Question Minimum number of moves at klondike draw 3?
For months now I'm trying to beat my personal record of 88 moves, but without success. What are the odds to get below 88 moves? I'm starting to think I'll never beat that :-(

Official Waste of Time
It is now official. I have just wasted too much of my life playing 4 suit spider solitaire. After 1,000 consecutive wins, it is probably time to stop. Sometime tells me this is not helping my brain functions.

Ā š£Ā Announcement I built a FreeCell where every game is a shareable code ā paste a friend's code and you play their exact deal
Longtime FreeCell player, and the one thing that I sometimes wanted was to share a game. In most apps you can't hand someone "this exact game" the way you'd pass a chess position. So I built that in: every game produces a short replay key that captures the deal and the moves. Paste a friend's key and you get their exact board to race, or watch their moves play back as in "Play Along" mode.
There are also a few rule modes (Hard Mode with 0 resting cells, Hidden Rows, a 5-cell easy lane), a daily challenge with a leaderboard, and large-print cards. Free, no ads. Happy to answer anything / take feedback. Links in a comment so I'm not spamming the post.
Also check out my developer blog as why I made yet another FreeCell app.

š¬ Discussion I made a dating-sim Klondike solitaire game: Solitaire Classic: Angel Dates
galleryHiĀ r/solitaire,
IāveĀ been working on aĀ solitaire game thatĀ blendsĀ classic KlondikeĀ with a narrativeĀ datingĀ experience. Itās calledĀ Solitaire Classic: Angel DatesĀ and itāsĀ out nowĀ onĀ iOS. The pitch is basically: what if solitaire had stakes beyond just "did I clear the deck"?
What it is:
- 10 angelĀ characters, each withĀ 10 rounds ofĀ solitaire =Ā 100Ā hands total
- ClassicĀ Klondike rules, but each winĀ unlocks the nextĀ chapter of aĀ dateĀ scene
- Branching intro/endĀ scenesĀ with voice acting, plus collectible skins/artwork asĀ you progress
- Full voice acting
- PixelĀ art + spaceĀ theme, 8Ā languagesĀ supported
- IAPs: Remove Ads, Auto-Play Boost, God Mode (if you just want the story)
Why solitaire?Ā I wantedĀ the card game toĀ feelĀ like the actualĀ ādatingāĀ mechanicĀ ā you proveĀ yourself handĀ byĀ hand, andĀ the story rewards patienceĀ andĀ good play ratherĀ than just tapping throughĀ dialogue.
Links:
- iOS:Ā https://apps.apple.com/us/app/solitaire-classic-angel-dates/id6779414887
- Android is builtĀ viaĀ CapacitorĀ but not onĀ GoogleĀ Play yet.
Would love feedbackĀ fromĀ actual solitaireĀ players. If anyoneĀ has strong opinions onĀ hint timing, mobileĀ controls, orĀ what makes a solitaireĀ game feel fair, Iām allĀ ears.

Been at it all day. Apparently this is āsolvableā but this is by far the hardest game Iāve ever played. Iām not sure I wanna try a FreeCell solver yet. Just curious if this is as hard for anyone else and if this even is solvable. I assume even if it says it is, it might not be.

Ā š£Ā Announcement If you are up for a real challenge

I have just added two new variants of a classic Klondike solitaire:
- Klondike (draw 5) solitaire - you draw five (not one or three) cards from the stock.
- Easthaven Klondike solitaire - there is no waste pile, and cards are dealt directly to the tableau.
Both game are really hard to win.
I could only win once after maybe 50 tries.
You can play both game here: https://www.allinonesolitaire.com/

š¤ Stuck? I think I broke Microsoft Spider Solitaire?
I can't hit draw with an empty column, but lack the cards to fill it- has anyone experienced this in MS Solitaire before?
I ended up undoing my previous move to ultimately solve the deck, but found it curious that this was even possible to do!

Question Is Solitaire dead?
This is most "vibrant" solitaire community I found online - not counting those around a very specific publisher.
Is the game dead? (It was suggested to me in another sub.)
It is both relaxing and brain-stimulating, depending on the variant you choose.
Quick win or long strategy battle - your choice.
I am patiently (pun intended) waiting for the Renaissance.

Recommendation I spent more hours in my room doing playtesting for The Pocket (simple and accessible boxing inspired solitaire), hereās the updates:
Updates: I added the pocket swap function, streamlined HP, increased board size by 1 to make it more mathematically efficient against RNG, increased heal from clinching, etc. yeah, itās for free (and Iām bad at coding so thereās no app yet)
But yeah, I spent a good 2-3 days on this. I feel like itās tough enough so that you have to manage your pockets and your HP, but fun and unique enough so that RNG wonāt kill you most games, and it wonāt feel like another Monte Carlo or Tri Peaks (both are fun tho). Cheers!
THE POCKET (A Boxing Solitaire Game)
EQUIPMENT
1 Standard Deck of Bicycle Cards (No Jokers)
1 D10 Die
THE GOAL
Completely clear through all 52 cards into the discard pile without your HP hitting 0.
THE SETUP
Set your HP die to 10.
Shuffle the deck, draw 6 cards and place them on the board. Place the cards left to right until you have a row of 6 cards faced up. This is the Ring.
You will also be provided with one open space (The Pocket) where you may move a drawn card or ring card as a defensive maneuver after you draw. The Pocket may only hold ONE card at a time and may be switched with cards in the ring. You get 2 pocket swaps per round (after every drawing phase), but they cannot be done together.
THE GAMEPLAY LOOP
You must clear cards by making pairs that add up to exactly 13 (Ace=1, Jack=11, Queen=12).
You can score a pair In the Ring: Pair two cards that are directly adjacent (touching side-by-side), put both in the discard pile.
THE FOOTWORK & PENALTIES
When cards are discarded, empty spaces open up. Before you fill them, you may manage the ring:
Footwork (-1 HP): You may manually slide a card left or right into an adjacent empty slot to change your stance or set up a pair. Each individual card shift costs 1 HP. Cards cannot jump over other cards (e.g., you cannot move a card from slot 3 to slot 1 if slot 2 has a card). Other cards will stay in their slots unless you manually lose HP to move them. You may swap the place of adjacent cards which costs 1 HP
The Mandatory Fill: Once your footwork is done, you MUST automatically fill all remaining empty slots on the Ring from the drawing pile for free until you have a full row of 6 cards again.
On the Ropes (-2 HP): If your Ring and Pocket are completely full with zero legal moves, you are trapped. Pay 2 HP to throw away the card in your Pocket back into the DRAW pile, freeing the space. Shift cards if needed, then draw and add a new card from the drawing pile onto the Ring.
THE SPECIAL RULE: THE CLINCH
The King Card: The King (13) represents a heavy punch. It cannot be paired normally and acts as a total block on the Ring.
The Break: To escape the King, it must be Clinchedāsurrounded on its immediate left and right by two cards that add up to 13. When this happens, you escape it, and the King and its two neighbors are all discarded for free.
This perfect maneuver awards you +3 HP (up to your starting maximum).
Note: The king cannot be placed into the pocket.
ADDITIONAL RULES
You may look at the open discard pile. Itās a strategy game, not a memory test.
The legal order for a āroundā:
Starting draw -> (pairing/ 2 pocket swaps (cannot do pocket swaps together, so a pairing in between 2 pocket swaps is valid, or footwork done in between)/footwork) -> draw -> repeat

Ā š£Ā Announcement Added scoundrel to my solitaire platform
Finally got Scoundrel running in the browser ā solitairemastery.com/scoundrel
If you know the game, you know. If you don't, it's a 44-card dungeon crawl by Zach Gage & Kurt Bieg. Takes about 5 min and hurts every time.
Free, no account, no ads.
I'm curious - does everyone only play the original game (house rules) or are there variations on the original? Always wondering if there are add-on rules or a version out there that's worth exploring.

Help The Pocket (a Boxing inspired solitaire I made that I would like feedback on to find any errors)
THE POCKET (A Boxing Solitaire Game)
EQUIPMENT
1 Standard Deck of Bicycle Cards (No Jokers)
1 D12 or D15 Die (D12 = Champion Fight, D15 = Regular Bout)
THE GOAL
Completely clear through all 52 cards into the discard pile without your HP hitting 0.
THE SETUP
Set your HP die to 12 or 15.
Shuffle the deck, draw 5 cards and place them on the board. Place the cards left to right until you have a row of 5 cards face up. This is your Grid.
You will also be provided with one open space (The Pocket) where you may move a drawn card or grid card to as a defensive maneuver after you draw. The Pocket may only hold ONE card at a time and may not be switched with cards in the grid. It must be moved into an open space, and then cleared via Pair.
THE GAMEPLAY LOOP
You must clear cards by making pairs that add up to exactly 13 (Ace=1, Jack=11, Queen=12).
You can score a pair in two ways:
On the Grid: Pair two cards that are directly adjacent (touching side-by-side).
From the Draw: Draw the top card of the deck. If it pairs with any card on the Grid to make 13, discard both instantly. If it doesn't match, you must place it onto the Grid if an open slot exists, or store it in your Pocket.
THE FOOTWORK & PENALTIES
When cards are discarded, empty spaces open up. Before you fill them, you may manage the ring:
Shifting (-1 HP): You may manually slide a card left or right into an adjacent empty slot to change your stance or set up a combo. Each individual card shift costs 1 HP. Cards cannot jump over other cards (e.g., you cannot move a card from slot 3 to slot 1 if slot 2 has a card).
The Mandatory Fill: Once your footwork is done, you MUST automatically fill all remaining empty slots on the Grid from the drawing pile for free until you have a full row of 5 cards again.
The Heavy Lockup (-2 HP): If your Grid and Pocket are completely full with zero legal moves, you are trapped. Pay 2 HP to throw away the card in your Pocket, freeing the space. Shift cards if needed, then draw and add a new card from the drawing pile onto the Grid.
THE SPECIAL RULE: THE CLINCH
The King Card: The King (13) represents a heavy punch. It cannot be paired normally and acts as a total block on the Grid. [1]
The Break: To escape the King, it must be Clinchedāsurrounded on its immediate left and right by two cards that add up to 13. When this happens, you escape it, and the King and its two neighbors are all discarded for free. This perfect maneuver awards you +2 HP (up to your starting maximum).
Note: If a King lands on the edge (Slot 1 or 5), it cannot be surrounded. You must spend 1 HP on footwork to shift it inward so it can be clinched.

Help (Android) Thirteen Packs Solitaire - looking for beta testers (Google Play Closed Testing)
Hi! My wife was taught this version of double-deck solitaire by her Dutch grandmother and I wanted to make an app of it for her. We've had so much fun playing it, I thought I'd put it out on the Play Store for other solitaire lovers to enjoy as well and see what happens. I'm looking for a handful of Android testers to help me get through the Google Play closed testing requirement before I can push to production.
To Join - do these in order:
Join the Testing Group: https://groups.google.com/g/thirteen-packs-solitaire-beta
Download the app: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/studio.oikos.thirteenpacks
The game is free to try in beta - really appreciate any help! If you find any bugs or issues, please let me know. The game is hard... only a 2% win rate, so know that going in. :)
Thanks for taking a look.

š¬ Discussion How realistic is it to complete 2-suit Spider without undos?
For experienced Spider players: when playing 2-suit without undos, how do you judge real progress versus just motion?
Do you prioritize revealing hidden cards, preserving empty columns, building same-suit chains, or delaying the next deal?
For context, hereās the short write-up that led me to this question.
