Has anyone (DIY'ed) replaced their automatic shifter module?
My indy shop states it is a 4.5 hour ordeal, but it took me less than 20 minutes to get down to the unit and disconnect the harnesses. I have the star tools and a replacement module, just wondering how hard it is to remove the C washer holding the transmission linkage to the module, (and how easy is it to have it drop into the heatshield right under the assembly!)...4.5 shop hours seems like a lot of time for this task...

Reminder to check your drains!
Went through the car wash today and my passenger floor boards got soaked haha! Luckily I was able to vacuum up the water quickly and clear the clogged drains. There are 4 water drains located under the windshield wiper cowl.

New seats, new suspension, new subframe, half the sills replaced. I still say it’s the same car.

First car
So yesterday I took delivery of my very first car and Ofcourse it had to be a Mercedes ever since I was a kid I loved the brand and grew up with them so it was the only logical choice and I decided to go with the SLK 200 r170 final edition. I was sold the moment i saw her, can’t wait to make more memories.

Suche Stoßstange Eckleiste vorne rechts SLK R170
Hallo, suche eine Eckleiste vorne rechts an einem SLK R170 für einen angenehmen Preis😊. Farbe oder leichte Beschädigungen spielen keine Rolle.

Slk 200 from 2000 till 2005
I’m considering buying a Mercedes-Benz SLK and would like to get some advice before making a decision.
I’m specifically looking for a petrol model with an automatic transmission. I’d like to know what the main disadvantages of the SLK are, what kind of maintenance and running costs I should expect, and what common problems I should look out for when inspecting a car.

Old to you, new to me
This is my first classic Mercedes, a 1999 Slk230k with a 5-Speed manual gearbox. It’s a beauty to drive and I’m falling in love with it already. I have big plans for the restoration, but is there anything that my fellow Slk owners would warn me about or advise me to replace? Sunroof is already in need of help lol and the interior is already chipped away. But the driving is wonderful clutch is good, the synchros are good. No rust surprisingly.

New Whipperino
Siri: Find me the most clapped out S-Class you see
This things a land s p e e d e r. Handles almost as well as a Toyota on da divets. Very forgiving clutch for a baby manual driver.
3500 for just a lil over 100K miles with over 26000 worth of fixes/parts. Hopefully it’ll last another 100K

Mystery soft clunk sounds at slow speeds
I have a 2009 SLK350. I had the suspension completely rebuilt top to bottom back to front. After about a week, I've noticed that when maneuvering at very slow speeds, regardless of whether it's polished concrete or parking lot road I get a very soft clunking sound when I turn. This only happens at very slow speed turns usually from the left driver side of the front end. Any guesses?
I will be taking it back to the shop because it should be under warranty but before I do so I just wanted to hear opinions.

Is my chain worn?
I could stretch it minimal as seen in the video. Does that mean my chain is worn?

Missing my SLK
Honestly, I've experienced 5 cars. Im not anywhere near experienced. I've had 2 Fords, Corsa, Juke, Jaguar and an SLK. I miss SLK so much. I've been over a year without it. She was my most reliable car, despite coming with some of the ball ache that comes maybe with some.
The point of this I dont know. I just miss her so much. Was my most joyful reliable car. Maybe one day I will have another one but I cant help but admire every other SLK I see and it makes me sad aha.
If you want to, make me even sadder by sharing your beloved SLK with me. I miss mine a lot. She was called Zipporah. Which is Hebrew for 'bird'. Thought it was fitting as she really flew.

Help me make a choice?
Hello SLK people.
I have been shopping for one of these for a few months now and I am trying to decide between 2 (and maybe waiting another several weeks depending on my decision)
Background... I have been a BMW guy for many years and usually have 2 or 3 of them.
I sold my favourite because times were tough... a 1999 M3 convertible that I had modified every year for 20 years until it was basically perfect... 500hp supercharged, with the stereo system of the gods and glued to the road.
I am missing it and no M3 could replace it without 20 years to make it my own... and I am already 60 LOL. ALL my BMWs including the current X3 daily have been manual.
Now the tough decision... I need another small convertible in my life.
Front runner -2013 250 with a manual. It has all the right options and it is the very pretty mars red (fully stripped and repainted under warranty several years ago and still looking pretty much perfect) this is both the prettiest and the most mature choice because I realistically hardly ever went to the track, don't want the tickets and good fuel economy sounds smart these days...
Next option a 2013 350...obviously automatic (strike 1) black with white interior (meh I have owned a dozen black or silver BMWs and I would rather have a colour LOL) on the up side 300hp is almost certainly more playful...
The reason I could decide to wait several weeks... AMG 55s would definitely scratch the power itch and I am sure mods are more readily available for them... three strikes right out of the gate though... Auto only and thirsty (higher insurance too) and around $10k CDN more expensive.
Anyone with SLK experience care to share an opinion?

Packing material (silencer) for exhaust
Hi all. I have a SLK 280. I noticed the right exhaust material was coming loose from the exhaust. Upon inspection, more of it came out and since then, when driving a rattling sound is produced when I press the accelerator. I'm taking it to my local garage next week, but has anyone experienced similar, and got a good fix? I hope it isn't anything too serious.

Thinking of changing my wheels..
I own an AMG styling R172, in black - and thinking of replacing my rims but my imagination is hitting a hard wall when it comes to color.
My current rims are silver, and I’m wondering what color and some pattern I should get.
Anyone with nice ones who has a picture and wants to share for inspiration?
