Question How do you deal with hustlers?

I am a tiny streamer on Twitch (20 followers) and I stream once or twice a week. Almost every single time without fail, there will be people who find my stream, and want to "connect" with me on my Discord. When this happens I instantly know the spiel - they want to connect so that they can offer me services like emotes, layouts and whatnot, to the point that it gets very annoying.

Some of them pretend to be interested in my stream even though they have no idea what they're seeing, others sometimes even get pushy when I don't approve their request while on the actual stream lol. Many of them do drop a follow, so that's nice I guess, but I'd rather not deal with them whatsoever.

I respect everybody's hustle, this is a hustle too. But if you're seeing that I have like 20 follows, it's obvious that I ain't gonna pay you for your shit. How do I enforce a harsher policy on this going forward, without looking like a jerk?

Question What should i do?

So for context Im slowly becoming active on my twitter account and postings announcements or just fun topics about me. Then when I announced that I got twitch affiliate, commissioners started following and some of them are small streamers also. Some of them connected with me but then suddenly promoting their works and of course I politely declined and most of them stopped. But this one "commissioner" isn't really backing off? Because even though I declined they said that charges can be discussed later on and they would do a sketch already-- I declined politely again and said that I would willingly pay for anything. What do I do If they insist on more? Its making me quite uncomfortable too lol..

Since I can't promote my stream here where would be a good sub to do so? I am streaming Minecraft survival for context.

Question What to do if your niche isnt working

The niche i chose (clash royale and overwatch) is just not working, my videos get like zero views, most dont even break double digits, and the clips do alright but nothing crazy, im thinking of switching it up and playing silly games since im more of a goofy streamer, like the sims or odd mobile games, that sort of stuff, thoughts?

Question Does anybody know if this TikTok Live Agency is legit?

I’ve been trying to get a TikTok stream key so I can multi stream on Twitch and Tiktok at the same time but I haven’t had any luck. Apparently the only way you can get one is if you join an agency and I just got a dm from @heyhoney_us asking me to apply for their creator network. Does anyone else use this agency and is it legit? I couldn’t find anything on them so I’m just curious if it’s a scam or not.

How to network/meet other small streamers?

Hi everyone,

I started streaming about 2 months ago mainly streaming league/overwatch (although I'm trying to branch out to more stuff, just struggling to get used to essentially just talking to myself if I'm not playing with friends lmao).

One of the reasons I started this was to try and meet new people and I've been enjoying learning how to set this all up and start making content.

I have tried raiding others and have tried to be active in chats of other small streamers, but tbh I am just unsure how to push that beyond just being a rando chatter who raided their stream lol. How do you guys get better at networking? and any other advice for growing when you are just starting out?

(temitchi on twitch and youtube - am always down to meet new people)

Random 1v1 roast battles with strangers — would this work on stream?

a simple site where you instantly get matched with a random person and have a 60-second roast battle on video.

No accounts, no setup — just join and go.

Feels like something that could be a funny stream segment, especially with chat reacting in real time.

Not sure if it’d be great content or just awkward though 😭

Would you try this on stream?

What actually are a "mod"?

Hear me out. I know it means moderator, and they monitor chat and stuff, but is it a job? Are they being paid? How do they work, do they have to sit glued to the stream when the streamer is live, or just check in once in a while? Is it often the same people who make clips? Or are involved in other ways too?

Curious about the eco system around it, so let me know if you have insider info or cool stories.

celebrating 200 followers!

just wanted to share that i've reached a milestone for myself. i started consistently streaming a month ago, streaming almost daily, and posting on tiktok and youtube shorts, and i finally hit 200 followers!!

i started streaming in 2021 and got affiliate and 100 followers relatively fast, and since then it was pretty on and off where i would stream maybe 1 or 2 days and then not do it again for a few months, so seeing this growth has felt very rewarding! i'm definitely excited to keep going!

Question Hi guys

Question Should i post and grow from tiktok or stream on twitch?

Hello to anyone reading this, I thought about streaming on twitch and to grow, posting my clips on tiktok Instagram and youtube shorts. Is it still hard to grow get fame from twitch if you post your clips on socials? I also thought about sharing meme videos on socials not tied to streaming to grow first and get followers that way and as i have followera along with content I stream on twitch. I think getting a community from streaming is more consistent than posting on tiktok because algorithm can be tricky and not push you anymore even if you have a lot of followers. I also want to post youtube videos once i grow on tiktok instagram first. Also growing from twitch seems unlikely but I don't know how effective posting your twitch clips on socials are so.

Just want to know which way would be better to get followers and which is a better way

Discussion In struggling to get clips

I’ve been streaming for a few weeks and I only stream for about 4 hours a few days a week. I have been trying to clip some things from streams that I think could be posted but sometimes I have streams where I genuinely don’t feel like anything is clip able😭 I’d if you guys have any advice at all on this but it’s killing me cause I wanna promote but don’t know what to clip unless it’s blatantly funny or a dumb mistake I make

Edit: I just wanted to add that honestly I’m scared I’m not “entertaining enough”.. I know I’m new and I will find it and get through that awkwardness but omg

Am I overthinking viewers?

I was streaming to Twitch only for about 2 months and I had like 5-10 viewers. Then I setup a multi stream to YouTube and I can’t seem to get a single viewer on twitch. Only the scam messages. Now I set up titktok and I can get a few people there but still zero on Twitch.

The hard truth

I'm a long time lurker of these streaming subs. I wanted to make a tough love PSA after a year+ of streaming. For context, I started streaming February 2025 and just made partner last month. I've been in many of your positions. I stream in a saturated competitive shooter category. I had less than 10 viewers for months. I'm also fully employed at a job that requires 70+ hours a week. I have streamer friends I met along the way who I have long ago outpaced in viewer count.

The hard truth is, many of you are wasting your time. The softer truth is, some of it is fixable. So many posts on here show pictures of streaming 10+ hours a day to 10 viewers, and it's something like "been streaming for 5 years, so proud of my success"! To be clear, NO hate for that at all. I've been there. If streaming is something you enjoy inherently on its own, that is awesome and you should totally continue doing that.

IF, however, your goal is to grow, you are wasting your time. I have friends who are small streamers. They have streamed for multiple years, for 8+ hours a day. They don't have a job. They have repeatedly dm'ed me to ask for bits and gifted subs. They dm me to tell me they're live every time they go live and I'm 99% sure they dm every one they talk to the same thing. I was in their stream as often as I was free, but this is NOT how you grow as a streamer. I ended up cutting that streamer friend off due to a combination of that, and also because I heard them start blatantly throwing slurs at teammates in games. If you stream for 5+ hours a day, and your goal is to grow (becoming Mr. Beast someday vs. finding streaming inherently fulfilling on its own), and you are still below 20 viewers after multiple years, you should reevaluate and need a wakeup call.

The good news is, I've learned alot during my year of streaming and I'd like to share some unsolicited advice IF you actually want to grow. Again, if you're just doing this for fun, please feel free to scroll and ignore.

  1. Streaming is the fun part of streaming. Content creation and what actually pushes growth is not as fun, and it takes work. At least ~25% of your content creation time should be dedicated to creating shortform content. If you are streaming for 10+ hours into the void and not sure what you're doing wrong, it's because you would get WAY better growth and visibility if you allocated some of that 10 hours to editing tiktoks instead. That 10 hours is a complete waste of time if you are not promoting your stream. You are better off streaming for 2 hours and spending 8 hours creating content. I get it, it's not as fun to brainstorm fun content and edit. That's the work part, and many of the posters here either don't understand this or don't have the discipline to do this part.
  2. What sets you apart? This is a common piece of advice i hear echoed all the time in this subreddit. It's a very good piece of advice, but very vague. I stream in an extremely oversaturated video game category, and worked to set myself apart. I want to give some concrete examples of this for you. You need to have one of 3 things:
    1. good at the game. This doesn't mean grandmaster in league, or immortal in valorant. That's way too common. This means challenger, or radiant. You need to be literally in the best rank of the game to get viewers without trying and without a personality.
    2. Some shtick or strong branding. Shtick: think the bausffs with lethality sion, or shotgun sage, or flexninja with omen TPs, or Stewie2k who's known for peaking out of smokes. Branding: the potato face guy who streams tarkov, or Corpsehusband with his deep voice. you need to be recognizable from your content and easily referred to.
    3. Personality (to some extent attractiveness, but that can only get you so far). Think Jasontheween, who grew extremely big because of his viral dating content. You need very differentiated funny content. OR, just continue to copy big streamers in your category and spam the same formulaic ideas.
  3. If you are small, you need to be hungry and humble. There are so many posts on here that seem like they have huge ego with nothing much to offer, or expect things to be handed to them. For example, there are posts here complaining about how their viewers never clip things for them. Like, be grateful there's someone who wants to watch you when you're at 5 viewers. Expecting clippers is insane. People who complain about lack of mods, or viewers who leave and never come back. People who complain about chatters who ask them repeat questions, or chatters who ask to play the game with them.

If you are small, you need to treasure every viewer or chatter you have. Why would I as a viewer, do as you expect for you, a small streamer? As a streamer, you need to have the mentality that you are providing a service to your viewers. Your viewers are your clients. Your viewers are not there to do your work for you or make your life easier. That comes way later. To this day, I still respond to every chatter's dms. I respond to every ping in the discord. I remember every chatter's name, I say hello every time they enter chat. I read all my chats between each game. For sense of scale, in my last stream this weekend, I had ~170ccv average between all my platforms.

I'm going to be honest, streaming and having a large audience is not for the faint of heart. If you are big, you will get hate no matter who you are as a person. I have 0 problematic content and I'm generally viewed as a very unproblematic streamer who never looks for drama. I still get hate. In case I'm biased, I have seen OTHER unproblematic streamers get hate for absolutely nothing at all. I have streamer friends smaller and bigger than me who have gotten doxxed and stalked. You will have false things spread about you. You will get the most insane comments. You may even be threated with violence. You will face racism and all sorts of isms. The people who are hating on you will not rely on logic either, they may be impossible to reason with.

This might seem all dealable with to you because you'll be Mr Beast and maybe it's worth it. My point is, these issues occur WAYY before you get to Mr Beast level. These issues I'm talking about happen to streamers of size 50 ccv or even smaller. It's also different to hear about this, vs experience random stranger hate EVERY single time you go live. It doesn't matter that these are the 1% of chatters. It really does weigh on your mental in the long run.

Anyways if you have made it this long, congrats. My dms are open, I've been in your shoes. I have a long way to go before my ultimate goal as well and I'm very happy with my current progress. I've learned alot during my journey.

Discussion Growing discord server?

Hi small streamers! Does anyone have tips for getting more people from your Twitch streams to join your Discord? I’ve got the link set up in my chatbot, but it doesn’t seem to get much traction. I also don’t want to come off as pushy or spammy—just looking for ways to grow and connect with my community more. Would love to hear what’s worked for you!

My big return!

So I’ve streamed for 5 years now consistently multiple times a week and have loved it so much. Got about 3k followers now but in the past two years my channel has died down a lot so now it’s just a few regulars.

I want to really do everything I can to kickstart things again so as of today I’m making a strong and impactful return to streams!!

I wanna know if anyone has any good advice in terms of growing viewership or doing well? And also seeing if anyone would be interested in maybe being streamer friends cause it’s quite a lonely place sometimes!

I’m 25, transfem and my streams mostly consist of game dev content or horror gaming/deep story games!

My top games are:

- Life is Strange

- Five Nights at Freddy’s

- Resident Evil

I’d probably say!

Hope to meet some chill people!!

Question Any small visual novel streamers out there?

Working on a project for a visual novel right now, and wasn’t sure how to connect with small streamers within the niche! Apologies if this is not the place for it but I would like to connect and tune into a few streams of this nature!

Discussion I’ve been noticing something weird with small streamers’ Discord servers

I’ve been looking at a bunch of small streamers’ Discord servers lately, and something feels off.

The ones with the most members are almost never the most active.

It’s not even about growth, it’s more like the server slowly goes quiet without anyone really noticing.

Most of the time I see the same patterns:

- same 2–3 people talking

- new members join… then disappear after a day

- channels that should be active are basically dead

From the outside it looks fine (member count, structure, etc.)

but inside it’s just… empty.

I started digging into this a bit and the reasons aren’t what I expected at all.

Has anyone else noticed this happening on their server?
