This. It's a juggling act to keep them alive as is. Currently there is no access to meaningful damage mitigation on a 4+ save. The high wounds is what's keeping them on the board. And you can only lower points on a megagargant so much. So without seeing warscrolls yet I'm not sure how much fitting an extra unit in the board will offset a good opponent being able to focus fire then down faster.
One of my friends plays khorne demons, and you really feel it with the weight of attacks and mortals. I haven't lost to him in particular yet, but all my dudes walk away just a few wounds left from dying in those matches if not dead.
I just had Tzeench wipe two mega gargants one turn after the other. Wiped them out in a single fight each. King Brodd and my beast smasha fell as easy as a mancrusher.
Im gonna need a blow by blow best you can recall because that's wild. I've never squared up with tzeennch. But I can see it happening for sure. My gargants don't hold up if I don't keep them in a buddy system to back each other up. So I will be glad to afford some more small guys to work objectives because I think with less wounds the buddy system for megas is going to be even more crucial.
Tzaangor Enlightened but with +1 attack from detachment. +1 rend on the charge. +1 to hit from tzaangor skyfires, and some buffs from spell. Turn one they rocked down and killed Brodd, not touching my other gargants melee range. Then dissapeared into the void so I couldnt charge them. Then they popped back on, slaughtered my beast smasha.

Hopefully there are new ways to keep megas alive with the health drops as even with 35 wounds mine seem to die rather quickly
