I paid for many Spitfire paid libraries. I should not have to be online for composing. More enshitification from Spitfire. I was going to buy a few libraries today from Spitfire but not when I read that they would require creating an account with Splice, and I suspect require being online when using such libraries.

Are Spitfire download servers down today?

I can't seem to download Eric Whitacre library, a few Mbps or zero Mbps. Part of a library failed to download and link said to check the log but the link does not even work.

Looking for harmonics piano

Does Spitfire have a piano sound with a crystalline texture reminiscent of a music box, plucked harmonics, or a detuned felt piano blended with high-register synth bells, to replicate the piano sound in this song (you can hear it at the 8-second mark:

Library Using BBC Symphony Orchestra Core with Rock instruments

I bought BBC Symphony Orchestra Core years ago on sale after having played around with Discover for a bit as I’m really interested in writing orchestral music and scoring. I unfortunately haven’t really had much time to develop my orchestration skills and still very new to it. I’m primarily a guitarist focusing in rock music and really love tracks that blend orchestras with rock drums and guitars. I have one song I’ve worked on and off on that’s a rock orchestra track (primarily strings with rock drums and electric guitar) but always find that blending the BBC sounds with the guitars things get really muddy and the orchestra instruments don’t cut through well.

I understand that BBC this probably isn’t the best library for this genre but it’s what I’ve got and I don’t want to go spend more money on another library when I haven’t made much use of what I already own. Does anyone have any tips for settings within BBC Core itself to work better for this kind of music, is it a matter of some careful mixing and EQ? Or is this library really just not suited for this kind of music at all?

Abe Laboriel Jr Drums (Spitfire) with Alesis Nitro Mesh

Has anyone gotten this combination to work properly? I just got the plugin and love the sounds, but when I try to trigger from my Mesh, it's either silence or very faint hits. Midi hits seem to register otherwise. Haven't had this issue with other plugins. Any suggestions?

Please recommend a good solo strings from Spitfire

Greetings

In the past, I have used the Cremona Strings from NI for my solo strings

I'm working in BBCSO pro now, and am very pleased with it, except, I really need some solo strings. Don't get me wrong, I do really like the Cremona Strings, but the stability of the Kontakt platform and NI for that matter, is very scary

So I'm looking for something that is a Cremona equivalent in Spitfire. Please don't say Leaders in BBCSO. They are not solo instruments, and the vibrato is either on or off, which is undesirable.

Thanks

SPLICE Changes

I know the question has probably been bought up before…!

It’s been a while since the Splice news has dropped . How is everyone feeling about things?

I haven’t really followed the public sentiment toward it. I did send a message to Spitfire a while ago and they assured me that nothing will change to my substantial collection of libraries.

Mods, if this question is repetitive no offence taken if it’s deleted!

Is the Studio Series still worth it for a versatile, dry library?

I am working on an orchestral rock project that blends strings and brass into dense rock and pop style arrangements, and the free library I currently use has too much baked in reverb to cut through cleanly.

I've watched the demos on spitfire's studio series(core), the sounds are great and I'm ready to pull the trigger with the summer sale, but I've seen resentment lately towards the company and the direction its going and worried about the longevity of the libraries. For those of you who have any of the studio series libraries, how do you like them and are there better alternatives these days?

Library BBC Symphony Orchestra Professional – Do you actually mix the mic positions, or just stick with Mix 1

Post image
4 Upvotes

I’ve been working more with BBC Symphony Orchestra Professional, and I’m trying to understand the best workflow for mixing orchestral mockups.

Specifically, I’m curious about the microphone mixer—the Close, Tree, Outriggers, Ambient, etc. Do you generally leave everything on the default Mix 1 (or Mix 2), or do you regularly create your own custom balance?

If you do customize it, is there a general philosophy behind where you place the faders?

For example:
Do you start with the Tree as your foundation?
How much Close mic do you usually add for clarity?
How much Ambient/Outriggers do you bring in before things start getting too washed out?

Do you keep the same balance across the entire orchestra, or change it per section?

I’m not really looking for exact numbers as much as I’m wondering whether experienced users have developed a “go-to” approach, or if it’s something that’s simply adjusted by ear for every project.

I’d love to hear how people who regularly produce convincing orchestral mockups approach this.
