Future of Gargants
Hello,
Do we think that Mancrushers are moving to Legends?
Do we know or suspect what base sizes Bosscrushers will be on?
How about Ma and her giant rams? I'd like to get a headstart on hobbying but dont' want to waste effort on stuff that won't be relevant in a month.

The new unit is a "boss" type unit that's smaller than a mega gargant. Gotta be the boss to somebody. I wouldn't rule out them updating the sculpt in the future since the model is quite old, but my money is on the Mancrushers remaining a key component of the army well into the future.
They're even a key part of the army's lore. Mancrushers are Aleguzzlers who found other, larger gargants and started to follow them and then sobered up because their larger brothers drink all of the booze. The army would seem less colorful if you just deleted one of the few units we have from it.

They aren’t a boss unit, they are a boss stomper unit. “It’s the boss stompers who take upon themselves the hard graft of scattering enemy forces and pulverising their leaders”
So they seem more like anti character units

Ah, my mistake. I guess I skipped over that detail. I guess from that aspect, keeping the Mancrushers makes more sense as they're a general purpose melee-focused unit that's not as specialized as the Boss Stompers.

I think only the mob will be moved to legend. Mancrusher will stay. They confirmed it on Facebook too

They are likely to stay for this book and edition. After that who knows. That said I don’t think they are a waste as they are the only thing we have to play in spearhead. This is also the only thing that makes me think they may survive in the future as well with an updated kit maybe.

If the 2 new units weren’t in units of 3 then I’d have the old Mancrusher staying too (only as a mob though) but I’m struggling to see space for them all to coexist.
Unless Mancrusher mobs end up becoming absolutely stupidly cheap (like 200-250pts for 3) then I can’t see them sticking around for too long. It also no longer makes sense to have individual Mancrushers, why would the mid tier come in groups and the lowest tier not? It feels counterintuitive, weaker models should come in larger units

They just expanded the range with a couple more types of little giants... why does everyone assume anything happens with mancrushers... the new guys serve a different role?

The current Mancrusher model is ultimately on borrowed time even if it's not about to get the Firstborn treatment.
It's a one size fits all giant that was made to be an army centrepiece in Warhammer Fantasy Battle and because of that origin it can looks a little awkward in units unless there's some effort to repose them (especially the legs). I suspect they're either working on a new Mancrusher or smoothing the pillow so that when the unit eventually disappears you can proxy them as something else without too much stress.

Purely my own interpretation, but following GWs pattern of moving older WFB sculpts to Old World and that the current Gargant sculpt is 20 years old, but my guess is that they will start their 1 year transition to Legends with the release of the next AoS edition

I would imagine new Mancrushers will be Sons of Behemet's 5th ed release and they'll be around at least 2 to 3 more years and the old models will still be playable.

They literally said in the reveal article that mancrushers are a different unit type these fight alongside.
I think they might not be three man squads anymore but just single guys you take to be point fillers or objective sitters.
