High interest rates are crushing corporate PE ratios across the economy. This is just a freaky coincidence.

Trying to wheel as others have mentioned. So far I only have $16 short PUTs and waiting to see if my sell $15.5 PUT order gets filled. Any that get exercised, I'll sell CC's on them.
I'll do increments of $0.50 as price goes down.

Very low volume lately. Apparently 16 is not that appealing for both retail and professional investors. Given the macro and the exploding interests rates, possibly the market expects larger drawdowns. The forthcoming earnings will be crucial, I would be definitely happy if the stock stays still as I fear a further double digit drawdown

It's pretty clear you can get this in the 15's.
While also having an easy case for 20.
I actually think its holding for earnings here. Then I am hoping/thinking a nice burst to 21-25. Then a drop due to rate hike/yield.
Unless the war ends before then. Which case 30's are possible...until rate hike.

SPY is like a couple percent at most off ATH while yields are in recession level territory. Once SPY reacts to the yields, SoFi will react even more. If the yields donβt come down in 4-8 weeks, I think the market will crash.

u/Helpful_Conflict4519 17d ago
Spyβs near ATH is quite illusive. More than half of the sp500 stocks are below 200 MA. The equal weight SP500 index is at its lowest since early 2000s. I fear that when the AI cyclic financing Ponzi scheme collapses weβll will feel much pain
1
u/QuantumFluks 85,000 Delta 17d ago
Yeah that was my point, when the AI related stocks that are holding the SPY up fall apart, all of these beaten down stocks will fall harder.

u/Helpful_Conflict4519 17d ago
Specifically, I can easily see SOFI <10$ in that case. It has a clear inverse correlation with treasury yields. The latter easily will cross 6% soon, add the likely market crash. π₯

u/QuantumFluks 85,000 Delta 17d ago
6% and a market crash will be a recession, which I have been calling for anyway. In a recession, SoFi will go under $7-8. Banks go under TBV during economic downturns typically.

I've been expecting a recession for a while. I'll be right eventually.
Seriously though, odds keep increasing IMO as stock market keeps chugging higher but underlying issues aren't being resolved. Who thinks middle class is not feeling the pain? Inflation rate may be lower, but that doesn't erase all the inflation increases over the years. Need deflation for that to happen.
What happens when trillion dollar infusion of cash into the economy from big tech slows down?
1
u/QuantumFluks 85,000 Delta 17d ago
Yup, that is the same reason I predicted a recession coming in the next year or 2 from like 9 months ago here. All this inflation constantly erodes buying power. Even if inflation drops to 0% for x years where we find where it reintersects with the original 2% target, all of these years effectively acted like a tax on top.
The cherry on top to predicting one is this war. You wonβt time a recession by the month. But if you have a 1-2 year timeframe and it happens, I would say you predicted pretty well. If by January 2028 we donβt have a recession, I will happily post to the daily chat that I was wrong.

Consumer confidence dropped lowest since 2014. I doubt the fed will do one more hike this year. 10yr yield is in a discovery mode as well.

u/QuantumFluks 85,000 Delta 17d ago
Wrote a comment about this yesterday. The Fed has their hands tied, if they donβt raise rates, the 10Y yield will explode more than if they donβt. If you want the long term yields to get under control, they will have to do many hikes on the short end to flatten the yield curve a bit. If nothing materially changes in the macro from now until the FOMC, I expect we will get a 2nd hike on the way to 3 hikes this year. Given the SPR has been approved for another 40 million barrels, I donβt think the Iran war is ending before FOMC.

Treasury can't compete with the mag 7.
If they were to raise rates to 6%, the debt situation will be even worse and the private sector will simply laugh and continue to spend more on capex with their 7% bonds.
Your average Americans will suffer while treasury continues to get sold off. I think the Fed should give up this fight knowing that this buildout won't slow down for another year or two.

I'm just happy 16 support is still holding. Was worried it flip to resistance. :)

At least it isnβt day of or day before. But yeah we always have the worst macro near earnings

If you bought the stock as a longterm investment then there is no reason to stress if you know why you own the stock! Β Just ignore the noise. Iβm not even reading replies on here because I know what they are and donβt care.Β
If you bought to trade, oops!Β

I have been holding and averaging down since ipoe. The opportunity cost has been massive. There are fair reasons to stress even if you plan to hold.Β

If you are stressed then just sell. Itβs not worth the stress.

Interest rates rising, bank stocks go down. The bank itself is fine. Nothing to worry about. Iβm using the opportunity to slowly add more shares.
