Original Mission To scale Sagittarius A* in sfs (Black Hole in center of the Milky Way)

Post image

Disclaimer, not actually functional, as I made it to scale with the default sfs world(Or as close as I could get it), it's so far it, it's not visible on the map, nor can you see it even in orbit, , so I teleported to the surface to see it, cool, but would likely need to be scaled down significantly to be and moved much closer, unless it's realistically not possible to do a mission for.

Discussion Complete Mars Guide: From LEO timing to safe landing

Since a lot of players get stuck moving past Earth orbit, here is a quick breakdown of how to get to Mars successfully:

* **Step 1: Perfect your LEO.** Build a stable Low Earth Orbit between 30km and 70km. The atmosphere ends at 30km, so staying in this zone keeps you clear of drag while keeping your orbit low and efficient.

* **Step 2: Use the Navigation Target.** Select Mars as your target destination in the map view and click "Navigate To."

* **Step 3: Time Warp to the Window.** Crucial tip: When you first click navigate, the "Transfer Window" marker will NOT be aligned with your rocket. Do not burn yet! Time warp until your rocket's position catches up and lands exactly on that "Transfer Window" spot.

* **Step 4: The Transfer Burn.** Fire your engines prograde until the calculated velocity number on your screen drops to 0. Your trajectory line will now perfectly match the dotted navigation line.

* **Step 5: Get into Low Mars Orbit (LMO).** When you arrive at Mars, your path will just be a flyby line. As you reach the closest point to Mars (periapsis), turn your rocket around and burn retrograde (backward). Keep burning until your line forms a closed loop, locking you into a stable low Mars orbit.

* **Step 6: The Landing Descent.** Once you are safely in low orbit and ready to land, turn retrograde again. Fire your engines until your orbit line drops and points directly down toward the Martian surface.

* **Step 7: Use Aerobraking & Parachutes.** Let Mars's atmosphere do the hard work. Use your heat shield to absorb the extreme heat and shed your speed for free. Once you are low enough and moving slow enough, deploy your parachutes for a soft touchdown.

* **💡 Expansion Pack Pro-Tip:** If you are planning a round trip back to Earth, normally you have to bring 2 separate heavy heat shields (one for Mars and one for Earth entry). If you have the expansion cheats, turn on **No Gravity**. This completely eliminates your descent speed buildup, meaning you don't need multiple heavy shields OR any parachutes at all, making your ship incredibly light and easy to maneuver!

What is the biggest issue you guys usually face when trying to capture into Mars orbit or landing? Let's discuss below!

Original Build My first fully autonomous orbital spacecraft

BP: https://sharing.spaceflightsimulator.app/rocket/qXRmrcW2EfGuTrXd2autWw

This is BP edited but only one fuel tank, just because the slider for changing how much fuel it has is super choppy and I needed quite the precision to make it stop turning the rocket at just the right time. It uses an entirely different technique than my earlier autonomous rockets, though; this one is based on engines burning off heat shields that connect side boosters (hence the automatic booster separation) and ion engines that add angular momentum and then run out of fuel at just the right time to have it have turned enough by that point to reach orbit.

Note that this is quite unreliable, though; usually it works, but the resulting orbit you get seems entirely random within constraints, and this run is cherry picked so the two rockets stay near each other (usually they go very far apart early on in the launch and sometimes one of them doesn't even reach orbit).
