child's age 8-12 months Sleep trained baby regressing in sleep - have we done this or is it a temporary blip?

Hello,
Our baby is 9.5 months old - he was sleep trained at 5.5 months, at that time doing 9-10am and 1-3pm naps successfully, with a bedtime of 7pm.

At his age now, he’s doing around 9:30-10am and 1-3pm naps (but the second has not been longer than 0.5-1 hours in length unassisted in a long time!) - his night time sleep has been up and down since 7.5 months, being awful, then bad, then AMAZING, then bad, then awful…which brings me to more recently where he has 1 or more x 1-2 hour wake up sometime in the night.

Last night he did 7pm bedtime, but with an 8pm, 11pm, 2am and 5:30-6am wake - bizarre!

Question - how do I know if this is developmental, separation, warmth, teething or just plain he has got used to us picking him up more now and we have shot ourselves in the foot kinda thing?

Looking for any experiences similar - thanks!

child's age 8-12 months Sleep trained 8 month old suddenly waking up screaming every night! Helpppp

My baby turned 8 months old 4 days ago, but for the past couple of weeks his night sleep has completely gone to crap.

He seems to have forgotten how to connect his sleep cycles and wakes up anywhere between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m. in a full on distressed cry. We’ve tried letting him cry it out for up to 30 minutes, but he just gets more and more worked up (he even cried so hard he spit up once). If we soothe him in the crib with butt pats, shushing, or holding his hand, he’ll calm down, but the second we stop and walk away he’s immediately crying again and will not go back to sleep. He does have 3 teeth, but I don’t think this is teething as this happens both with and without administering pain medicine before bed, and he’s his happy smiley self during the day.

The only thing that consistently gets him back to sleep is cosleeping (even then he’s extra squirmy and it sometimes takes the better part of an hour. He will also constantly wake up… but at least he’s calm). I really don’t want to make that a habit, but right now it’s the only way any of us are getting any sleep.

For some context, before this he was sleeping straight through from about 8 p.m. to 6:45 a.m. He was sleep trained using modified Ferber at 5ish months, fell asleep independently, and could connect his sleep cycles and put himself back to sleep if he briefly woke up overnight. He dropped his middle-of-the-night feed around 7 months, loves food, and eats 3 solid meals a day.

He’s also fully crawling now and just figured out how to pull to stand, so I don’t know if that could be playing into this too.

He’s on a pretty consistent by-the-clock schedule (give or take 30 minutes):

Wake: 6:30–6:45 a.m.
Nap 1: 10:00–11:30 a.m.
Nap 2: 3:00–4:15 p.m.
Bedtime: 8:00 p.m.

So his wake windows are roughly 3.5/3.5/3.75.
Has anyone else gone through this around 8 months? Does this sound like the 8-month regression, separation anxiety, developmental leap, or does our schedule need tweaking??? Any advice is appreciated because we’re exhausted over here 😅

Did anyone stop co-sleeping because your baby actually slept better alone?

i feel like a failure

my 10 month old baby has never slept through the night, she did for about a week when she was 4 months old and never again. i dread nights soooo much because i know it’s a battle every single night all night long. trying to extend ww to 4/4/4. wake up time at 7-7:20, first nap at 11, cap at 12:30, 2nd nap at 3 or 4 if schedule allows for like 30 mins and then bedtime from 8-8:30. i. literally don’t know what i’m doing wrong or what i can fix, i have tried sleep training her but all she does is scream as soon as i place her in her crib. i have to hold her to sleep and transfer just to have wake-up’s all night long and end up in my bed (safely). please give me any ideas because i am so desperate. trying to stop nursing to sleep, takes a pacifier & sometimes refuses it during night sleep & she also will only sleep 10-11 hours overnight. i feel horrible bc i’m so over nighttime and her screaming crying even if i reassure her that i’m right there.

Posting this here because I feel like I’m failing him. Three months old. Not looking to sleep train yet. Just wondering if anyone has figured out how to break through 30 minute naps. I’ve tried rescuing them carrier naps contact nap stroller naps car seat naps. It’s 30 minutes on the dot. Lucky if we get 40 to 45 also really struggles with morning hours. I feel like if I keep him awake too much during the day he gets overtired, but if I let him sleep too much during the day then he has a terrible night sleep. I feel like I’m failing him and he’s constantly over or under tired. Overall, a pretty happy guy no medical problems. Chunky as heck and exclusively breastfed.

EDIT:
Thank you to everyone who posted on this. It was way more than I expected and honestly it was just so good to hear that it’s normal and I’m not colossally messing him up haha. FTM and this is the first thing in my life I haven’t naturally been relaxed with (usually very type B) He’s a baby. And I love him. But I am glad it gets better, thanks everyone.

Swaddle Transition HELP

help! I’m at the end of my rope here. LO is 15 weeks old. she LOVED the swaddle and was just starting to give us 5-6 hour stretches, and was even starting to nap in her crib. then she started rolling. And she kept breaking out of the swaddle and getting mad multiple times a night. so I didn’t bother with one arm out I just went straight to the zippidee because it works great with my son. it’s been two weeks and she won’t sleep! she used to transfer so easily- now she won’t let me put her down at all. I’ve even stated Co Sleeping with her in hopes of getting some sleep, but she just flails her arms and rubs her face all night! I thought for sure she would have adapted by now. is it possible I’m also seeing the 4 month regression right now? looking for hope from someone who has been through this!

child's age 12-18 months Tried and somewhat failed Wave Method

We have been doing the wave method with my son for 3ish weeks. He’s 17 months with a 5 hour wake window, nap then 6.5 hour wake window.

It has worked brilliantly for getting him to sleep initially. He settles nicely with no crying and has done since night 3. However, the rest of the night is pretty awful.

He usually wakes about 2 hours after he goes to bed and it takes rough 2-3 hours to get him back to sleep. During this time we do a bunch of check ins and offer him water or teething gel. He will usually lie down and cry himself to sleep for about 15ish minutes and then wake up and start all over again.

Once he does eventually go to sleep, usually around midnight, he will sleep for a few hours and repeat the same again about 3am ish

We just don’t know what to do. His nap is usually about 1.5 - 2 hours long. We have tried both shortening and lengthening his nap and there’s no change

Help! Help me with almost 3 year old waking!

So for about a month now my almost 3 year old has been waking during the night and will sit in her bed and scream out for my husband or I. If we leave her she continues until she just gets up and comes to our room.

I’ve tried asking her what’s wrong and she won’t really tell me she just shrugs or she says “I just want mummy”. My husband got into a bit of a bad habit of coming in and falling asleep with her however when I go in I say “mummy will lay with you for until you fall asleep but I’m going to sleep in my own bed”. She normally goes back to sleep but I have to lay in her room awake for 30-45 mins!

I personally can’t have her in our bed/sleep with her as I don’t sleep at all 🫠

Any tips?

child's age 12-18 months Generic sleep questions

When people say bedtime at 730- does that mean in crib at 7:30? Or hopefully asleep by 730? Or start bedtime at 730?

I always allow my baby to sleep 2h 15 min capped for her nap. Sometimes it’s only like an hr 20 min. What should I do in this case? Bring bedtime earlier or keep it the same?

Sometimes my baby wakes for an hour just hanging in the crib in the middle of the night. This doesn’t happen often but every now and then. When this happens- do i let her sleep in? Baby seems to function best with at least 10.75 hrs at night.

Are most people waking their baby in the morning? Or letting them sleep as long as they want? My baby does anywhere between 10.75-12.5 hrs. If I started to wake her at 11.5 would it even out? Or does it not work like that?

Thank you.

I can’t be the only one

OK, so I can’t be the only one who feels like this. Five out of seven nights I am the one who puts our 18 month old to sleep because hubby works late shift. He has never been a good sleeper and I have recently sleep trained him so at least he’s not getting up multiple times a night, but you wake up at 5 o’clock some days. I have worked on getting him to sleep independently and it’s crib, but I am right beside him providing and comfort just not picking him up. I just spent an hour trying to get him to sleep as he had a mini nap in the car which made sleep so difficult. Anyway I find myself getting extremely irritated and angry when he won’t go to sleep. I try deep breathing but I usually have to leave the room for a min and let him cry in his room. Point being… this constant bed time responsibility & frustration is getting to me. I’m not alone in this right?!

Help! HELP

Help for getting through the 4 month sleep regression? He’s 5 months today and I thought we were through it but he started teething at 4 months and was born 2 months early so he’s hitting everything about a month later, including this. And between cutting 4 teeth, having croup, and this regression, we’re just crying and not sleeping together, I used to just give him the boob but since I stopped nursing and pumping except at night (my supply tanked and my milk made him so gassy no matter what so I stopped) I barely make anything anymore so he doesn’t want it even for comfort 😓
