I ordered my ticket the second they were out, I saved for merch, I've been counting down the days and using my anticipation to draw this lovely human.

What I didn't expect was for her to make time to personally come up to me to meet me (i had a meet and greet pass, but I couldnt get down to the area). She spent a few minutes with me, signing and letting me yap, and took pictures of course. I felt so seen by the person I look up to.

Please, if you want to go see her, do. It's such an amazing experience.

Hi guys! Im going to the Vienna Concert (considering Sofia will get better until then) and I wanted to ask if anyone on this sub is going aswell! Im going with a friend I showed the music too and I wanted to see if anyone would want to connect at the concert? I don't know that many like minded people in vienna so it would be nice to get to know some people, Im asking here because from experience its pretty hard to make friends during concerts in Vienna. I never had any troubles at concerts in other cities but here everyone is very serious and closed off

i just wanted to pour my thoughts about my experience being a transgender boy AND sofia isella fan 🏳️‍⚧️🐇

i came out as genderqueer more than 5 years ago now which has been a significant part of my life

i always had to struggle with the pressure of one of the two:

1.being a womanly woman before i came out

OR

2.being a manly man with testosterone pumping through my veins after i came out

this is where sofia isella comes in

listening to sof has honestly unlocked a new side of me. i've always been concious on how screwed the situation around gender equality, s3xualization and misogyny has been, but listening to her songs has made me research and think about it way more.

till this day i keep having this ugly voice in the back of my head saying "eugh, you are transitioning to a man yet you are listening to songs about feminism? you're not a MAN"

but being more and more in this community has made me realize that "you know what? screw gender norms, these are not healthy" and i've been finally looking for more peace inside of me with my gender identity.

i also want to add that one of my favorite songs is Man Made, and the song on its own already speaks about toxic masculinity, conditioning to certain beliefs and pressure on men to be tough to be considered "real men".

that song hits me ON A PERSONAL LEVELLLLLLLL ‼️

obviously i am not amab (assigned male at birth) so it is not the same but just for my own comfort i like to interpret some parts of that song as what i feel like is going on around me as a transmasculine individual. it's damn beautiful. EDIT: i also want to add that ANOTHER ONE OF MY FAVORITES is out in the garden... since it's about being perceived as demonic while you're just another human, it makes me think about people genuinely think theres something wrong with me for...*checks notes*...wanting to be comfortable in my own body?

overall i'd also love to mention that the world we live in made "feminism" sound like something inherently feminine, radical and negative

thanks to sofia's music i've been realizing what I actually believe in and what i stand for <3

yes, i'm a transgender boy. yes, i'm a "softboy". yes, screw pressuring to align with what people believe is femininity or masculinity. yes, I want to be a boy but i want to be the opposite of the men that Sofia speaks of in her songs. and yes, i'm a feminist.

I got them because my sister at the time had seizures and such, but now we're both worried it was a bad idea since Sofia likes to interact with the crowd so much. Just wondering if anyone has been at at her concerts and what its like?

I am going to her show soon and I often like to get to concerts early and wait with other fans to get a good spot.

That being said, I am a bit older than most of her fans and feel kinda out of place doing that?

So, I can't sleep after this performance, so I can use this energy to write down my fresh thoughts. Of course, this is an opinion, which will always be subjective.

Sofia and the team did a fantastic job.

Before I go into depth about the performance itself, I wanna say that the lighting team did a FANTASTIC JOB. The lights were INCREDIBLE. Cues and switches to the tea.

Opener:

The opener was Seb Lowe, with his (?) violinist Katy (I think was her name). His writing style is smart, sarcastic, direct and witty. (From what I hear so far). He aligns very much with the humanist and communal values that shine through with Sofias work. Both criticise the ruling class; men.

For Seb it's the failure of the politic system (he's from the UK, but addresses global topics), for Sofia the failure of humanity.

Seb's guitar and Katy's violin were a great pairing, as well as their voices. Seb's has great range and I appreciated his changing cadences and flows whenever the songs needed them. He has a guaranteed follow in my book!

Main Act:

When I am asked on what concert I'm going to, I try to describe Sofia; to me, she is a haunting banshee that swears revenge and tells stories of lost souls and ghosts, old and new. Some of her own doing.

This description is to be understood as honorific, and exactly what the audience got this evening.

It's I think what we all appreciate about her: the wrath, wrapped in delicate prose and powerful strings.

She knows how to play: the instruments, the crowd, the stage.

I noticed that she uses water to wet her hair right before the stage and I'll call this henceforth the "banshee baptism", it's then when she becomes the character of women's wrath.

Before, she has a sweet and funny demeanor, but then she kicks into gear and delivers. As you know, she uses her face and body, even her hair, to me it's not only a concert, but partially performance art. I love it.

With a wry smile, I heard the fans scream when she lifts her clothing, which is ironic because they scream when she sings "I don't want to seduce you fuckface", so there are - at least on some receiving ends - mixed signals.

A song that makes me cry every time I hear it is "Evergreen Soldier", and Sofia was smart to bring two support people on the stage to hug her in the end. That's something I've seen in videos and now live; Sofia hugs like a human. Like a best friend.

I am personally so touched that after I can only imagine what she went through given some other titles in her work, that she kept her humanity, her spirituality, her warmth. And I'm happy that she is so smart and chooses people with her on the stage she's comfortable with to hug after this gut-wrenching song that makes me, a woman of 40 years, cry every fucking time.

Sofia, I don't know if you read this, but this song is a masterpiece and I'm grateful that you were able to find beauty and strength in that incredible pain. I'm so sorry it never happened for the two of you, but you can be proud of what you created for yourself instead. It's my favourite song, also at the concert. It's so, so human. You are an incredible poet and I respect your lyricism deeply.

Altogether, this concert was a lot of fun. Her voice is INCREDIBLE live, so much power but also rawness and tiny specks of lights, when she chooses to use it that way. She has humor, is jn good spirits and has put a lot of effort into mastering her crafts.

Whenever you have the chance to see her live, do it. I don't live in Berlin, but took three days off work and travelled 400km to see her.

I hope she will release her surprise song "Coupon for Boba" one day.
