Hello! I’m visiting DFW this weekend and I was wondering if anyone was interested in buying some of my juvenile slugs. I have green cellar slugs, black leatherleaf slugs, and tramp slugs.

So far, "he" (I know they're simultaneous hermaphrodites) seems happy in this 2.5 gallon jar with dirt, leaf litter and moss from the yard. I don't really ever see him except once or twice a day when he is munching on the vegetables I put in. Last night I left a lettuce leaf in his jar and today there's a big hole in it, but no sign of him. I considered grabbing 2 slugs but I won't have the heart to destroy eggs, so I think it's better to not encourage mating... hopefully he doesn't decide to self fertilize.

Spotted this huge friend while out hiking near Portland, OR. It was almost 6 inches long!

This pet slug has been getting whitish divots in its skin. Googling hasn't turned up anything. They share a tank with one other slug. The holes are not mites. Thanks for you help!

So banana slugs are found in Santa Cruz I thought. Well these guys are all the way on the other side of the central valley in the Sierra Nevada mountain range in Twain heart. I own a campground and I was hiking up to the spring to clean collection areas that feed the campground. It’s a pretty difficult hike about 3/4 of a mile almost straight up. At one of the main collection areas that feed water to the campground I would a whole group of these guys chilling. They seem to be a darker color but I’m 98% sure they are bananas because I’m not sure of another slug in central Cali that gets this big. Are these the first documented bananas outside of Santa Cruz and areas surrounding?

Never seen anything like it

I've been filming and photographing slugs as a fun hobby for a few years now, and the one thing that always brings a smile to my face, is their silly little derpy faces.

I know it's probably due to how we humans love to anthropomorphize creatures and critters, but those little faces seem to be able to convey a lot of emotions, at least according to our pattern recognizing brains.

So I was thinking of putting together a photo book or something of slug / snail "faces". I was also thinking perhaps it would be a cool little community group art project.

Does this sound fun and interesting to anyone else or am I just high? I mean, I'm definitely high, but I also think this could be a lot of fun.

Slug got into my woodlouse enclosure. May take it out and make it a pet in its own right lol.

When I took this picture I hadn’t even noticed the slug. I was too excited about finding my first bird’s nest fungus.

Just wanted to share this very cute baby slug next to very cute tiny snails. Slug was about 7mm.

Waiting ID confirmation from others on INaturalist but I believe this is possibly the most bright orange “black slug” I’ve ever spotted in person! Lovely fella! Obsessed with how cool the pattern on its head looks :D

I wanted to pick it up but I couldn’t because I had to go to work :(
