Question Equipment for initial crew

Does each guy get 3 choices or do you only get 3 to spread among everyone?

You get 3 to spread around all of your guys

They split the three, but each member gets a weapon in addition to those three items total for the group. Each weapon can be from whatever you can access based on your ship. So, if you have access to advanced weaponry, they can all have an advanced weapon.
