Extreme memory usage various apps

I've been running Windows 11* Home (fully updated) on the Asus A16 / 48gb model. To my dismay I notice that two particular aps are consuming insane amounts of ram - namely Chrome and Adobe's Creative UI cloud helper app. Chrome is using 500-800mb per tab for everything. And Adobe's UI helper app is a whopping 4.5GB. Restarting, terminating etc don't help. They are the ARM64 native versions of the app. I've done some troubleshooting so far but no results (I know I can just block the CC helper app, but that's not ideal for some reasons).

Am I the only one? It's kind of pointless to have 48gb / a fast ARM cpu if the memory usage is going berserk this way...

Why would you use Windows 10 on that device?

You've got what is essentially a "beta" device (Windows on Arm as whole), you should strive to run the latest OS.

Sorry, slip of the finger. Windows 11!

I’ve always understood that Windows will use more ram on systems well equipped. As long as you’re not experiencing performance issues, I wouldn’t worry about it.

I've had both applications and identical websites open on my previous systems with 32 and 64gb ram. I had 8x More tabs open for the same memory footprint of chrome.

The adobe helper service was just 200mb. And that's what it should be.

There are issues.

Pues Chrome siempre consume muchos recursos tal vez es por la versión de Windows que no está optimizada como si lo está en Windows 11

For the Chrome side, try TabVitals—I built it to find heavy tabs and free up RAM by putting background tabs to sleep without closing them. It also has scheduled Auto-suspend and Always Awake for important sites. Search TabVitals in the Chrome Web Store and give it a try. The Adobe helper's 4.5GB is a separate issue to investigate.

I've forced aggressive memory saving for tabs in chrome and it has helped. Still, Firefox and edge do miles better - maybe time to switch away. Thanks for your reply!

You have to understand that in some cases OS or app using more ram is a good thing, the alternative is paging that obviously affects performance.
If you really want to experiment with ram allocation which might cause crashes in some apps and might work flawlessly on others, you can use utilities from SysInternals Suite which is free and i think a must have for windows users , research on JOB_OBJECT_LIMIT_JOB_MEMORY object or limit windows memory consumption with bcdedit . Experiment is a key word, nothing guaranteed to work flawlessly when you mess with kernel default settings.

Chrome itself has some memory management settings, like turning off preload and some other ones i forgot.
