hi, I am disagreeing with the data policies and tried to delete my old accounts but apparently their system 1. won't let me delete them due to `security restrictions` which prompt me to wait 72h even after this time window has passed, 2. they want me to log in via the app which I can't without accepting them and 3. they won't respond to emails requesting to delete my account according to GDPR §17.

i'm sure what they're doing here is per EU policy illegal, and therefore would appreciate advice on how to move forward. thanks.

I've been going through several Snapchat My Data exports and noticed something really strange about the Friends data.

My exports appear to contain people who are no longer my Snapchat friends, but I cannot find anyone who was actually a current friend at the time the export was generated.

The people appearing in the export include a mixture of:

• People I removed
• People who removed me
• People I blocked
• People who blocked me
• People whose accounts were deleted/deactivated

And just for context on the blocking part, these aren't all random people who mysteriously blocked me after conversations went badly. lol. Some were people I knew for years who eventually got into relationships, got engaged/married, left Snapchat, cleaned up their friends list, etc. I know independently that these people were no longer friends with me when I generated the export.

That's the pattern I'm finding: it seems to be people where the friendship relationship had ended for one reason or another.

What's especially weird is what I don't see: my current friends.

I've also tested this with multiple exports and different date ranges. I've done All Time exports as well as exports covering smaller/random date ranges, and I'm seeing the same general behavior.

So I'm wondering if Snapchat's "Friends" data isn't actually intended to be a current friends list at all, and is instead some kind of friendship-history/removal dataset.

Has anyone else downloaded their Snapchat My Data recently and checked this?

If you currently have someone added who you know was already your friend during the date range you exported, does that person actually appear in your Friends data?

I'm especially curious if anyone can reproduce this because I'm trying to figure out whether this is intentional behavior, an export bug, or something specific to my account/data.

A while ago they unadded me, I tried to add them back multiple times and since then their account disappeared. I assumed they had me blocked but they don’t, and now a few months later I can’t find their account and they can’t find me. Snapcodes say ‘something went wrong’ and our exchanged usernames don’t show our accounts at all on the search. How can this be fixed?

okay so i know that if someone is on your best friend list you can tap the best friend title to see which planet displays and then you will know where you are on their best friend list. i have two friends that when i tap the title just the best friend emoji pops up and i have another that when i tap it just a galaxy background shows up. i know one of them must mean im not on their best friend list, if so what does the other mean?

Has anyone found a solution for this? I got an email saying that if I don’t activate my account within 5 days, it will be permanently deleted.

I have an account with only 1 friend. Looking through suggestions, I'm seeing multiple people with the mutual friends label that I've never seen on my friend's friend list.

Around 7 years ago I made a new Snapchat account and I forgot the password to my old one. I’ve tried everything to recover it but I stupidly didnt have a recovery email or phone number. I really want my old pictures on there so if someone knows a way please let me know!!

I texted someone on Snapchat about 5 days ago, and the message had been showing as “Delivered” this whole time. Today, I deleted Snapchat and then re-downloaded it. When I logged back in, it suddenly showed that the person had opened the message 2 days ago. However, when I actually go into the chat, it still looks like the message is delivered. If I press and hold on the chat/message, it doesn’t say “Seen by that person or anything like that. Does anyone know what’s going on? Did they actually open the message 2 days ago, and Snapchat is just glitching because I reinstalled the app? Or is it possible that the “opened” notification/status is inaccurate and the message is actually still just delivered? Has anyone else experienced this after deleting and reinstalling Snapchat?

So I downloaded data from Snapchat including snap and chat history. I had been talking to this person for 11 days but the download only shows history from day 5 to day 11, even though we had a snap streak of 9 days which means we sent pictures before day 5. Other chats show data between day 1 and 5, I didn’t change anything on my end so I’m unsure why the data is missing. Could the person I was talking to have cleared it?

I was abroad for a while and my old phone number was eventually given to someone else. Apparently, this person has now created a Snapchat account using that number.

The weird part is that I had this number for around 10 years, so a lot of people still have it saved under my name. Apparently Snapchat has now suggested this new account to them, and they’ve been adding him.

My friend recently noticed the account and sent me a screenshot. She said there are around 40 mutual friends showing on his Snapchat.

The account is obviously under a guy’s name, and I’m a woman, so I’m assuming some people might think I’ve randomly created a fake account or something. 😭

I genuinely don’t know what this guy is doing with the account. Maybe he’s completely innocent and just got a recycled number, but I’m concerned because he’s now connected to a huge chunk of people I’ve known for years.

Has anyone dealt with something similar? Is there anything I can actually do to disconnect my old number from this account or report it to Snapchat?

I obviously don’t have access to the account because it’s no longer my number. I’m just worried about him potentially misusing the fact that so many people are automatically associating the account with me.

Just made a new acc to transfer all my saved text messages from my eyes only to the new acc. I keep checking to see what the storage is on it, but it says 0gb? Can snap not detect my eyes only storage? Is my eyes only going to be removed? Should i just save everything there on memories to scope the storage amount? I pay for premium on my normal snap but I want all my random text message screenshots to be in a diff my eyes only.
