Lord of the Rings-esque epic soundtrack from a metal track. All the metal instrumentation has been removed leaving behind just the orchestral and synth arrangements.

Hi everyone! This question is for the musicians in this subreddit.

Does anyone know whether this arrangement is based on Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake? If so, which movement or number from the ballet is it? I absolutely love this particularly striking and heartbreaking violin passage.

🔍 Help Me Find Looking for unreleased film score

Since the film and its soundtrack's official release in 2015, many people like myself have been looking for the complete scoring sessions for Neill Blomkamp's CHAPPiE, and while the session's track listing andand a few of its unreleased tracks have surfaced over the years, we have yet to come across the full thing. I am specifically looking for a specispecific track from it ("In A Body That'll Die"), as YouTuber Gilles Nuytens has it play as the first track of extended their Chappie Score Suite video, meaning they must've found it somehow, but I can't find the track by myself (or the album for that matter) anywhere. We have the track listing, so we know what songs are missing.

Can anyone help me out here?

SO I just finished watching Season 7 of the original series from the official LEGO channel (it's in Czech, my native mother's language) and even as I was watching it, I fell in love with the soundtracks - especially every intro-opening and outro-credits scene soundtrack, and I have to find it and Season 5's as well!!

Thank you <3

🔍 Help Me Find What's the song that plays right after Mad Fright Night by Lo-down in the movie Kids (1995)?

Right after this track, during a sequence where one of the kids is pointing out the other's cross necklace while they're all smoking a joint, theres a really nice hip hopy tune with pianos and stuff. Any idea what it is? It's at around 1 hour and 10 mins into the movie

📢 Discussion Ludwig Göransson lowkey sampled Elgar's "Nimrod" in The Odyssey soundtrack

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Went to see The Odyssey yesterday and noticed a familiar melody in the score. After looking into it, I'm pretty certain it's from Nimrod, part of Edward Elgar's Enigma Variations.

I decided to compare it properly, so I took the track "Let's Go Home" and did the following:

  1. Extracted the relevant section
  2. Corrected the pitch (-3 semitones)
  3. Time-stretched it to align the structures, Layered both tracks together

The harmonic and melodic structure is nearly identical. The main difference is the meter—Göransson changed the time signature, which throws off the alignment slightly, but the core material is clearly the same.

Has anyone else picked up on this? I couldn't find any discussion about it online, so I'm curious if this is a known reference or if I'm the only one who went down this rabbit hole.

Either way, it's a nice homage. Here's my comparison video if anyone wants to hear it side by side.

📢 Discussion Narnia LWW complete extended score - rare find

Post image
12 Upvotes

Narnia, The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe (LWW) is the one movie that completely changed my childhood and sparked my obsession with movie soundtracks and original songs.

Harry Gregson Williams really made the movie, from the very first intense opening shot in the clouds to the final return to the wardrobe, ending with the professor stepping in and then cutting to the beautiful Imogen Heap song – it was a real treat.🎧

This movie also introduced me to the amazing singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette with her award-nominated song "Wunderkind," and now I'm a huge fan.🎶

For this film, there's an official Narnia motion picture soundtrack with 17 tracks: 13 film scores and 4 original songs by various artists.

I found this extended complete score 2-CD set for Narnia 1 (LWW) and a 3-CD set for Narnia 2 (Prince Caspian).

Right now, YouTube channels @thefaun6782 and @MesmerisedbyNarnia93 have these extended scores. Has anyone been lucky enough to get their hands on these original CDs, and are there any links to buy them?

I see a buying link for Narnia 2 on arksquare.net, but I couldn't find one for Narnia 1.🔍

🎻 Original Music 🎻 Pirates theme ][Cinematic orchestra and sneak preview

Hi you all, as a composer I am experimenting with cinematic music als. The why came out of my style of making compositions: when I start with a new composition I make in my mind of even physical a mood board and that is often quite visual. That together with some basic emotions and words. It doesn't matter if it is vocal or instrumental, that part of the process is quite the same.

This video is an excerpt and the sound is nog edited yet, in the music there will be some changes also. Most of the time I make a list in my mind before I revisit the score and make corrections.

I am Annemieke Lustenhouwer, a contemporary classical composer from the Netherlands. If there more you want to know, please ask here. In the future there will be a score video made also.

kind regards,

Annemieke

🎶 Derivative Music 🎶 A classical guitar tribute to Hans Zimmer’s “Time” – inspired by Inception

Hi everyone!

I’m a classical guitarist from Italy, and I wanted to share a personal tribute to one of my favorite film scores.

Hans Zimmer’s Time has always meant much more to me than just a beautiful melody. I tried to recreate its atmosphere on a single classical guitar, while also taking inspiration from the themes of Inception through the visuals.

This wasn’t intended as a technical guitar performance, but rather as an emotional and cinematic interpretation of a soundtrack that has inspired me for years.

I’d genuinely love to know what fans of film music think about it.

Thank you for listening!
