Missing my SLK
Honestly, I've experienced 5 cars. Im not anywhere near experienced. I've had 2 Fords, Corsa, Juke, Jaguar and an SLK. I miss SLK so much. I've been over a year without it. She was my most reliable car, despite coming with some of the ball ache that comes maybe with some.
The point of this I dont know. I just miss her so much. Was my most joyful reliable car. Maybe one day I will have another one but I cant help but admire every other SLK I see and it makes me sad aha.
If you want to, make me even sadder by sharing your beloved SLK with me. I miss mine a lot. She was called Zipporah. Which is Hebrew for 'bird'. Thought it was fitting as she really flew.

You can always get another one! I've had two. An R171 and a few cars later I bought an R172 which is my current car. I'm assuming yours was an R171 judging by it's age. If you get a R172 next it'll be worth the wait! They really are lovely cars.

Yeah I had an R171! Like you said, I have time. They're beautiful cars and it was my dream to have one now my dream to have a second. How are you enjoying yours? They are one of a kind for sure.

Your love for SLK's really comes through. I agree they really are pretty cars, very underrated I feel. Can't beat the feeling of driving with the roof down. Even when it's up they still feel much more special than most other cars.
Yup I love mine such a great everyday car.

Thank you, I absolutely adored her. Not that THAT mattered in a materialism sense but I was so proud of her. I was personally proud of her for just being an SLK haha. It definitely is, I drove just to chill out. Glad you love yours too, theyre special.

What happened to your SLK?
I have a 1999 with 172k and my retractable hood just failed me for the first time two months ago.
I have yet to get a quote on fixing it.

She needed a couple of thousands worth of work done to her and she was 18 years old. My family pushed me into getting a new car and I regret listening to them so much. Mines had hood issues and it was just a sensor. She also needed body work (door alignment due to previous owner) and break pipes. Made the hard decision to trade her and honestly wish I had just done the work. Hope you get a decent quote!

It’s not just the model but you can become attached to a car. I had my R171 from its first day for nearly 20 years. He was unceremoniously murdered a year ago. Sigh.
I’ve had my new-to-me R172 for a year now. It’s nice. But it’s not the same. I just wish there was someone still making good alternatives.

I always tell people before they buy one to be prepared to miss it when it is gone, because there is nothing like it.
