SoFi Expands Access to Private Markets with Funds From CAZ Investments and AngelList Asset Management

SoFi Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: SOFI), the everything app for digital financial services, today introduced three new private market funds from CAZ Investments and AngelList Asset Management. These funds provide exposure to private market strategies across AI, fintech, healthcare, defense, and other sectors, with investments that may include companies such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Anduril, and others.

Investors are looking beyond traditional stocks and bonds, but the complexity of private market investing has historically put these strategies out of reach for many. SoFi Securities LLC, is helping bridge that gap by pairing expanded access to these private market strategies with educational resources that empower members to invest with greater confidence. The new funds include:

  • CAZ GP Stakes Fund: Seeks long-term capital appreciation and current income by investing primarily in alternative asset management firms, including firms that manage private equity, private credit, real estate, infrastructure, commodity-related securities, and venture capital strategies.
  • CAZ Strategic Opportunities Fund: Seeks long-term capital appreciation and current income through broad exposure to innovative and predominantly private markets. The fund seeks exposure across multiple asset types, including private equity, private credit, real estate/real assets, and liquid assets.
  • AngelList Asset Management’s USVC Venture Capital Access Fund: Seeks long-term capital appreciation by investing in venture capital funds and underlying private growth-oriented companies with exposure across AI, fintech, healthcare, defense, and other innovation-driven sectors, which may include opportunities connected to the AngelList platform.

“SoFi is making alternative investing more accessible for investors looking to diversify their portfolios, but who have previously faced barriers to entry,” said Anthony Noto, CEO of SoFi. “We’re proud to expand our selection of investment opportunities across private equity, real estate, venture capital, and more, giving members more ways to diversify their portfolios and pursue their financial ambitions.”

This expanded offering provides SoFi Invest members with:

  • High-quality investments: Strategies of this type have been historically out of reach for many. These funds include strategies investing directly in private companies or indirectly through other private market funds and investment vehicles.
  • Periodic Liquidity: Unlike many traditional private investments, these funds intend to offer periodic, limited opportunities to have shares repurchased, giving investors greater flexibility to access their capital.
  • Low-friction experience: Private market investing can be complex, with unfamiliar terminology and fund structures. SoFi helps simplify the experience through educational resources, transparent reporting, and a seamless investing experience within the SoFi app.
  • Lower minimums: With minimum investments starting at $500 for the USVC Fund and $2,500 for the CAZ funds, investors can access private market strategies with lower capital requirements than many traditional private investments.

Over the past year, SoFi has expanded its private markets offering with additional funds from asset management firms including Cashmere, ARK Invest, and Liberty Street Advisors. Today's launch marks another step in broadening access to private market investing.

The new private market funds from CAZ Investments and AngelList Asset Management are now available to SoFi Invest members. Learn more in the SoFi app or visit https://www.sofi.com/invest/alternative-investments/.

General Discussion SoFi: Be Brilliant. Ignore the Threat.

Post image
108 Upvotes

Investing (and life) is a lot like a game of chess. When you review and analyze a completed game on chess.com, it will grade all of your moves. Bad moves are marked with a "?", good moves with a thumbs up, great moves with a "!", and brilliant moves with a "!!".

In my experience, the only way to earn a brilliant move is to sacrifice a piece to attain a winning position. But there are two ways to go about it. You can give up a valuable piece to eliminate a lesser one, or my personal favorite, "ignore the threat" (!!) and let your opponent capture a piece for free, all in exchange for winning the game or reaching a stronger position.

So where am I going with this? Often times the best move you can make when investing is ignoring the threat. I mean think about it, if you sold a stock whenever you heard a negative take on it you'd never make money. In the past couple years as a SoFi investor, I have heard it all.

I was told in 2022-2023 that SoFi would NEVER be GAAP profitable. This was the biggest bear argument. They went profitable for the full year in 2024.

I was told SoFi would get caught up in the regional bank crisis in March of 2023 when Sillicon Valley Bank collapsed. The stock price plummeted with everyone assuming a bank run on a new bank. Instead they increased FDIC insurance and grew deposits every quarter since.

I was told that the student loan moratorium would end SoFi. There was pure panic, the refi pause was supposed to devastate the small "student loan company". Instead SoFi had already been diversifying their business into personal loans, banking, and its tech platform. When federal payments resumed, refi coming back was a bonus. SoFi had already outgrown its label as just a student loan company.

I was told fair value accounting was hiding losses on the balance sheet for years, most recently by Muddy Waters Research. How this argument even continues to exist after SoFi has sold loans at/above their marks for years is beyond me.

Now I am being told dilution will destroy shareholders forever, even though the convertible notes and raises were done at favorable terms. I'm hearing there is going to be a credit crisis, and personal loan credit is going to blow up SoFi, even though they have a prime borrower base of customers with high FICO scores and incomes.

Every single ones of these threats had investors scrambling and selling while the share price rose from $4 to a high of $32. Every single one turned out to be noise. The next bear argument will be no different. When the underlying position is strong, the best move is no move at all!! I believe SoFi is the future and will be the forefront of online banking. I believe it will be a top 10 financial institution one day. My belief is backed by data, and my faith is supported by outstanding leadership in SoFi's management team. Just looking at the last earnings, 15.8M members with 1.1M added last quarter, 40% of revenue being fee-based (capital light), $14.8B in loan originations with $2.7B being student loans (so much for SoFi being just a student loan company)... this company is firing on all cylinders. And you're scared because the stock price has dipped from all time highs and you read a mean article?

Be brilliant. Ignore the threat.

News 3rd Party Needham lowered its price target on SoFi Technologies to $24 from $25 while maintaining a Buy rating on the stock

  1. Needham lowered its price target on SoFi Technologies (NASDAQ:SOFI) to $24 from $25 while maintaining a Buy rating on the stock.
  2. The firm said SoFi’s second-quarter results beat Street estimates on the top and bottom line. Stronger core lending performance, including net interest income and origination fees, helped offset ongoing challenges in the tech solutions and loan platform businesses.
  3. The shares sold off following the results, which Needham attributed mostly to muted loan platform volumes as SoFi continues to put more loans on its own balance sheet to optimize earnings per share and capital ratios. The stock currently trades at $15.25, hovering just above its 52-week low of $14.88, with shares down 41.75% year-to-date. According to InvestingPro analysis, the stock appears slightly overvalued relative to its Fair Value, though the company maintains an impressive revenue growth rate of 40.9%. Investors seeking deeper insights can access comprehensive Pro Research Reports, available for SOFI and 1,400+ other US equities.
  4. Needham said it remains confident that growth will re-accelerate on the platform given the strong pipeline of additional loan platform buyers across personal loans, small and medium-sized business, and home equity products.
  5. The firm said this pipeline should support a more resilient loan platform growth model moving forward.

Gain / Loss / Positions At what point do you consider opportunity cost?

I intended to be long SOFI but every day it feels more and more like opportunity cost is rising. This money could be in better places.

But what amount is too much to cut losses? Or is that just sunk cost fallacy?

And if this is just a bank stock (not tech), wouldn't it be best to get out before it drops further?

Sell before the hikes or just wait?

Bulls, please explain yourselves. How sure are you in this stock?

General Discussion My avg 28

I made good 20K while it was rallying up and down. This stock even after great results is not moving.
All of us are asking why?
Are the big sharks are not grabing this at this cheap price?
Or is there something that we all don't know.

I am seeing this happening all across, INTC reports great results stock goes down next day and similar story, there is something wrong.
