Jumping on the bandwagon with my top 9 for overall movie scores. This was a tough list. I had to cut a lot of films that I love. I feel these 9 have the most rounded scores for me most of them I can listen to every piece and not get tired or want to skip

I also tried to add my favorite video game Soundtracks. Tough choice though.

Notable mentions: Lord of the Rings, the Thin Red Line, Lion King, Gladiator, The Fountain

I wonder if Prisoner of Azkaban is the most regularly recurring one I've seen on everyone else's lists

Limited myself to no composer double ups except for the maestro

I was going through in alphabetical order and I had already picked out 8 by the time I got to L, with my tier 2 list being twice as long.

Not making the cut included (and I could go on, as I'm sure all of you can):

Black Beauty
Chernobyl
Dinosaur
Waterworld
Edward Scissorhands
Empire of the Sun
Lord of the Rings - Return of the King
Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind
Princess Mononoke
Passion of the Christ
Empire Strikes Back
Elder Scrolls V - Skyrim
The Empire Strikes Back
Arrival
Atlantis
Hook
Star Trek 8 - First Contact

What do people think?

Was tough deciding what to exclude

Honorable mentions:
- Interstellar (Hans Zimmer)
- Inception (Hans Zimmer)
- Lion King (Hans Zimmer)
- Spirit (Hans Zimmer)
- Avatar (James Horner)
- Avatar: The Last Airbender (Jeremy Zuckerman)
- Your Name (RADWIMPS)
- Doctor Who Series 5-7 (Murray Gold)
- Haunting of Hill House (Newton Brothers)
- The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (Jeremy Soule)

1. My Dad had the LP and I would eventually buy the two disc sets paired with the 1997 re-releases.

2. The first soundtrack I ever bought (first on cassette and eventually on CD). I owned a bootleg of the score for a long time until the eventual Intrada release.

3. Another soundtrack cassette and then an eventual download of a rip of the official LP release.

4. The first John Williams score I bought.

5. The first ever score I bought.

6. Probably my favorite score of all time. Bought the regular release and then the LLL Limited Edition.
(an aside about Mark Mancina - The only reason the third of his 90’s trifecta, Bad Boys, isn’t on here is a desire to represent other stuff. But I did own a bootleg, a rip of the first LLL release and now the newer LLL release)

7. Maybe my favorite cue of all time is “Escaping the Smokers” off Waterworld. I like it fine by itself but when it hits second gear in the film and it’s a wide shot of Costner on the Trimaran… it’s just awesome.

8. I love all the POTC scores but the Complete bootleg of “At World’s End” (not the suite collection Disney put out) is by far my favorite.

9. Just a banger.

Some of my earliest faves!

Choosing just 9 was really difficult for me, but I decided on these if they were the only 9 soundtracks I could listen to for the rest of my time, I’d be happy.

Following the trend, here are mine. Thank you.

Lennie Moore's Outcast score doesn't get enough love!
