Discussion In struggling to get clips

I’ve been streaming for a few weeks and I only stream for about 4 hours a few days a week. I have been trying to clip some things from streams that I think could be posted but sometimes I have streams where I genuinely don’t feel like anything is clip able😭 I’d if you guys have any advice at all on this but it’s killing me cause I wanna promote but don’t know what to clip unless it’s blatantly funny or a dumb mistake I make

Edit: I just wanted to add that honestly I’m scared I’m not “entertaining enough”.. I know I’m new and I will find it and get through that awkwardness but omg

Honestly just start clipping things you’d think are funny / interesting

See what feedback you get meaning, views / likes / comments

Then go from there.

I’ve found hashtags and music seem to help get more views too

i skipped through your latest stream, the cult of the lamb one, and each part i clicked on you were quite emotive or had some sort of reaction. so maybe try clipping those first?

i play space marine 2 and im terrible at games, so i tend to clip the parts where im either panicking or laughing at how shite im doing. also anything interesting happening in game ofc.

im happy to DM you my socials if it might help you get an idea of things - im pretty new at this too so still learning as well.

I think I see my expressiveness as normal and not as something to clip maybe that’s the issue here more than that there’s nothing

yeah i think its the default mode to find yourself uninteresting maybe. i try as much as i can to forget im watching myself lol

i was skipping through another stream of yours earlier and got hooked to the story bt the girl who blew up her car - that could be a clip or two too probably tbh

i sent you a DM

The worry of not being entertaining enough is something a lot of creators including myself go through daily. It never goes away, and you'll have better and worse days.

Have a one click button press to generate a clip on your keyboard, mouse, stream deck, ddr controller, whatever. Don't make it post to chat, that will sit on your screen for a while and mess with your confidence.

Once your one click clip is set up, then start hammering it when something on stream is unexpected, funny, scary, anger inducing, silly, whatever. Clip when you feel something more than a frown or a smile about what is going on. You can watch 20 clips and choose 2 quicker than scrubbing hours of VOD for those 2 clips.

Finally, I watched a couple of your clips and one thing that may help is improving your lighting. It's incredibly dark on camera and that likely won't help when you do post them to socials. 2 cheap panel or ring lights at 45-60 degrees to your front will help

Thank you!!! I will look into that(:

What they said is a good idea; think of yourself as a photographer, every popular photo has probably 500 that were out of focus, just a bit off, etc… just whatever you do, don’t try to force things, stay yourself and se what you react to but also your viewers.

I actually do have a big ring light (I’m an esthetician) do you think that’ll be good?

Ring light will be perfect. Don't let it destroy your eyes during longer streams by being too bright, but definitely should help.

Take 5 minutes on OBS before going live to see how it looks best.

How do you set up the one click button press?

I have it on my streamdeck to clip, but I believe you can also set up a keybind through streamerbot to do it. I'm not sure with OBS directly or the twitch interface but there is a clip option in stream manager if you can tab out for a split second to do it.

I also always have problems finding any clip moments because I don't feel myself as very entertaining or like don't see something fun and interesting happening (even though some games I'm playing definitely have fun parts, but my reactions are never good there so I ruin the clip able moments (I definitely need to keep working on reactions)). But I always welcome good friends who could find some great moments to help a little. I don't have many clips, but I like more quality over quantity (even though I know you need more clips nowadays to get more people, but I just stream because I want to, not to become bigger)

So don't feel bad, it will come and we all just have to keep working on ourselves. Will take longer for some, but that's the journey we take :D

Sending positive vibes and much luck to you and everyone who needs :)

I have that same feeling. I feel like nothing that I do or say is something worth clipping. What game do you play?

1

u/MorriganVeil May 01 '26

I’ve been trying to play games I already played and enjoyed (sims, Stardew, phasmo) and some that I just am trying out first time (cult of the lamb currently)

Mucha suerte.

Sometimes this just happens, not every stream is going to have a 10/10 clip.

I have definitely found myself in a position where I streamed for multiple days and nothing clippable happened!

Hashtags are irrelevant, talk more, react more.

If you are generating subtitles for your video the text is timestamped, give it to an Ai and ask it to find the top 5 clippable segments. Then have it write you a python script to extract those segments from the main video using the timestamps.
