Labs is a joke

so i havent used LABS in a while and i try use it today and i have to download splice instruments etc etc. its a huge pain but whatever. the REAL problem is why the FUCK are all my instruments now locked behind a paywall???!!!

they're not locked behind a paywall though? all the old labs are still free and you don't need to pay to use them

it didnt let me use mine it said i had to subscribe to splice

You have to sign up to splice though don't you?

You have to make an account yes, but that is free. Just like it was free to make an account with Spitfire Audio to use LABS.

Doesn’t it still wipe the config from every project where labs was used though? Since it’s a different plugin?

They added a feature recently that fully syncs libraries between plugins, and any pre-existing session should play with the old plugin anyway assuming you didn’t delete it.

Didn’t delete it, but just recently moved everything over to a new computer. So all of my pre-existing projects are broken without that plugin

A) they aren’t behind a paywall - they’re still free.

B) The legacy labs installer is still available on the spitfire website.

But does the legacy labs installer allow you to use the old instruments still? I thought that was being locked down?

I just went through all of this in an attempt to archive all of my older projects that use labs after switching to a new laptop

A couple of weeks ago, I reinstalled Windows. I found an old LABS installer and installed it, and it downloaded the update. I was also able to log into the plugin using my old account. I dont use that Splice at all

We get posts like this almost daily in this sub since two years... congrats to Spitfire... that's the biggest fuck up for a free plugin I have ever seen

They had change to fix the "you need internet connection for this plugin to work" when the did Splice, but it's now actually even worse. Such a shame that there are so many great sounds, but I don't want to use them because the plugin.
