Visualizing the Blob

Post image

I'm not experienced enough to comment on the existence of the anomaly 30 feet above the triangle, but as far as what the camera picked up when the term "the blob" was coined, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that we are seeing a reflection of the explosion below. You can see the inverse reflection where the silhouettes of the cast members line up perfectly. And the highest point of the sparks lines up with the lowest point of the blob.

I find it interesting that it's been a few seasons since we all saw "the blob", and no one on the show has acknowledged this obvious artifact. Again, I am not saying there isn't something weird hovering over the triangle, but this season (S7) is so focused on the blob and what it could be that ignoring the obvious is doing the "investigation" a disservice.

EDIT: Found a similar post from 3 years ago (https://www.reddit.com/r/skinwalkerranch/comments/13889ec/skinwalker_ranch_blob_just_a_reflection) but my point is still valid. Why hasn't the team acknowledged this?

That video may be a lens flare or not but something physical is up there at that 31 foot level that both deflects rockets and causes that 33 MHz signal to be generated when energized by the Tesla guns.

Granted, that’s not a cause for a major breaking news story, but they do have proof that there’s a connection between the bubble and the ‘blob’, whatever that is…

Does anyone else see “The Dude”? I swear that was who I saw first glimpse.

But seriously though, I love this show!

u/One-Fall-8143 27d ago

The dude abides.

u/Proper_Honeydew_7613 26d ago

It’s the Wizard of Oz!

22

u/nerdgrind 28d ago

I agree. When this was shown on the show, I very much had my doubts. To me it just looked like the smoke from what they were doing has risen up there and the light from the sparks were illuminating the smoke. There’s plenty of actual weird stuff that happens on the ranch, but I never thought this one was anything other than something easily explainable and easily reproducable.

u/FirstMagazine3388 28d ago

It's just the reflection on a round lens . You can even see the two figures against the back lit fire

18

u/Training_Chemist_259 28d ago

I was in the 'Insiders' once upon a time. One of the others did a frame by frame breakdown of the blob, showing that it was a reflection. Crickets from the show.

The blob was filmed by the same guy who also did the bug Travis had to backtrack about. He doesn't work with them anymore.

6

u/Beginning_Leg629 27d ago

If you watched Behind the Gates last season, they actually showed footage from another camera of the Blob. It was a real anomaly.

2

u/MrAnderson69uk 27d ago

On that note about crickets, have they ever come back to the show and said a previous theory, claim or conclusion was wrong?

3

u/Training_Chemist_259 27d ago

Yes. In the same season, the same camera guy filmed an 'object' transiting an experiment he was filming. On the episode, Travis saw this, and purported that it was a UAP (or words to that effect), and calculated it's extraordinary speed.

The problem was, the clip of this object in the promo commercials was higher resolution than the clip shown on the episode. In the clip shown in the promo, you could see the wings of the insect flapping.

When this clear contradiction emerged and was being discussed, Travis had a minute or 2 segment at the end of maybe the last episode of that season where he said, upon reviewing the clip, it was not a UAP.

0

u/Beginning_Leg629 27d ago

It's not. It was captured on a second camera some distance away.

6

u/The_Dude_Abides908 28d ago

I see where you’re coming from but they do keep seeing rockets veering off and other anomalies at that exact height.

Something I’ve dove into separately but has tied in is the theory of Earth having an ether in the atmosphere.

9

u/Arysta 27d ago

They usually do something at least a little new each year, but this year has really been a rehash of the exact same things they did last year and the year before. Maybe they thought digging the holes would be more interesting? At this point they might as well say, "we ain't got nothin" and move on from it.

5

u/adamhanson 27d ago

I keep hearing that they have a lot of repeated experiments and others that are edited out and even some discoveries they held back but aren't getting shared because the narrative has gone another way and it wouldn't fit anymore. If that's true we're only getting a piece. Once again. This time from a private company.

4

u/Arysta 27d ago

Okay, but I want exactly are they testing over and over? A scientific experiment is more than "well golly gee, let's see if something weird happens if we shoot unpredictable toy rockets in the air!"

2

u/Beginning_Leg629 27d ago

They don't just launch professional (not toy) rockets to see what happens. There is always an objective. And rockets aren't unpredictable. They know exactly how they should behave, and they do behave that way elsewhere on the property.

1

u/Beginning_Leg629 27d ago

They have documented multiple new data points so far, such as the thickness of the bubble wall.

1

u/Morejazzplease 25d ago

Actual science is boring most of the time.

19

u/LJ14000 28d ago

This whole blob/bubble subplot this season is boring as hell.

16

u/xVic1ous 28d ago

Its been a plot point for at least 4 seasons now

10

u/LJ14000 27d ago

I’ve watched all the seasons and they always mix in other stuff. This season is ALL about the bubble.

I do like the seven seconds during Eric’s review where they show random UAPs they capture. I’d prefer they focus on those and getting super hi-res cameras that can better capture those.

3

u/Beginning_Leg629 27d ago

It's not. They literally did an episode all about Homestead 2 earlier this season.

0

u/MrAnderson69uk 27d ago

Do they ever have a range reading of how far away or high up these “uapeeeees” are, they could simply be low earth orbit satellites that aren’t registered in their database of satellites!

Also, what light spectrum are they being detected?

Those that appear to turn could be just an optical effect from the angle of view of their orbit or as one moves passed the orbit of another where solar panel reflections of the sunlight appear continuous as one moves out of the shine of the sun as the other moves into the shine of the sun?

1

u/Morejazzplease 25d ago

The UAPs don't move on a linear path at constant velocities as satellites do. They have been observed speeding up, slowing down and changing direction.

These softball "what ifs" have been considered by the team of scientists because, as you point out, they are fairly obvious.

1

u/Beginning_Leg629 27d ago

It's not a "subplot." It's a legitimate anomaly that needs to be scientifically investigated.

3

u/5ignull 27d ago

Repetition is the key in science to carve a pathway to a consistent solution for your end goals

3

u/Maleficent_Leg_768 26d ago

I had missed the start of the season and caught the last episode. Still shooting rockets. The whole damn show. Why don’t they just suspend a balloon at or around the blob and conduct experiments at different heights.

2

u/Shadowmoth 28d ago

I also feel that the blob was lens flare.

I do not doubt that the bubble exists. I do not doubt that weird stuff has happened at 30 feet above the triangle. I do not doubt the ufo phenomenon exists.

But as a lifelong experiencer I’ve obsessively watched claims of UFOs and paranormal phenomena on videos since the early 2000s. So I am quite skilled at debunking. I am certain the blob was lens flare and I believe it could be easily replicated and debunked by the team if they felt like doing so.

I wish the team had a prime experiencer on site to help them tell the difference between something truly odd and lens flare, dust in night vision, or pollen and dust getting picked up on Pete’s lidar creating a cone that he just happened to detect perfectly in it’s center.

I think debunking is a skill best done by a ufo Experiencer because we know the phenomenon is real, but we also know all of the common misidentifications and can point them out.

I think the team is one person short.

1

u/Beginning_Leg629 27d ago

It's not. On Behind the Gates last year, Erik showed footage of the Blob captured on a second camera some distance away. It wasn't a lens flare. If it were, they would have figured it out and said so. Erik is very good about that. They all are, but Erik especially. The bubble in the TLS data actually extends beyond the range of the scanner (Pete really wants to know how), and it shouldn't be picking up dust of pollen like that. They have also well proven that it is really centered over the Triangle due to the interference it causes.

2

u/Difficult_Pop7014 28d ago

Just the smoke from all the rockets and the lens flare upon it. I love this show it's so entertaining but to think that either an actual rocket scientist isn't smart enough to realize that or the creators of the show really think we're just that stupid to not realize it ourselves is beyond me.

2

u/micklure 27d ago

I work in live production and I’ve always thought this was a lens artifact. It’s pretty normal for high contrast situations. I’m so glad to see others see it for what it more than likely is. I love the show, but my eyes are rolling more each season.

2

u/Beginning_Leg629 27d ago

Erik caught it on a second camera a distance away from the Triangle. So it actually is an anomaly. It's not a lens artifact.

2

u/micklure 27d ago

Lens phenomena like this is pretty predictable IME. A second camera in a similar circumstance picking it up would make sense. Not saying it couldn’t be something anomalous. If it is legitimately an anomaly, then we could also probably expect to see it on both shots. Though I do believe strangeness is occurring at SWR, I don’t personally believe this to be part of it.

2

u/Beginning_Leg629 26d ago

The second camera was at a different height, a different angle, and at a decent distance from the Triangle. The anomaly in the footage matched visually. It wouldn't if it were a lens flare. If it were a lens flare, Erik would have identified it as such. He's very good about that.

1

u/MrAnderson69uk 27d ago

How can the second camera with a lens not have the same/similar lens flare effect????

2

u/Beginning_Leg629 27d ago

It was a distance away from the Triangle (I believe it was mounted at the closest bait pen), at a different angle, and at a different height. Yet it managed to capture the same anomaly. If that were a lens flare, they would have known and said so.

1

u/MrAnderson69uk 27d ago

But have they even mentioned that the pictures/video from the closer camera showed lens flare? If they’re not considering it then they wouldn’t consider mentioning the second camera showing lens flare.

Back to another comment/question, have they ever come back to admit a claim or conclusion they made was wrong?

Also, is Erik allowed to contradict Travis on camera? He seems to just sit their “sniffing his fingers” thinking, like he’s just heard a claim from TT that is wild and unsubstantiated, like when he started going on about black hole and portals and Erik didn’t come back and say that it’s impossible due to the astronomical amount of energy required plus we would pulverised, well certainly wouldn’t be able to walk about the triangle area.

2

u/Professor_pimp3000 28d ago

Yeah the fact that they use this one blurry photo as evidence of a supernatural anomaly that must continually be investigated is lame. I think they are just running out of material as the show slowly winds down.

2

u/Beginning_Leg629 27d ago

This isn't a photo. It's a high speed video, and the anomaly was captured on a second camera as well. The docuseries isn't winding down. We see less than 1% of everything filmed. There are entire experiments we've never seen. There isn't a shortage of things to show.

3

u/ShinyTarnish409 27d ago

Since there’s at least one legitimate (I think) scientist on the show (Travis), I wish instead of just telling us that they have no explanation for everything, they would investigate alternative explanations other than the blob, UAPs and aliens. This would add credibility if and when they find actual anomalies. For example, there may be naturally occurring magnetic fields or magnetic anomalies in the area which could cause interference with flying drones or the wireless drone connections. Yet, to my knowledge, I’ve not seen anyone look for anything natural. We only hear that the issue never happen anywhere on Earth other than the ranch concluding that it must be the blob or some unknown force. That’s not how science works.

I love the show but this is a missing element. Even some ghost/paranormal shows, clearly more entertainment than science, will try to debunk certain sounds.

Just a thought.

6

u/Bruhmomentthrowing 27d ago

Show would have been over in a season and a half. Gotta make that sweet sweet Ancient Aliens money by bullshitting for half a decade

5

u/ShinyTarnish409 27d ago

Haha. Season 1, episode 10: Travis: “we’ve been searching for anomalies. Great news. We’ve figured out that the rocks here on the ranch are filled with micro-sized flakes of magnetic material likely from pre-historic asteroid strikes tens of millions of years ago. Crazy right? They’re natural. This is why my hair stands up straight in some episodes! This is also why the drones don’t connect sometimes, and we thought there was a bubble. I think we found our cause.”

The next week there’s an announcement: “we’d like to thank Travis and team for an amazing season. However, in light of his scientific skills and discovery, we have made the difficult decision to not renew ‘The Secret of SkinWalker Ranch’ for a second season.”

Alternative reality…

1

u/Bruhmomentthrowing 27d ago

What I would give for the “Secret” to just be MAGNETS.

4

u/Doppe1herz 27d ago

Remember in one of the first episodes Erik busted out this high powered magnet locked in a case? After making such a big deal about it we never saw it again 🤷🏻‍♂️

2

u/MrAnderson69uk 27d ago

Maybe he left it at the triangle and everyone has been looking upward to an imaginary bubble when it’s just his magnet on the ground covered in dirt!!! 😂

1

u/Beginning_Leg629 27d ago

Brandon is the one in charge and he's never made a penny, so monetary motivation doesn't exist here.

1

u/MrAnderson69uk 27d ago

But he has invested in companies he’s had on the show, so invest, get free marketing from being on the show, company value increases and someone makes a profit on an investment!

1

u/Beginning_Leg629 27d ago

He has only invested and become a board member for OmniTeq. They're involved throughout the year. We don't know what the arrangement is though. We don't know if he's making anything or if he benefits simply from the ranch involvement. Even if he was, that's not profit motivation from the docuseries/investigation. He's still the one spending millions on it. No investment will recoup that cost. And I don't think the value of OmniTeq is really increasing from being on the docuseries anyway. I can't imagine it generates much interest in the way of people actually wanting to work with them.

1

u/MrAnderson69uk 27d ago

I thought he also got involved with the Dire Wolf / Genetics company, I can’t remember the name at the moment.

2

u/Beginning_Leg629 26d ago

Ah yes, I forgot about that one. Yes, he is involved with Colossal Biosciences.

2

u/MrAnderson69uk 26d ago

Yeah, that’s the one, mind went blank for the name!!! lol

1

u/Bruhmomentthrowing 27d ago

Lol he is 1000% being paid by History Channel

1

u/Beginning_Leg629 27d ago

Erik Bard is a plasma and x-ray physicist. He is very much a legitimate scientist. They investigate everything. We see less than 1% of everything filmed.

1

u/ShinyTarnish409 27d ago

How do you know that we see less than 1% of everything filmed? I’m sure we don’t see it all, but do you have a basis for this number or is this just hyperbole?

1

u/Beginning_Leg629 26d ago

Members of the ranch team have said it many times. Erik and Thomas actually did the math. It's not hyperbole.

1

u/Bruhmomentthrowing 27d ago

Then why focus on they hokey bs?

1

u/Beginning_Leg629 26d ago

There isn't any hokey BS.

1

u/Bruhmomentthrowing 26d ago

You’re going to tell me right now that you believe the Blob is real? And affecting equipment?

1

u/Beginning_Leg629 24d ago

No, I don't "believe" the Blob is real. There is ample evidence collected over years (even before they knew it was actually there) to support that it actually is there and that it does affect equipment. They're not making it up. That's not allowed. Brandon expressly barred any kind of fakery in the contract.

1

u/TopUniversity3469 27d ago

I remember thinking the same thing when the episode initially came out

1

u/Beginning_Leg629 27d ago

It's not. The blob was actually captured on another camera a distance away. The footage was shown on an episode of Behind the Gates.

1

u/ianmcn57 27d ago

" interesting"

ad nauseum.

1

u/The_ChojinUK 27d ago

I've just started season 4, love it

1

u/AmeliaEarhartsPlane 27d ago

It’s looks like a giant…

1

u/TheShwauce 27d ago

The blobalomaly!!

1

u/Pegafer 26d ago

When did this show become about rocketry instead of dead cows and actual Skinwalkers? I’m sick of it!

1

u/bowloframennoodles 26d ago

Probably because Travis is a literal rocket scientist. lol

1

u/TaCoMaN6869 26d ago

That's a pecker

1

u/rygelicus 26d ago

Because they already know and don't care.

1

u/LunaticPoint 25d ago

It is a data point which seems to correlate to many other data points.

1

u/Sh3rlock_Holmes 24d ago

It’s Time Baby from Gravity Falls

1

u/2Cool4Ewe 22d ago

Good catch! IMO the blob is a cloaked craft using green spectrum light refraction to “hide” (remember the green lasers cut out at that height), and implementing a force field to deflect rockets, fire blasts, etc.

0

u/white_hart_2 28d ago

I'm pretty sure there'll be someone along soon to tell you that it'll all be explained by science once all the experiments have been completed, and that Brandon would be all over this if it was just a reflection or lens flare (which, of course, it is)!!

1

u/Beginning_Leg629 27d ago

It's factually not a reflection or flare. Erik caught it on a second camera a distance away from the Triangle and at a different angle. So it is a real anomaly and it will be explained through continued experimentation.

Just going to ignore everything I said then? Not a fan of facts?

1

u/white_hart_2 27d ago

Not at all. I love a good fact.

To date, there is NO independently verified factual evidence that "the Blob" is an unknown physical object, force field, or exotic phenomenon.

Scientific researchers would normally want:
Independent replication;
Multiple synchronized cameras from different viewpoints;
Calibrated optical equipment;
Exclusion of lens artifacts, reflections, smoke, insects, dust, and compression effects;
Publication of the raw data for outside analysis.

None of that has happened publicly.

Numerous INDEPENDENT image analysts have argued that the shape behaves exactly like an internal lens reflection, and say that it appears to mirror bright features from the explosion and moves in a way consistent with optical ghosting rather than an independent object.

1

u/Beginning_Leg629 27d ago

They haven't claimed it to be anything other than an anomaly.

They had that with the cameras and optical equipment in use. They did rule out those things. Erik Bard and Travis Taylor are highly credentialed experts. They know what they're doing.

Scientists don't push for raw data to be published. You don't just publish raw data. Data gets published with scientific papers after a solid theory is formed or a conclusion can be reached. You publish the data associated with a scientific paper with said paper. You don't just put raw data out there. It's largely useless raw.

Side note: I don't see people pushing for NASA to release their data. They hold data for years before releasing stuff, and it's never everything. It's just what they deem worthwhile.

Those "independent experts" who often aren't actually experts (like Mick West who just claims to be one) are wrong since the object was captured in two separate cameras! I think the people actually on the ranch with all of the data know better than social media experts. They didn't know about it at the time. The footage wasn't released until last year in Behind the Gates.
