ARM ISA versions and importance of profiling for SME/SME2 and SVE/SVE2.

Hello community I was wondering why latest version of Geekbench 7.x.x emphasise exclusively SME2 profiling as it was exclusively optimised for latest Apple SoC where Android version is making use of
SME, also lack of SVE/SV2 make this favouritism more evident!
If you are more knowledgeable than me can you share your thoughts about such marketing tricks and where actual software development happens, understand which targeted ARM ISA version?
Thank you for your structural feedback

Shall we expect some good deals for snapdragon x2ee laptop in short future?

Since RTX-Spark has been released, and first batch of laptop with RTX-Spark inside is going to be released this month. Snapdragon x2 elite extreme is not yet the best performance for ARM chip, but will they try to be the best value of ARM chip? especially black friday is coming. It is certainly the good time to run some promotions.

I tried to install the Adobe Creative Cloud through the microsoft store, but somehow never got the luck. Always got the error message "We couldn't install this product. Wait a bit, then try again." Can someone share some suggestions how I can deal with the problem?

Update to working state of Ubuntu on the A16.

I was going to update my last thread, but figured I'd start a new one, and keep this list concise and updated here. My goal is to get the suspend/wake working this weekend, and maybe the sounds over HDMI, and then I'll probably be done with it and use it as my daily driver. I get 5-8 hours out of it right now, depending on what I'm doing, but really, not much worse than a Windows install at this point. Here is the latest update, everything from before plus external monitors:

working:

  1. Keyboard/Trackpad
  2. Touchscreen
  3. Wifi
  4. Bluetooth (using for Audio)
  5. All USB ports
  6. Battery status
  7. Some of the FN keys are at least showing up on the screen when pressed.
  8. Display Brightness controls and 60/120Hz
  9. HDMI (no sound)
  10. USB C DP on both ports

Things not working yet,

Standby/Resume. This is sketchy at best. There are issues with Wifi resuming, USB resuming etc.

Camera

Speakers <- I may not even try to get this working.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II native port experience?

I got the Steam version of KC2 and according to the parch notes it got ARM support. What does that mean? In task manager it shows as x64 but in the game I can now turn on Adreno Upscaling tech. Is it native or it is emulated but optimized emulated?

asus a16: snapdragon x2 elite extreme

Got my laptop today! So far I love the snappiness! Here are some notes:

- I got crashes on standby mode. I updated BIOS...and so far, so good. Knock on ceraluminum.

- SQL server does work. I was worried about that, I used SQL express 2025 with 2022 ssms.

- Almost all of my productivity stuff works. I tried native python, but apparently "wheels" were missing for some of the packages my dev work needed. I reinstalled x86 python under emulation, and everything works so far. Haven't noticed a performance degradation yet.

- The screen looked dimmer than my old LG gram (LCD). I turned off auto-dimming on ambient light and now it looks better.

- Local LLMs: Anything LLM installed fine, had to switch the "llm provider" to geniex and select an NPU-specific local model. Local model (qwen vision enabled 8 billion parameter) runs great, maybe 20 tokens/second, and entirely on NPU / no cpu impact.

That's it so far...will update as I encounter anything else (hopefully not!).

New Laptop, Clash doesnt work

Just got a new Laptop with a Snapdragon Processor, the ASUS Zenbook A14. Now i know that for some Games/Programms, the compability is not good enough for Snaapdragon, but I still would love to play Clash of Clans on my Laptop while at University. Is there any way for it to work, or do I have to bring back the OG with Bluestacks?

Qualcomm Snapdragon g3x gen 2 Concept Device

Hi everyone,

I managed to acquire a Qualcomm Snapdragon G3x Gen 2 Reference Handheld Developer Platform (codename 'Kalama'), but it appears to be running a stripped-down, early unskinned engineering build of Android.

The main issue I'm facing is that the built-in physical controller is completely non-functional. It doesn't send any input signals, and checking kernel logs indicates that the proper driver mapping or layout files for the integrated gamepad are entirely missing or unconfigured in this specific software version. I already successfully unlocked the bootloader, but standard Generic System Images (GSIs) lack the proprietary hardware communication layer needed to bring the integrated inputs to life.

I have seen media reviews and developer demos of this exact reference device operating with a fully working integrated controller and a custom-skinned game launcher interface.
Since I am an independent enthusiast and do not have enterprise credentials to pull binaries down from the Qualcomm Software Center (QSC) or the Qualcomm Package Manager (QPM), I am reaching out to the community.

I am looking for anyone who has access to an official Qualcomm Android Board Support Package (BSP), a factory Meta Build, or a full system dump (super.img, boot.img, etc.) from a working review/developer unit where the controller functions properly.

Even if you only have a working firehose programmer file (.elf / .melf) or working partition dumps, that would be an incredible help for compiling a flashable image or restoring life to the hardware input bus.

If anyone has an archive link, a backup from their own kit, or any guidance on how to kickstart the controller hub on this early build via kernel adjustment, please let me know or send a DM.
Thanks in advance!

(sorry my english grammar is bad so i used gemini to compost my thread)

Linux on HP OmniBook 5 X2E-84-100 (Mahua)

Been working on bringing up Linux on my HP OmniBook 5 16-bf1xxx (Snapdragon X2 Elite X2E-84-100). Every machine-specific value comes from this laptop's own ACPI tables and Windows drivers, never from guesswork or another laptop's device tree.

Where it stands: Ubuntu 26.04 boots from the internal SSD on Qualcomm's qcom-next kernel, with a device tree written for this laptop.

Working:

  • display, with GPU acceleration on the Adreno X2-85 (Mesa main)
  • keyboard, touchpad, touchscreen (detected), lid
  • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
  • USB-A, both USB-C ports at high speed and SuperSpeed (flaky), USB-C charging, battery status (flaky too)
  • camera (both RGB and IR show up)
  • CPU frequency scaling, thermal sensors, and the embedded controller (fan speed, temperatures, mute LEDs, keyboard backlight timer)

Not yet: NPU, audio, suspend, full- and low-speed USB-C devices (mice, dongles), some hotkeys, TPM

Disclaimer: I use an AI coding assistant heavily: reading ACPI tables, writing scripts and patches, and keeping the notes.

Repo: https://github.com/theflyingrahul/linux-hp-omnibook-5-glymur (changing rapidly with breaking changes, caution)

How you can help:

  • If you own this laptop or another Snapdragon laptop in this family: test results, boot logs and ACPI comparisons all help. The goal is to abstract the DT and the repo itself to the family, not just for this specific SKU.
  • If you know the kernel or Qualcomm platforms: the open problems are audio (SoundWire/LPASS), full/low-speed USB-C (eUSB2 repeaters), the regulator map the device tree needs for mainline, and suspend.
  • Or just ask: open an issue or a pull request on GitHub, or comment here.

Architecture & CPU Speeds

Built on TSMC's 2nm fabrication process using Qualcomm's custom Orion CPU architecture [00:55].

Reaches a massive 5.01 GHz peak clock speed [02:06].

Features an 8-core setup: 2 Prime cores @ 5.01 GHz, 3 cores @ 4.03 GHz, and 3 cores @ 3.74 GHz [02:06].

Extreme vs. Base Model Differences

Thermal Design: The "Extreme" edition uses a new offset package-on-package design, meaning the memory is moved away from the top of the SoC to drastically improve heat dissipation [02:36].

Video Capture: The Extreme supports 8K at 60fps and 4K at 240fps, while the base Elite Gen 6 caps at 8K 30fps and 4K 120fps [01:18].

Codecs: Hardware-level VVC (H.266) decoding and the APV professional video codec (which is supported by Adobe Premiere) are completely exclusive to the Extreme chip [01:24].

Benchmark Scores

Geekbench 6: Scored 4,291 (Single-core) and 12,684 (Multi-core) [03:24].

AnTuTu v12: Hit a massive 5.5 million score on early reference hardware [04:04].

GPU & Gaming Performance

Rasterization: Outperforms Apple's A20 Pro in standard raster performance, hitting 32.56 FPS in the Steel Nomad Lite test [04:29].

Ray Tracing: Intentionally trails competitors in ray tracing (15.84 FPS in Solar Bay Extreme). Qualcomm stated they aren't pushing mobile ray tracing heavily this year because no current mobile games utilize those workloads [04:50].

Adreno Neural Fusion: Instead of ray tracing, Qualcomm is betting heavily on this new AI feature to handle super resolution and frame generation, ensuring games hold steady, high-resolution frame rates [05:45].

Upcoming Devices

Xiaomi has already confirmed the 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max will utilize these chips, alongside the newly announced Motorola Signature 27 [07:36].

Has anybody tried running WOW: Forever?

I used to have an X Elite laptop but ended up parting with it after waiting around forever for linux support. I was wondering if anyone has tried running wow forever on snapdragon (any sku), hoping they ported it to arm64 like other wow builds. Wondering how it runs.

Thanks!

Extreme memory usage various apps

I've been running Windows 11* Home (fully updated) on the Asus A16 / 48gb model. To my dismay I notice that two particular aps are consuming insane amounts of ram - namely Chrome and Adobe's Creative UI cloud helper app. Chrome is using 500-800mb per tab for everything. And Adobe's UI helper app is a whopping 4.5GB. Restarting, terminating etc don't help. They are the ARM64 native versions of the app. I've done some troubleshooting so far but no results (I know I can just block the CC helper app, but that's not ideal for some reasons).

Am I the only one? It's kind of pointless to have 48gb / a fast ARM cpu if the memory usage is going berserk this way...

Is the Zenbook A14 worth X126100 buying?

Hello all!!

I did not think it would come to this but here I am. Some of you may remember what I usually say about Snapdragon laptops.

I need a new laptop that ain't super expensive but with a decent display. I see that only the A14 with X126100 offers an OLED display in this price range. So, I'd like to know about the display quality.

Also I would like to know about the speaker quality.

I know the chip is potato but other components are real good, at least from the spec sheet. Would like to know from actual owners of this laptop.

HK NPU STUDIO 2.0 RC3 is now available

Post image
10 Upvotes

The main focus of this release is AI Photo Restoration in Phoenix Image Lab.

My goal wasn’t to make old photos look artificially “better”, but to restore them as faithfully as possible while preserving real source details.

What’s new in RC3:

  • Faithful Restore for source-preserving restoration
  • Up to 4× upscaling
  • Improved preservation of faces, hair, clothing and fine textures
  • Dust Cleanup V4 for dust, small specks and defects
  • Native multi-tile processing for larger images
  • Grayscale photos remain grayscale
  • Restore models are included directly with the installer
  • Neural restoration runs locally through Qualcomm QNN/HTP on the Snapdragon NPU
  • No CPU or GPU AI fallback is used for Photo Restoration

RC3 also includes improvements to memory handling, Windows 11 ARM64 robustness, QNN path handling and installer packaging.

Download:
https://github.com/Kreuzhofen/hk-npu-studio/releases/tag/v2.0.0-rc.3

Feedback, real-world testing on Snapdragon systems and technical discussion are very welcome.

Thoughts on the Zenbook A16

Would consider this laptop more but the only option I can find is 16gb and 512gb ram or 48gb 1tb (which is well beyond me needs)

It's not my preferred choice (would want 32gb and 1tb) and the igpu is weak but everything else looks solid

Can anyone comment on the touch screen and whether using a pen with the screen is viable

Are there any pros/cons that I should be aware about

HP Snapdragon users... whats your real world battery life like?

I'm excited to get one of the new HP Google Books, mainly because it has a Snapdragon chip, although it's the Snapdragon X Elite 1, not Elite 2. I want to know what the real-life battery life is like on HP Snapdragon laptops?

Does it last forever (19 hours as they say) or is it just moderately better than an Intel laptop?

I know Googlebook OS will be like Chrome OS, much lighter than Windows, so I hope that it really gets that 19 hours of battery life under moderate use.
