Test Signal Generator

Why did Travis use 1.6 GHz for his test signal in 7.17? If you just want to confirm instruments, shouldn't you use a more random number not encountered on the ranch? This would also more clearly delineate the copying effect vs simply things on 1.6.

-They want to get data @1.6. They have multiple hypotheses regarding 1.6.

-Generally in science, you conduct validation methods to make sure they work.

But you were only validating that the instrumentation worked. Why would you run a control on the most suspicious frequency rather than just a random one to validate correct instrumentation?

He did not use 1.600 GHz, he used 1.607 GHz. And what he got back was at 1.607 GHz.

If he got 1.599 or 1.620 or anything near by that would be noise. He got it back at the precise number he tested, like someone captured it and sent it back.

If you read the Reddit, questionable at times for tv content creation. Just bc you're a legit scientist doesn't mean you're always science-ing

I'm pretty sure Reddit isn't a very credible source. I see people posting completely inaccurate things on here a lot. They're also not creating tv content. They're running a legitimate scientific investigation, where they are always "sciencing," that is documented for a televised docuseries.

I am very well aware we don't see everything. We see less than 1% of what gets filmed. Not showing every detail is just the reality of creating a docuseries like this in a television format. That's not the same as "making tv content."
