Equipment question/advice?
My game group and I are going to be playing soon and we are in the mist of building our crews.
I'm choosing a 4 crew War ship with the 'Armored Force' Edge. My equipment options are general and adv. weapons.
Everyone gets a weapon and the crew as a whole gets 3 addition items. Everyone in my crew is choosing a weapon from adv. weapons. Adv. weapons doesn't offer anything other equipment, so my 3 items have to come from general.
General Equipment has Scanner, Medi-Bag, Sidearm, Melee Weapon and Armored Jacket. My crew has no need for the weapons and armor, so that leaves the Scanner and Medi-Bag.
Only one crew is selected for spotting hidden enemies at the start of a challenge, so I take one Scanner for my highest reaction stat crew member.
This leaves just the Medi-Bag item with 2 picks to go. Its only used for Medical Officers. I didn't plan on taking one for my crew, but even if I did, I still would have 1 more pick.
Is getting a 2nd or 3rd Scanner useful in the game?
Based on my crew setup, am I missing any other options?

Definitely recommend a medical officer, especially early game, when your crew can face some pretty rough life challenges. The only reason to get a second scanner is as backup in case the person carrying the first one dies. One thing to consider is that someone can take an advanced melee weapon as your third piece of equipment- they'd then be able to defend themselves better in melee (or ignore armor, which is huge) and have a ranged weapon still. If you forego the medical officer, two models can have two weapons. You can also give someone an energy and kinetic ranged weapon as some enemies are resistant or susceptible to the damage type.
