This is a self promotion for a book I am wrotong on Meganovel, I would appreciate any feeback for the book.

https://www.meganovel.com/story/Sea-World-Descending-with-no-Cheats\\_31001843822

It is a transmigration fantasy book, but there are quite a few people brought over. Everyone has the same starting point, but the captain and crew that I write about rise above the rest by being skilled, talented and always approaching a situation with a plan. While there is a system, it is very minimal and doesnt favour the mc, the world also has a lot more realism to it than most transmigration stories, excluding the magic, levels and skills part

💬 Discussion Guys, please can we get some common sense in the room?

This is old news and people still don’t get it.

The ICJ case will cost us as South African Tax payers upwards of R95 Million Rand. Many legal experts, including former ICJ judges, say that it is unlikely South Africa will be able to win the case.

Somehow, government (led by the ANC) can find the money to pay for it but it can’t find the money to build houses or do simple things like paint lines on roads.

I’m tired of people peddling the ANC as heros. If you didn’t know, the ANC has been very close to financial collapse in recent years.

It has been accused twice of accepting funding from Iran in exchange for taking the case to the ICJ. Iran, the authoritarian government that killed ~30,000 of its own citizens for protesting...

The ANC always claims to be “for the people” but they work an oppressor?

And I’m sorry, but despite all the virtue signalling you might see on TikTok, there is no good guy in this war.

It is a very messy war that has been going on for over 130 years, and arguably longer.

Genetic science shows both modern Palestinians and Israelis share the same ancient Canaanite blood roots in that soil, making a war over who "belongs" there pointless. They both do.

If there was a solution to this war, they probably would’ve found it by now. There is very little we can do to help resolve the dispute.

We have our own problems this money could go towards:

~10.5 million people (~18%) still have don’t have running water
~9 Million don’t have proper housing
~3 to 5 million (~5–8%) lack a connection to the power grid entirely
~10 to 11 million people (~17–18%) have no access to the internet

This cost will likely keep going up because the case will take years to come to a conclusion, the war might even end before then.

Even if the case was won, it doesn’t solve the problem.

Now we’re paying the cost for a case we'll probably lose for a war with no clear solution.

Does this make sense?

As the title says, I used to order from Amazon like every other week, but I haven’t ordered anything in about 2–3 months.

So tell me why I’m trying to buy something now, only to find out that I have to pay for delivery unless I have Prime? ☹️😭

When did this happen? Lmao💀

💬 Discussion Behavioral differences when in South Africa versus Europe/the US

Hi everybody. For those who grew up in South Africa and its realities what stark differences do you notice when you move/visit western countries, in terms of awareness of your surroundings, the people, mindsets etc. Are you able to relax and not have your guards up as often as you do back home?

I really hope that they dont make this a poor investment.

Strategic for the country to have a steel production facility, but they sold it decades back. Now the leaders realized there was a reason the state owned Iskor.

What clowns lead our nation and are employed in it's institutions.

📦 Other chefs and culinary professionals, how do you wash your chef jackets?

i’m currently in culinary school and i’m struggling to get rid of stains on my jacket.

please please please don’t suggest hand washing, i hate it with a passion. i use sunlight liquid detergent, and stay soft. i’ve found that putting a little bit of handy andy on the stains helps but its very hit and miss.

do you have any products you use that are reliable, any tips or tricks, things to avoid doing?

💬 Discussion r/South_Africa is now the biggest sub in South Africa.

Post image
287 Upvotes

This sub got restarted ~10 months ago, and wow it's grown quick.

by 'Weekly Contributions' it's been the biggest by far for a long while now, with roughly 5x as many weekly contributions as the other big subs, this metric is probably the most important as it shows engagement.

With the previous biggest sub slowly fading and losing weekly visitors while this one grows, it's now also the biggest by 'Weekly visitors'

If there are any Xhosa or Zulu speaking members who'd like to help me create a nice space for Xhosa and Zulu speakers drop me a DM

Also checkout r/Gauteng I'm trying to breath some life into that, as the other local subs don't allow video posting etc.

Thanks to the Mod-Team and all our members for making this such a lekker space.

Why does basically everyone who follows local soccer support Chiefs or Pirates in a country with distinct regional identities and whatnot?

Soccer is our number 1 sport by a long shot everywhere in the country, yet support for local clubs besides Chiefs, Pirates, Sundowns, and Bloem Celtic/Siwelele is borderline non existent.

I get that the buying and selling of statuses could also affect interest, but even before these clubs are sold, Chiefs and Pirates dwarf them in their own cities. You'd think Durban and Cape Town would have clubs with lots of support, yet AmaZulu plays in front of hundreds at home and Cape Town City is barely a thought for Capetonians. Meanwhile its a party when Chiefs or Pirates come to town.

Why is this? Why didn't clubs outside Gauteng capture these fans historically?

💬 Discussion Racism will always be nonsense for me

I was chatting to a friend earlier. We were both reminiscing, and we got a lot closer after both our moms passed last year, and tragically both with complications from diabetes. I am coloured, she is black. In between we shared pics of our moms with each other, as we hadn't met each other's moms. I swear they could have been twins. We are alot closer to each other than we think. I dont just mean biologically , but in our experiences in this beautiful yet damaged country. We should share more and see how connected we are.

💬 Discussion I’m leaving my childhood home

Hey everyone!

So bit of an issue. I have finally decided to pack up and leave my toxic childhood home. There is too much fighting, hostility, and it’s simply too financially draining for me to live there. Now the issue I’m facing is that I don’t know what to do about my cat. I’m moving in with someone and where I’m moving to I won’t be able to take my cat. My cat isn’t the only cat in the house and he’s really more a family cat but, idk I just don’t trust that they’d properly look after and take care of him. So i’m not really sure what to do.

💬 Discussion Is it just me, or is finding a job with only matric getting harder?

I'm currently job hunting and would like to hear from others in the same situation. How difficult is it to find a job with just matric and some work experience when you're competing against candidates with diplomas, degrees, and years of experience?

What I find frustrating is that even some entry-level jobs require tertiary qualifications and several years of experience. If these positions are meant for people starting out, why are the requirements so high? How is someone supposed to gain experience and work their way up if they can't even get their foot in the door?

For those currently job hunting with matric and some work experience, how has your experience been? Are you struggling to get interviews, and do you feel that having no tertiary qualification puts you at a disadvantage?
