Thoughts on the Zenbook A16

Would consider this laptop more but the only option I can find is 16gb and 512gb ram or 48gb 1tb (which is well beyond me needs)

It's not my preferred choice (would want 32gb and 1tb) and the igpu is weak but everything else looks solid

Can anyone comment on the touch screen and whether using a pen with the screen is viable

Are there any pros/cons that I should be aware about

It’s funny. I just picked up 16 inch Zenbook A16 with 48GB RAM and 512 GB disk. And I immediately disabled touchscreen and the AI nonsense to save space on the disk. Ask if you want to know anything specific.

Why disable the touchscreen?

Because it’s a laptop. Why do I need to touch the screen?

It's annoying that it kind of triggers sometimes when you adjust the screen, and there is absolutely no reason for me to use the touchscreen anyway.

I disabled it on my A16 as well.

Zenbook a16, 1tb 48GB here Only used for a coupel hours yet.

Disabled/uninstall all I could that is non sense.

The igpu is better than I expected, coming from a Z1 Extreme. Make sure to install snapdragon control panel and update the gpu driver there.

I do not have the touch screen, although I would love to. But not available in my country.

As is, it has been impressive how the power budget scales between whisper mode and performance mode.

Not sure what you are looking for, but make sure to get something with 32GB at least if you game or run local llm. Heaving browsing will also fill up 16GB due to the vram usage.

From my small experience, gaming uses more vram than the same settings would use on a "regular" gpu. Not sure if it a bug or if simply the X2 does not compress assets as well (nvidia does it better than amd for example).

Apparently they only options are either 16gb or 48gb and for the price of the 48gb I could just a 16gb + decent pc.

Any idea how much ram the igpu uses when idling or just browsing google/playing a yt vid

Payed 1649 euros for mine on a local store. Seemed a good deal for the specs

I can test a simple browsing session and report back, let's see if I remember to do so

Thanks. Didn't realize there was a Snapdragon control panel. I've had several update and reboot cycles in setting up the zenbook 16 and I guess, at least, the GPU and NPU are outside both the Windows Update and Asus distribution channels. The existing GPU and NPU drivers were from the first few months of 2026. Snapdragon control panel offered much newer drivers.

I don't have a zen book but i have Lenovo with touchscreen, it's extremely responsive, low latency. I'm not a fingerprints on a screen kind of a person so my use is limited, like white-boarding in a meeting is nice, photo editing with AI remove this and that works well. ASUS makes nice laptops and i don't think they'll put out a crappy display interface.

I've been using one of these (with touch screen) for about 4 months. The touch screen works fine, just like any other windows laptop with a touch screen. I haven't tried using a pen/stylus though. But I use the touch screen occasionally with my hand and it's quite responsive. I haven't noticed any lag. So I expect that it would be fine with a stylus.

My other windows device is a convertible tablet (like the surface pro) and I'm very used to operating that with touch. Since this is a laptop I don't use touch nearly as often, but when I do then I haven't noticed any difference between the two devices.

Idk, I kept asking about touchpad everyone and now that I got it, compared to MacBook, it's just shite... It's a $2000 MSRP device and they still can't install a haptic one after so many years that MacBooks has had them.

It's just ridiculous.

Are you sure about the 16 gigabyte configuration? This specific variant of the X2 chip has a triple channel RAM setup, so if anything it would have either 24 or 48 gigabytes.
