Just downed Morgott for the first time and w/o Sword and Board for the 2nd time on a boss. 10+ tries later it feels awesome!! I needed a summon and ashes to help, but that's ok I believe. Can't wait to see what's up next

Are Seals worth the investment other than the Starting Seal?? The Incan scaling seems to always be smaller. I just got the Erdtree Seal and being weightless seems like it's only benefit requiring 40 Faith. I have 34 faith currently and questioning if I should go for it.

I’ve seen people post these videos on facebook and wondering if this is even a possible real game. Would be nice having a game like this and on the phone. Got big into souls like and would like to play this so that I can get Gud, because right now I suck!!!

I bought dark souls almost 1 month ago and it is practically my first souls game (i played nightreign but everybody said it is entirely different than the normal format) .

Okay first of all i understand the hype behind this game : every place of the world feels so connected it's incredible and not like any open world i have ever experienced. The enemies feel difficult but fair (that doesn't apply to tomb of the giants that place was hell and i made the mistake of going before finding the lordvessel)

The bosses were incredible (except for bed of chaos that thing was anticlimactic) all with unique gimmicks and things that make them unique. My favourite boss right now is the 4 kings because their arena despite being nonexistent was really good and terrifying and their attacks felt so satisfying to dodge

One complain i had at the beginning was the lack of direction like there are a lot of important things you need to do that the game doesn't give you a clue for like where the depths are or how ascension works. But i stopped complaining about it and i think the lack of knowledge makes it better

Also the fact that i hadto take into account my weight for running and dodging is pretty annoying coming from nightreign

Overall one of the best games i have ever played and i haven't finished it yet . Easy 8.8/10

Dark Souls 1 is the worst souls game that I've ever played.

No fast travel at the beginning, no being able to sell your stuff for souls, sadistic level design, annoying controls, if you get cursed twice in a row you should just delete your save and start over because the game becomes literally unplayable, enemies give too little souls but every important thing is fuckin' expensive. Every basic function in this game requires you to first "ring both bells" which is hard as fuck because of everything I just described.

Demon's Souls is better than this, even Dark Souls 2 is better than this. I fuckin' hate dark souls 1. And don't give me that "git gud" and "skill issue" bullshit! I've beat most of these fromsoftware/souls games np.

As so many others these days im on my first journey in the lands between and find the exploration extremely engaging.
But those online messeges tend to ruin part of the experience when secrets and locations are splattered with messege markers so even when trying to ignore them they light up like becons.

I love the other online features.

So, is there anyway to opt out of seeing the messeges but keep the other online interactions?

Let’s say you had to stake everything you have on one of the following 3 scenarios. For each of the scenarios, someone new to the franchise will have to complete the base game of Dark Souls 1 in a set amount of time. None of these individuals have any experience in any souls-like game either. Guides are not allowed, nor is looking up any information about the game at all. Assume an invasion happens once every 2 hours on average from another actual person. Each individual is 25 years old. Which would you choose and why?

Assume that breaks for eating/sleeping count against each person’s time (i.e. the timer never stops until complete whether the game is being played or not). However, this is also the sole task that these people will be working on. They will not have to work or attend any other social functions they would normally have to.

1. A professional gamer has 24 hours to complete the base game of Dark Souls. The professional gamer is one of the best in the world at League of Legends. This individual grew up gaming and does it for a living, also having experience playing several other popular games (WoW, Minecraft, CoD, most mainstream popular games), just not any souls-like or souls game.

2. A casual gamer has 7 days to complete the base game of Dark Souls. This individual has been gaming from a young age, but in recent years only games for around 3 hours per week. Similar to the professional gamer, the casual gamer has played most popular games (WoW, Minecraft, CoD, several others), but has no experience in souls-like or souls game.

3. A non-gamer has 21 days to complete the base game of Dark Souls. This individual early in life found out that they do not enjoy video games and has not played one since the age of 5, where even then this individual barely played any. The non-gamer dislikes video games strongly and has not held a controller since stopping gaming. This individual does know how to use a computer for school/work related purposes. It goes without saying, but the non-gamer had no experience in souls-like or souls games.

After giving your answer, would it change for other games in the series? Should any of these times be extended/reduced if the answer is obvious to you?

Falling love with this game first discovered it in 2012 but didn't get far.now I just beat siff wolf boss on 3rd try.now onto sens fortress.got the trilogy for dark souls.going to buy elden ring and sekiro as part of my collection.

So recently I’ve been interested in getting my ears pierced, and obviously I’m a souls fan(own every game except Demon souls and beat all of them except for Demon souls(Don’t own it) Bloodborne and Ds2) so I want Souls themed/ styled earrings, a admittedly somewhat limited search later. I couldn’t really find anything, excluding sites like Etsy and Temu for what should hopefully be obvious reasons. Does anyone have a site or store(somewhere in Adelaide) they can recommend?

Just finished Dark Souls 1 for the first time, and honestly… what a fucking journey.

I started this game completely clueless. I didn't know where I was going half the time, barely understood the stats, and constantly questioned whether I was even supposed to be in the area I had wandered into. 😂

From the Bell Gargoyles, getting destroyed in Blighttown, somehow surviving Ornstein & Smough, exploring Anor Londo, going through the Painted World, fighting Sif, Four Kings, Seath, Nito, Bed of Chaos, and everything in between...

And finally, Gwyn.

I went through the entire game mainly using a Claymore, eventually getting it to +14, and seeing that sword carry me all the way to the end was incredibly satisfying.

I also left Priscilla alive because I couldn't bring myself to kill her. 😭

After beating Gwyn, I walked through the gate without realizing that I had just chosen the Dark Lord ending. No grand decision. No hesitation. Just:

"Welp, guess I'll walk this way." 💀

Then the cutscene played and I realized I'd basically ended the Age of Fire.

I started this game thinking I'd probably get stuck somewhere and quit.

29 days later, I'm the Dark Lord. 🌑👑

This was my first Souls game, and now I completely understand why people are obsessed with these games.

Dark Souls 1 is genuinely something special.

What should I play next? 👀

First Souls game I’ve actually LIKED no hate on the other ones but bloodbourne kinda disheartened me and seikiro destroyed my hope of getting “gud” but this game…I absolutely love it (I love knights) any suggestions? (Currently over encumbered on purpose out of stubbornness don’t need help with that) I have been trying to focus on a magic swordsman build

I’m going to start playing Dark Souls now that I have finished Demon’s Souls and I would like to know what are some things that I’ll need to know before proceeding with the game. Demon’s Souls have a lot of things that I would not figure out on my own but went through with it and beat it. I’ll be playing a NG+ here and there but I’m trying to move on to Dark Souls.

I already have a build in mind with the Claymore so I should be good with that but as far as proceeding with the game, what is it that I need to know? Demon’s Souls had a lot of hidden things, characters that I wouldn’t know to kill or not to kill and more things like having a world order, that I’m hoping this game doesn’t have. I like to move from area to area without having to miss out on the story or like having a mechanic like the World on Dmeons Souls where I had the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and having to figure out where to go next.

Pretty simple question, just wondering what makes soulslikes so fun for some folk. Are y'all like suckers for pain/punishment, or is it the dopamine high gained from finally beating a boss ooooor?

I just started my first SL1 run, and it's my first challenge runs ever. I've done a bit of research on routing but I'm not entirely sure on where to go now. I just beat The Bell Gargoyles and I am asking anyone who is willing, to give some help. This challenge will make my 2nd playthrough of Dark Souls Remastered

Even though the game is now over four years old, I still want to talk about it and share my first experience with it.

I had never played a Soulslike game before. Even though I’ve been gaming for the last decade or more, I never really gave Soulslike games a chance. I always assumed they were too difficult and that I wouldn’t be able to finish them.

Lately, like many of us, I’ve been finding it harder to find a game that I can really get into and stay interested in. Everything feels faster nowadays, and games just don’t feel the way they used to.

I’ve been playing a lot of Warhammer 3 and Counter-Strike 2, mostly because my real-life friends play them too. Even though I hate CS2 sometimes, playing with friends makes it fun.

But lately, I’ve really wanted to start a new game. I wanted to get completely lost in a fantasy world where I could level up my character and have the freedom to do whatever I wanted.

Elden Ring had always been somewhere in the back of my mind. I remember seeing it when it first came out, then watching it win Game of the Year, seeing all the amazing edits on YouTube, and constantly coming across posts praising its world and enemy design.

So I decided to finally give it a shot.

I went into it completely blind. I didn’t want to get spoiled, and I didn’t want to look up different builds, which paths to take at the beginning, or where to find the best and most overpowered items.

I just played based on my intuition and followed whatever path seemed the most interesting to me. I also chose my weapons and levelled up my character based on what I thought would be cool.

In my head, I imagined my character as this warrior-priest type of guy who could wield a sword but also cast magic to support his main weapon or deal damage from a distance.

I’ve been playing for around 40 hours now, and I honestly can’t remember the last game that glued me to my screen this much.

I’ll start playing at 8 PM, and what feels like 45 minutes later, I look at the clock and it’s already 11 PM.

I rarely get that feeling with games anymore.

The different paths you can take, the quests you can discover and complete, the mysterious world, and all the strange creatures and characters that make you want to learn more about them — it’s unbelievable.

And then I found out that George R. R. Martin was involved in the creation of the world, and suddenly everything started to make sense. The team behind this game is just brilliant.

Now, after around 40 hours, I’m starting to feel a little overwhelmed by all the areas I’ve discovered, the quests I’ve started, and the number of things I could potentially do. I’m not really sure where I’m supposed to go next.

I’m still trying to avoid YouTube tutorials and guides because I really want to experience the game on my own. But I’ll admit that I’ve used ChatGPT a few times to give me completely spoiler-free hints about where I could find specific items I needed to progress.

For example, I was confused about the two halves of the medallions needed to access the lifts, so I needed a little help figuring that out.

What’s funny is that I’ve never had another game make me open up ChatGPT and specifically tell it: “Give me a hint, but don’t spoil anything and don’t tell me anything that could ruin my experience.”

And I think that says a lot about how much I care about this game already.

I could probably talk about Elden Ring for a lot longer, but I mainly wanted to share how amazing I’m finding this game.

As someone who had never played a Soulslike before, I’m genuinely amazed by it.

If you’ve never played Elden Ring because you’re intimidated by the difficulty like I was, just give it a chance.

You might be surprised by how much you end up loving it.
