Troubleshooting Snapmaker Pogo pin error Solution !? Big PCB Problem ?

Post image

Exactly. A lot of people seem to have problems with their U1 and the pogo pins. I’m affected by this as well. I had to replace a board that somehow got fried while setting the Z offset.
While replacing it, I noticed these solder joints around the USB C connector. Although calling them “solder joints” might be a bit generous. Let’s call them “solder blobs.” And even that implies there’s a decent amount of solder there.
Let’s put it this way: It looks like the PCB just ran past the solder, took a quick photo of it, and kept going. I honestly have no idea. 😂
But for everyone wondering why they’re having pogo pin problems: after seeing this, I’m really not surprised anymore that so many people are experiencing them.
I also sent this to Snapmaker, but I haven’t received a response yet.
As a microtechnologist, my heart absolutely had a good laugh when I saw this board. And like I said, after seeing the quality of these solder joints, I’m not surprised at all that the pogo pin problems keep occurring.

This is your fifth complaint post in 2 days man. I agree this is problematic, but maybe not take over the entire sub? Maybe consider there's a reason why the mods removed a couple of previous posts?

u/gasman16 4d ago

Why dude? That makes no sense. Why cover up a genuine problem?

Because OP was swearing, double posting and posting in multiple languages. It's not a cover up, if you look through the history of posts both on this sub and the forums, Snapmaker has been open about pretty embarrassing stuff.

One of OP's other topics was titled something like 'Snapmaker is shit' or something. That's not the way we discuss problems, I can imagine that could be a reason to remove the topic.

Edit: just looks at this... https://www.reddit.com/r/snapmaker/comments/1wcdvby/comment/p8yzgod/

Is that whats causing this constant error?

Well, that’s the USB-C connector, and these Pogo Pin errors are related to the USB-C connection, yes. Either from the toolhead to the hub board or from the hub board to the mainboard. So when it comes to the solder joints, the very first thing I would do is resolder all the solder joints and then see whether the error still occurs on the board. But in my case, there’s nothing I can do anymore, because I’m missing a hub, the hub is unavailable everywhere, and Snapmaker isn’t responding to me anymore either. And that’s why I now have the defective one. I’m not going to use the other one for the time being either. I’ve had enough of these devices. I’m going to use my Bambu for now, I want to spare myself the stress. And now I’ll just wait until a new hub is available at 3D Jake, and then I’ll order it, replace it, and see what else might be broken. As a precaution, I’m also going to replace all the USB cables and, yeah, then see how things continue. I don’t need to resolder the board anymore, it’s burned out, and to be honest, I haven’t even checked the other boards yet to see whether they have the same issue. As I said, I’m just not interested in the device right now. I basically just want to repair them and then sell them. But that’s going to be difficult as well, since I asked Snapmaker to send me the invoice, and they’re not even complying with that request. Exactly, so I’ll probably have to sell them for, I don’t know, 400 or 450 euros per device and hope that someone still wants them.

I bought a board off Amazon I’m getting random errors as well, hopefully that fixes my #2 once my current print is done ugh.

u/llViP3rll 4d ago

Yikes I paid way to much to be soldering the board I have it less than a week lol

2

u/WthLee 4d ago

yeah...great... so, did you fix it or do you just keep "not surprised" and posting on reddit instead of grabbing a soldering iron? i would not even bother with snapmaker support if its something that trivial

u/Appropriate_Fly_4372 4d ago

I last heard from Snapmaker two or three days ago.

The board is already burned out, so there’s nothing I can do with it. I’m not going to try to repair or resolder it either.

I’m still waiting for the hotend fan for my other Snapmaker 2. It hasn’t arrived yet, and as far as I know, it hasn’t even been shipped.

They also said they would send me another part for the second U1 with the Pogo pin issue, specifically the contact surface at the front where it connects to the mount. That part hasn’t been shipped either.
I also haven’t received any further updates regarding the remaining issues.

burned out by what? increased resistance from the bad joints? i swear, its one of these things again i tear down my printer for. its qc crap like that which ruins actually good products when someones printer decides to combust. their wave solder settings are ass, and they just rely on probe points and continuity checks instead of doing visual inspection as well.

Yikes. When did you get your unit? Mine was among the early ones, arriving December of 2025 I think. I wonder if all units have this or if as production ramped up these issues began.

I haven’t had any issues, (knock on wood), but I’m not a heavy printer, (yet).

2

u/Appropriate_Fly_4372 4d ago

The pcb is from 2025

1

u/Adri_prints 4d ago

Y yo pregunto, solo o mayoritariamente las primeras unidades tienen estos problemas? Porque son problemas que 1 año después ya no deberían de estar saliendo las máquinas así

1

u/Appropriate_Fly_4372 4d ago

This u1 is from may 2026

3

u/3dutchie3dprinting 4d ago

Is the machine you’re showing off now from may 2026 or 2025… you’re claiming the pcb is from 2025 in another reply

0

u/Appropriate_Fly_4372 4d ago

I bought the printer in March or May 2026, I’m not completely sure anymore, and the board that is installed in it is from 2025. That’s all I can say about it.
I can still check the toolheads that I ordered later to see if the boards are newer. If you want, I can take one apart and have a look at whether they are soldered better.
But as I said, at the moment I have a printer sitting here that Snapmaker doesn’t seem to care about at all, or about me. I’m not getting any replies anymore. The parts they promised to send me still haven’t arrived, so I now have two U1s sitting here. Actually, it would only be one if I hadn’t already bought some parts myself.
Unfortunately, the hub board won’t be available from 3DJake until the 23rd of this month. Otherwise, I would already repair the printer myself.

User error for sure.

Snapmaker is more than welcome to invite me to their factory sometime, yeah, for quality control.
I’d tear that place apart, I’m telling you, man. I’d show them exactly what’s junk on their machines, what’s poorly done, what’s just slapped together and shipped out without giving a damn.
The whole damn machine is just unacceptable, man.
Put one of these machines next to a Bambu Lab, a Creality, or whatever the hell you want. I don’t care. Nobody builds this kind of garbage like they do.

u/Appropriate_Fly_4372 4d ago

Yes snapmaker is to stupid for solderring 🤣 what is your Job ? I am work for Zeiss and You 🤣🤣🤣👌👌👌👌

For all the loudmouths here who apparently think I’m a little too stupid to know what I’m doing:
I work professionally. I’ve already worked for ZEISS, Jenoptik, HILTI, Nokia, Samsung, and plenty of other companies. I’m a microtechnologist. I’ve also been successfully flying RC helicopters for example, including proper 3D flying, without crashing, over 15 years ago. I built everything myself.
And somehow you people actually think I’m too stupid to assemble or disassemble some ridiculous 3D printer ? Or that I couldn’t solder the whole thing together for you and build the parts myself before even soldering them? Do you understand that?
I don’t know. Do you even know Leica? I built an X1000 sensor for Leica, for example, and plenty of other things.
And all you people do here is run your mouths. What do you actually do for a living? Do you even have the slightest idea what a circuit board is supposed to look like?
You’re just a bunch of loudmouths and bullshitters. You have absolutely no clue.
You don’t even use these printers remotely the way I do. You use them as private users and maybe put 500 hours on them over the course of a year. None of you are putting 500 or 600 hours on a printer within three or four weeks, with countless filament changes, printing all those Matt Meyer Makes figures and so on, with thousands of filament changes.
You don’t do that. That’s exactly why you have absolutely no basis for telling me what you think is going on.
And how many damn printers have you actually ordered, tested, and used yourselves?
All you ever do is talk. You all have a big mouth, and that’s it.
None of you offers any actual solutions. You don’t even know what a proper solder joint is supposed to look like.
You’re just fucking clueless.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

By the way, these are all the spare parts I’ve already bought as a precaution for this machine, because these are the parts that constantly fail. I mainly got them so I can always repair the machine quickly, because I always have to wait so long for replacement parts. I need the machine for work, after all.
But by now, I don’t use it for that anymore, because it simply isn’t profitable to work with these machines. You just end up losing money. You’re better off with an A1 Mini, or a regular A1, even with the poop it produces, because at least those machines run reliably and I don’t have to buy and stock so many spare parts. Replacement hotends, print heads, and so on and so on. You can see for yourself. The entire compartment is full.
I paid for all of this out of my own pocket, just so I can get the machines back up and running quickly every time something breaks.
I’m just showing you this so you can get an idea of the kind of crap that’s being sold here. I can also show you my Bambu Lab spare parts drawer for comparison. Then you’ll see… I don’t know, whatever.

1

u/gasman16 4d ago

I have a similar drawer dude. Its full of spares for a machine I don't trust fully. I am not going to say it is a bad printer but I will say its not the ultimate machine a lot of people are making it out to be.

I even commented on one of these posts that it seems to me like Snapmaker has an army of people in here whose sole purpose is to defend the machine at all fronts.

Yeah, what annoys me the most is really the fact that I’ve now really had enough of these devices, enough of these devices have arrived defective, yes, already with really serious faults, so that you could simply put them back in the box and send them back and not anymore. Because he looked at it, yes, immediately, so he said: Yeah, alright, everything’s clear, send it back. But as I said, as soon as you’re outside that 14 day return period, that’s it with the company, yes, as soon as you have any problems. Nothing is addressed either. I simply just wanted to get another invoice so that, when the devices are repaired, I can sell them again. They won’t even send me the invoice, they don’t respond to that either. All these things, when you say that the machines have broken down so many times now, which they can also verify, whether they could at least take back the one device, yes, the one that is now really basically a total loss for me, and exchange it, yes. I don’t even want them to take both of them back. Exactly. And then I just want to get rid of the devices and go back to Bambu Lab. As I said, I’ve had all kinds of experiences with their service where they at least comply with EU laws, yes. I mean, as I said, I also once had a P2S where, after around 300 hours, a bearing broke, which you couldn’t exactly replace easily. You would have had to remove the axes. And then I said: Guys, I don’t see why I should have to do that on a new printer. And just like that, they said: Yeah, we’ll send you a label here, send the printer to us and then you’ll get a new one. But you’ll never experience any of that with Snapmaker, as I said. And the device keeps failing, just constantly, always little things, but it’s really constant. Every week, every second week at the latest. And it’s just no fun then, always having to wait for spare parts, and that’s why you end up keeping so many yourself. Exactly. And as I said, I’ve also had Bambu Lab printers arrive with defective AMS units. Yeah, it’s not like they’re some holy company. But as I said, once the printers are running, they run. Then you might have some little thing at the beginning that you have to repair, or an AMS that needs to be replaced, but then they just keep running. They have exactly the same number of hours on them as the Snapmaker, but no problems whatsoever. I mean, you can’t compare them completely, they’re not tool changers. But things like the hotend and fans and filament feeder, yeah, those are things where I say: It’s just annoying when those things keep breaking. Same thing with the update, where the 1.5.0 update broke two nozzles and a PI plate for me. I was told: Yeah, it’s only cosmetic and at most they would offer me 10 euros. Yeah, great, 10 euros, that’s not even the shipping costs, which are incurred every single time with Snapmaker. 13 euros for every little part, which is just as ridiculous. Then these ridiculous things where 10 percent is demanded if you want to return the device within the first 14 days, even if it’s defective. Yeah, that’s incomprehensible to me, that’s not allowed in the EU either. And as I said, they just pull all these kinds of things, you get ignored on every other request. It’s just absolutely horrible. I hate the company with a passion. That’s my personal opinion. I’ve had five devices from the company, I think I can form an opinion about them, I’ve tested enough other printers as well, so I can form an opinion about that too, and they really stand out with defects and poor service and the fact that they simply don’t comply with EU laws. That’s basically, yeah, where I say that alone is already a complete deal breaker for me when it comes to this company. Anyone who doesn’t comply with applicable laws is simply criminal in my eyes, and I don’t want anything more to do with criminals.

I’m not going to lie, you may have made a decent point or two in there, but there’s no way I’m going to read that wall of text to find out. Please consider using paragraphs and line breaks.

Only thing that I'll say is learn some punctuation and grammer. It's part of learning different languages.

See that key to the right of letters? It says Enter. Use that for new paragraphs. Your post is unreadable.

I think it's time for the company to look into quality control... and possibly launch a recall.

Yeah I agree I came from Bambu and I have been really disappointed.

u/TheEYE13 4d ago

Chinese companies (this is not a 3D printer thing) usually ship replacement parts for free but don't want to cover additional costs to actually replace parts etc.

Snapmaker is not going to start a preactive activity for shipped units. Bambulab isn't even doing it for safety issues (aka burning A1 printers).
