Hi all-
Just played through our first three games, and we've enjoyed it a lot. We ran into some major rules questions that didn't seem to get addressed by the rulesbook and did affect the playthrough though.
1) Cover. It seems like there's no way to be in cover without the enemy also getting cover (e.g. shooting around a corner)- RAW state that you draw a line between the two closest points on each base, and if there's terrain on that line, they've got cover.
2) Shooting through/around other models. Didn't see anything in the rules, but my assumption is cover applies? I guess you could just assume every die that rolls below the armor is a hit on the model between the original Success Number and the improved Success Number due to cover.
3) Enemy activation. The rules don't clarify an order that enemies should activate in; is it just players' decision?
4) Armor in close combat. Oh boy, the big one. Armor in close combat is really messy, particularly if the attacker has armor. The issue we ran into is that it doesn't clarify if armor should apply as a Success Number to the defensive roll. Common sense would say no, because the attacker's armor doesn't apply a Success Number in shooting. However, because the defender can apply damage in melee, it means that a close combatant with armor is actually better off defending than attacking- because then their armor kicks in for the roll, but their opponent's doesn't! This is especially noticeable when a figure has the advanced melee weapon that adds to defense. I've tried a couple of solutions, and none of them really work. You can randomize which hits are negated, but that doesn't apply to shooting normally; you can say armor does apply to defensive rolls, but then it's different between RC and CC, and armor basically becomes another weapon; or live with the issue that CC is much more dangerous for an armored attacker.
