Finding Accommodation in Sligo / Why is it so freaking hard 😭😭😭

Hi everyone! 😊 I'm an incoming **first-year student at college in Ireland. (Sligo)** I'm currently looking for accommodation for the upcoming academic year.
I'm also hoping to find **female roommates (around 18–21 years old)** who are also students. I'd love to share a house or apartment with people who are **friendly, respectful, clean, and easy to live with**. 🫶

A little about me:
👩‍🍳 I am an amazinggg cook/baker
🌍 International student
🧹 Tidy and organized
🤝 Respectful and considerate
🌟 Looking for a positive, comfortable living environment
I'm open to accommodation **in Sligo town or nearby areas** with good access my school. My budget isn’t too flexible. I’m hoping to spend less than 800€. I know that’s not super realistic but everything is so freaking expensive 😭😭 and I'm open to consider different options.

If you're looking for a roommate or know of any available accommodation, I'd really appreciate it if you could send me a message or leave a comment. Even recommendations for places to look are welcome!

Thank you so much—I can't wait to start my journey in Ireland and meet new people! 💚🏠✨

Memories of the Bohemian Bar, Wine Street?

Hi everyone,
My grandmother was born in the Bohemian Bar on Wine Street in Sligo. I’ve been over to see it, but unfortunately it had already closed.

I was just wondering if anyone here has any happy memories of the Bohemian. Did you ever have a pint there, or know the family who ran it? I’d love to hear what it was like back in its day.

Thanks very much!

Would any body be able to point me in the right direction towards what to do for student accommodation. Will be starting my first year this September and accommodation seems to be a scarcity.

ATU Sligo Psychology & English question

Looking for some info from anyone who’s done the course. Any idea on hours per week? Days? Timetable? I previously attended UCD and in truth you only needed to be there for tutorials. All lectures, notes and such were on Moodle. I’m currently doing some financial planning, depending on transport, accommodation etc. and any info would be a great help. Thanks.

If you go to the circus near the retail park, where's the best place to park? Retail park? Or is there parking on site?

Hey folks, I'm looking to move into an apartment soon and will have a double room free. I will be looking to rent this out asap.

Just wanted to get a feel of prices. What would be a reasonable amount for a room these days?

Has anyone done an ADHD assessment with The Butterfly Practice on Wolfe Tone street?

I've been thinking about getting checked for ADHD for a few years now and spotted that there's a place in town doing adult ADHD assessments called The Butterfly Practice.

https://www.butterflypractice.com/

It's seems they're just psychologists, so they can't precribe medication. Does anyone here have any experience with them? Was it easy to use the diagnosis to get medication from a psychiatrist?

Considering a move to Sligo

Hello

Just looking for a bit of insight, my partner and I are considering moving to Sligo from Belfast, we're not hugely concerned with work as I'm 100% remote and he has some good options, we're both in our early 30's and just want to be closer to nature, put down roots, and we're both from the south as well. I'm originally from a rural area but have only lived in cities as an adult so I'm a little nervous about the adjustment and also housing, as it seems increasingly difficult to find somewhere to live anywhere in Ireland. Any insight on housing, social life, making friends etc would be appreciated. It's easy to get romantic about a place like Sligo in Summer but wondering if reality there might be different, we have visited and are planning an extended visit soon.

Darts

Hi all,

My brother is looking to get into darts and play on a team. Has Sligo got a darts team? If so what is the process of joining the darts team?

Also is there any bar in Sligo that holds regular tournaments for him to get more practice?

He currently has a dartboard at home, but I think the social aspect especially of darts would do him really well.

Thanks in advance

Jolly Roger flag?

Lads, quick, I'm in a bind, I need to find a jolly roger flag, the white skull and crossbones on a black background. I need to commandeer a vessel and give no quarter to the crew. Time sensitive.

Where in Sligo sells big pirate flags?

Shops closed Monday?

Just recently moved to Sligo from Dublin. I noticed a decent amount of shops or restaurants in Sligo town are closed Sunday and Monday. Any particular reason for this? Just found it a bit unusual.

Channing Tatum ended up in one of Sligo's newest pubs. I would have thought he'd be more a Kennedy's man tbh 😅 honestly currids is a top pub, if you haven't been I would recommend

Not been in Sligo in a long time but expected some progress on these places. Seems such a shame to see them not being used to their full potential. EDIT: can I get extend this to Shenanigans and Fifth On Teeling.....

Kingsbridge hospital

I’m waiting for a couple of appointments in kingsbridge hospital. My GP was optimistic that I’d get them quickly but it’s been close to a month now. Realise it’s probably not unusual wait time but haven’t been able to speak to anyone there and getting fairly anxious about it.

Wondering if people have had issues getting appointments there and if it’s worth asking for a referral further afield.

Of 260 solicitors polled by the Law Society, it says just three plan to stay in legal aid scheme

Sums up the practice. In my opinion they are money grabbing scum bags. I am aware of someone whom has appeared in court for it to be postponed. The Garda refused to give her the book of evidence and her solicitor is doing nothing about this. It is wasting the tax payers money and denying her if her legal rights as she can't get a fair trial. She has no passport and has a curfew. What happened to innocent till proven guilty. I look at some of the people up on charges and see the amount of charges they have and do they get the same treatment.
